Objectives: The aims of this study are to evaluate the efficacy of transcranial direct current stimulation for improving disorders of consciousness and to compare efficacy of the different etiologies of disorders of consciousness.
Design: Randomized controlled trials or crossover trials examining effects of transcranial direct current stimulation in patients with disorders of consciousness were searched in PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, and Web of Science. The sample characteristics, etiology, transcranial direct current stimulation treatment characteristics, and outcomes were extracted.

Background: For advanced lung squamous cell carcinoma, immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have been regarded as one of the optimal therapies. While immune-related adverse events (irAEs) are common in ICI treatment, cutaneous toxicities are among the most common irAEs. Most immune-related skin toxicity grades are low, and the prognosis is good.

Titanium (Ti) implant-associated infection, which is mostly caused by bacterial adhesion and biofilm formation, may result in implant failure and secondary surgery. Thus it is an urgent issue to prevent bacterial infections at the earliest step. To develop a novel surface strategy of polydopamine (PDA) and silver (Ag) nanoparticle-loaded TiO nanorods (NRDs) coatings on Ti alloy.

Background And Aim: Information on real world treatment experiences of patients with functional bowel disorders is lacking from Asia. This study aimed to describe the medication exposure and treatment satisfaction of patients presenting to gastroenterology clinics across a sampling of Asian cities.
Methods: From March 2011 to October 2013, adult patients presenting to hospital-based gastroenterology outpatient clinics in 11 cities across Asia, who fulfilled screening criteria for any functional gastrointestinal disorder, were asked to complete a validated culturally adapted translation of the Rome III diagnostic questionnaire, a checklist of medications received in the preceding 3 months and questions on treatment satisfaction.

The purpose of this study was to identify risk factors in patients with surgically treated node-positive IB1-IIB cervical cancer and to establish a risk model for disease-free survival (DFS) and overall survival (OS). A total of 170 patients who underwent radical hysterectomy and bilateral pelvic lymphadenectomy as primary treatment for node-positive International Federation of Gynaecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) stage IB1-IIB cervical cancer from January 2002 to December 2008 were retrospectively analyzed. Five published risk models were evaluated in this population.

With the aim of gathering temporal trends on bacterial epidemiology and resistance from multiple laboratories in China, the CHINET surveillance system was organized in 2005. Antimicrobial susceptibility testing was carried out according to a unified protocol using the Kirby-Bauer method or automated systems. Results were analyzed according to Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) 2014 definitions.

S100 protein family has been implicated in multiple stages of tumorigenesis and progression in which S100A12 is one of the subtypes. However, the role of S100A12 in gastric carcinoma (GC) has not been elucidated yet. This study was aimed to investigate the expression of S100A12 in GC tissues and evaluate the clinical significance of S100A12 in GC patients.

Background/aims: The development-processes by regional socio-cultural adaptation of an Enhanced Asian Rome III questionnaire (EAR3Q), a cultural adaptation of the Rome III diagnostic questionnaire (R3DQ), and its translation-validation in Asian languages are presented. As English is not the first language for most Asians, translation-validation of EAR3Q is essential. Hence, we aimed to culturally adapt the R3DQ to develop EAR3Q and linguistically validate it to show that the EAR3Q is able to allocate diagnosis according to Rome III criteria.

Objective: To explore the efficiency of single application of lobaplatin in tran-scatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) for patients with a primary hepatic carcinoma who were unable or unwilling to undergo surgery.
Methods: 173 patients with primary hepatic carcinoma diagnosed by imaging or pathology were randomly divided into experimental and control groups and respectively treated with lobaplatin and pirarubicin hydrochloride as chemotherapeutic drugs for TACE. The amount of iodipin was regulated according to the tumor number and size, and then gelatin sponge or polyvinyl alcohol particles were applied for embolisms.

Objective: To summarize the clinical and spiral computed tomography (CT) features of undifferentiated embryonic liver sarcoma (UELS) in adults.
Methods: Clinical and CT findings of four adult patients with pathology-approved UELS were retrospectively analyzed with a literature review. All patients were examined using a plain and enhanced spiral CT scan.

Telomerase activity and the expression of telomerase subunits (for example, telomerase reverse transcriptase and telomerase associated protein 1 and telomerase RNA component) of peripheral white blood cells were detected in the patients with acute myelogenous leukaemia (AML) and the correlation between telomerase activity and the expression of telomerase subunits was observed. In 94 peripheral white blood cells from 18 healthy volunteers and 76 patients with AML, including 31 AML at initial presentation, 24 at relapse and 21 at complete remission, the telomerase activity and telomerase subunits mRNA or RNA were detected by PCR-ELISA and RT-PCR respectively. The results showed that the positive rate of telomerase from patients with AML at initial presentation, at relapse and at complete remission was 74.

Objective: To explore the role of nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-kappa B) in the signal conduction of protein kinase C (PKC) regulated proliferation, apoptosis and expression of Th2 cytokines -- interleukin-4 (IL-4) and interleukin-5 (IL-5) of T lymphocytes in the bronchial alveolus lavage fluid (BALF).
Methods: T lymphocytes were isolated and purified from BALF of asthmatic guinea pigs in normal and asthmatic groups, and were stimulated with PKC agitator phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate (PMA) and NF-kappa B inhibitor pyrrolidine dithiocarbamate (PDTC), respectively. The expressions of NF-kappa B, IL-4 and IL-5 mRNA and protein, the proliferation and apoptosis of T lymphocytes were observed by immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization, ELISA, MTT and TUNEL, respectively.
