Spermidine has broad application potential in food, medicine and other fields. In this study, a novel Bacillus amyloliquefaciens cell factory was constructed for production of spermidine from renewablebiomass resources. Firstly, the speB gene was found to be optimal for synthesis of spermidine, and the function of SpeB was explained by amino acid sequence analysis and molecular docking.

The black soldier fly larvae (BSFL) is a highly valued resource insect, renowned for its efficient and eco-friendly approach to the treatment of organic waste. A crucial matter that demands clarification is whether the heavy metals are eliminated or remain within BSFL bodies. Our research focused on the toxicokinetic and the dynamic tissue changes of cadmium (Cd) in BSFL exposed to low (50 mg/kg), moderate (300 mg/kg), and high levels (700 mg/kg) of Cd stress, with the goal of offering a novel perspective on this matter.

This study uncovers the role of H4K8hib as an active epigenetic mark in rice that positively correlates with gene expression and enhances immune responses. Furthermore, HDA705 was identified as the key enzyme regulating H4K8hib. Mutation of HDA705 led to hyper-H4K8hib, which in turn activated the expression of defense-related genes and enhanced rice resistance to pathogens.

Diapause is a prevalent strategy employed by insects to survive adverse environmental conditions, by halting development and reducing metabolic activity. Although the suppression of DNA replication aligns logically with these reduced developmental and physiological activities, the role of DNA replication in regulating insect diapause remains largely unknown. In this study, we used the cabbage beetle, Colaphellus bowringi, to investigate the role of DNA replication pathway in regulating reproductive diapause.

The aging process endows Chenpi (Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae) with unique value and efficacy. This study investigated the dynamic changes in the fine structure, chain conformation, and morphology of water-soluble polysaccharides from Chenpi over time. In the initial storage period of Chenpi (1 year), Chenpi polysaccharides (CP) exhibited a triple-helical structure, with chains entangled and aggregated into rough spherical conformations.

Diethylstilbestrol (DES), a synthetic non-steroid estrogen, it has been prohibited from being added to animal feed for any purposes. Herein, an indirect competitive enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ic-ELISA) based on a specific monoclonal antibody (mAb) was developed for the rapid screening of DES. Primarily, conjugates of mono-O-3-carboxypropyl diethylstilbestrol with keyhole limpet hemocyanin were used to raise a specific mAb, 1B7, which had IC value for DES of 213.

The fungus Botrytis cinerea is a devastating plant pathogen that causes gray mold rot in many fruits and vegetables, leading to substantial losses globally. The pathogen induces a broad range of symptoms, making it challenging to differentiate from other pathogens, especially when plants exhibit no symptoms during visual inspection. Therefore, an efficient early warning and rapid detection system is crucial for surveillance and monitoring plant health, as well as for quantitative pathogen risk assessment to reduce microbial risks.

Effective plant defense against pathogens relies on highly coordinated regulation of immune gene expression. Enhancers, as cis-regulatory elements, are indispensable determinants of dynamic gene regulation, but the molecular functions in plant immunity are not well understood. In this study, we identified a novel enhancer, CORE PATTERN-INDUCED ENHANCER 35 (CPIE35), which is rapidly activated upon pathogenic elicitation and negatively regulates antifungal resistance through modulating WRKY15 expression.
