Biological ion channels exhibit strong gating effects due to their zero-current closed states. However, the gating capabilities of artificial nanochannels have typically fallen short of biological channels, primarily owing to the larger nanopores that fail to completely block ion transport in the off-states. Here, we demonstrate solid-state hydrogen-bonded organic frameworks-based membranes to achieve high-performance ambient humidity-controlled proton gating, accomplished by switching the proton transport pathway instead of relying on conventional ion blockage/activation effects.

Small cell lung cancer (SCLC) is a highly aggressive form of lung cancer with limited therapeutic options and poor prognosis. In this study, we explored the therapeutic potential of BGJ398, a selective fibroblast growth factor receptor (FGFR) inhibitor, alone and in combination with standard chemotherapy (cisplatin and paclitaxel) in SCLC. High-throughput screening of kinase inhibitors was performed on three SCLC cell lines (NCI-H446, NCI-H69, and NCI-H182), identifying BGJ398 as one of the most potent and selective inhibitors.

This review aimed to provide a comprehensive analysis of the etiology, epidemiology, pathology, and conventional treatment of heterotopic ossification (HO), especially emerging potential therapies. HO is the process of ectopic bone formation at non-skeletal sites. HO can be subdivided into two major forms, acquired and hereditary, with acquired HO predominating.

Background: This study aimed to compare the efficacy and safety of PD-1/L1 inhibitors combined with anlotinib versus PD-1/L1 inhibitors combined with bevacizumab as second-line treatments for advanced NSCLC patients.
Methods: A retrospective analysis was carried out on data from advanced NSCLC patients who received either PD-1/L1 inhibitors combined with anlotinib or PD-1/L1 inhibitors combined with bevacizumab as second-line therapy. Clinical outcomes, including Overall Survival (OS), Progression-Free Survival (PFS), Objective Response Rate (ORR), Disease Control Rate (DCR), and Adverse Events (AEs), were compared between the two treatment groups.

Coenzyme Q acts as a liposoluble quinone compound in mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation, serving as an electron carrier and protecting the cell membrane structure as an antioxidant. Coenzyme Q has notable health benefits, including anti-aging, anti-inflammatory, prevention of cardiovascular diseases, and assistance in cancer treatment. However, its poor water solubility, unstable chemical properties, and low bioavailability significantly limit its application.

Paraneoplastic chronic intestinal pseudo-obstruction (CIPO) is a rare manifestation associated with small cell lung carcinoma and other malignancies. In this report, we present a challenging case involving a 60-year-old man with small cell lung carcinoma who developed symptoms of intestinal pseudo-obstruction, including abdominal distention, pain, and obstipation. Despite receiving extensive treatment with intravenous gamma globulin and glucocorticoids, the patient's symptoms did not improve, ultimately resulting in irreversible nervous system damage.

Atherosclerosis, resulting from chronic inflammation of the arterial wall, serves as the underlying cause of multiple major cardiovascular diseases. Current anti-inflammatory therapies often exhibit limited and unsatisfactory efficacy. To address this, we have designed a selenium-doped copper formate (Cuf-Se) nanozyme for the treatment of atherosclerosis, which possesses superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione peroxidase (GPx)-like activities.

Stylo () exhibits excellent tolerance to low-phosphate (Pi) availability, but the underlying mechanisms responsible for improving the phosphorus (P) utilization efficiency (PUE) remain unclear. This study employed metabolomics, lipidomics, and gene expression analyses to investigate the differential responses to low-Pi stress between the high-PUE genotype CF047827 and the cultivar Reyan No. 2.

Treatment of tumor brain metastases remains challenging due to the ineffectiveness of drugs in crossing the blood-brain barrier (BBB). Here, we proposed a potential strategy to target and modulate the meningeal lymphatic system for immunotherapy of breast cancer brain metastases (BCBM) through peripheral administration. CT/fluorescence dual-modality imaging demonstrated that the phospholipid nanoprobe (α-PLNPs) through intracisternal magna injection effectively labeled and long-range tracked the meningeal lymphatic pathway from meningeal lymphatic vessels (MLVs) to periphery drainage cervical lymph nodes (CLNs).

The emerging step (S)-scheme heterojunction systems became a powerful strategy in promoting photogenerated charge separation while maintaining their high redox potentials. However, the weak interfacial interaction limits the charge migration rate in S-scheme heterojunctions. Herein, we construct a unique S-scheme carbon nitride (CN) homojunction with boron (B)-doped CN and phosphorus (P)-doped CN (B-CN/P-CN) for hydrogen peroxide (HO) photosynthesis.

Parkinson's disease (PD), a neurodegenerative disorder without cure, is characterized by the pathological aggregation of α-synuclein (α-Syn) in Lewy bodies. Classic deposition pathway and condensation pathway contribute to α-Syn aggregation, and liquid-liquid phase separation is the driving force for condensate formation, which subsequently undergo liquid-solid phase separation to form toxic fibrils. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has a long history in treating neurodegenerative disease, herein; we identified chemicals from herbs that inhibit α-Syn aggregation.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) presents a formidable challenge in oncology, attributed to its association with chronic liver diseases and global prevalence. The immune microenvironment profoundly influences HCC progression, balancing immune suppression and antitumor responses. The Signal Transducer and Activator of Transcription 3 (STAT3) is central to this equilibrium, orchestrating immune dynamics and intertwining tumor progression with immune evasion mechanisms.

The anterolateral thigh (ALT) flap is a commonly used donor site for reconstructive surger, especially in head and neck reconstructions. The flap's success is primarily determined by the quality and quantity of its perforating vessels, which is why clinicians typically prefer harvesting from a healthy leg with intact vascular anatomy. Poliomyelitis typically causes unilateral lower limb paralysis, resulting in muscle atrophy and deformities.

Activated sludge enriches vast amounts of micropollutants (MPs) when wastewater is treated, posing potential environmental risks. While standard methods typically focus on target analysis of known compounds, the identity, structure, and concentration of transformation products (TPs) of MPs remain less understood. Here, we employed a novel approach that integrates machine learning for the quantification of nontarget TPs with advanced target, suspect, and nontarget screening strategies.

The present paper comprises a systematic survey of trematodes and acanthocephalans based on helminthological examinations of 64 specimens of 14 species of freshwater fishes, belonging to six families of four fish orders, mostly from localities in Hubei Province, central China, collected in the autumn of 2002. A total of 15 trematode species (in 12 families) and 5 acanthocephalan species (in four families) was recorded. Almost all parasites are briefly described and illustrated and problems concerning their morphology, taxonomy, hosts and geographical distribution are discussed.

Tamoxifen (TAM) is employed to treat premenopausal ER-positive breast cancer patients, but TAM resistance is the main reason affecting its efficacy. Thus, addressing TAM resistance is crucial for improving therapeutic outcomes. This study explored the potential role of Tinagl1, a secreted extracellular matrix protein, whose expression is compromised in TAM-resistant MCF-7 breast cancer cells (MCF-7R).
