The hotel manager has the responsibility to stimulate the passion of the staff. The vision, hope/faith, and altruistic love advocated by spiritual leaders can meet the independent psychological needs of employees, thus enhancing their harmonious passion. This study is based on self-determination theory, intrinsic motivation theory and psychological capital theory, and explores the relationship between spiritual leadership and employees' harmonious passion.

Hotel employees' positive behavior is prone to increase customer satisfaction, and thus, exploring the influencing mechanism of role stress on prosocial service behavior is critical to relieving their stress and improving service quality and hotel performance. This study aims to develop and test a moderated mediation model that links hotel employees' role stress to prosocial service behavior. Based on the conservation of resources theory and job demands-resources model, this study suggests that the effect of role stress on prosocial service behavior is mediated by the level of job satisfaction, whereas the relationship between role stress and job satisfaction is moderated by social support.

Alzheimer's disease (AD), which is recognised as a devastating neurodegenerative disease throughout the world and lack of effective treatments, is a growing concern in modern society with a growing population of elderly patients. A growing number of studies reveal that abnormal accumulation and deposition of Aβ is responsible for AD. Inspired by this, strategies for the treatment of AD targeting-Aβ clearance have been discussed for a long period, exploring new drugs which is capable of destroying soluble Aβ oligomers and unsolvable Aβ aggregates.

Metallic oxide nanoparticles (NPs) anchored in biochar provide a promising measure forward into the scaled-up application of these NPs in water treatment, and reducing the size of the dwelled NPs is expected to boost the adsorption performance of biochar-based composites because of the size and surface effect. Nevertheless, it is still of great challenge to regulate the size of the impregnated NPs due to their intrinsic self-agglomeration caused by high surface energy. In this study, we fabricated the charged biochar (C-BC) bearing high-density negatively charged groups (i.

The core microbiome, as a unique group of microorganisms, is an emerging research hotspot that provides a new opportunity to improve growth and production of a host. However, the subjectivity associated with the concept of "core microbiome" means there is currently no uniform definition method for the core microbiome. In this study, the strengths and limitations of four commonly used definition methods for the core microbiome were explored from composition to function based on the 16S rRNA gene dataset of Eucommia ulmoides bark from 25 different biogeographical regions in China.

The tea shrub is grown in long-standing orchards, an environment that is suitable for persistent weed growth, which is increasingly controlled by herbicides. Therefore, there is increasing concern that tea consumers may be exposed to herbicide residues. In this study, the levels of glufosinate-ammonium (GLU), glyphosate [-(phosphonomethyl) glycine; PMG], and its metabolite aminomethyl phosphoric acid (AMPA) were determined in tea samples by HPLC-MS/MS using several current purification methods and a new method that we developed herein.

Transmembrane proteins play a vital role in cell life activities. There are several techniques to determine transmembrane protein structures and X-ray crystallography is the primary methodology. However, due to the special properties of transmembrane proteins, it is still hard to determine their structures by X-ray crystallography technique.

Photodynamic therapy (PDT), as an emerging treatment modality, which takes advantage of reactive oxygen species (ROS) generated upon light illumination to ablate tumours, has suffered from a limited treatment depth, strong oxygen dependence and short ROS lifespan. Herein, we developed a highly efficient NIR-I light (808 nm laser) initiated theranostic system based on a fluorescent photosensitizer (EBD-1) with cancer cell membrane targeting ability, which can realize large penetration depth in tissue, generate superoxide radicals (O ˙) to relieve the oxygen-dependence, confine the ROS oxidation at the cell membrane, and self-report the cell viability during the PDT process. experiments demonstrated that EBD-1 under 808 nm light successfully accomplished remarkable cancer ablation.

We assess the impact of national culture and government policies on social distancing to fight COVID-19 across major economies during the first wave of the pandemic. To do so, we regress government stringency index from Oxford COVID-19 government response tracker together with Hofstede's national culture scores on social distancing data from Google mobility reports. We find that government stringency has a far larger impact on social distancing than national culture.

Developing efficient electrocatalysts for the neutral oxygen evolution reaction (OER) is important but still challenging. Herein, by combining density functional theory calculations and experiments, we have demonstrated that the decoration of RuO2 can effectively accelerate the OER kinetics of Co3O4 in neutral electrolyte. High activity (365 mV at 10 mA cm-2) and decent stability (up to 100 h) are achieved by RuO2-decorated Co3O4 in 1 M PBS electrolyte.

The particulate contamination degree of aviation coolants (ACs) is overestimated commonly because the bubbles in ACs are erroneously recognized as particulate contaminants during the measurement process. In this work, the factors that influence the foam behavior and contamination degree of ACs are investigated. It is evidenced that the foam behavior of ACs is basically unaffected by the ratio of glycol to water of the base solution, which, however, is highly influenced by the organic additive.

To study the combined effects of ocean acidification (OA) and warming on the growth and photosynthetic performance of the economically important marine macroalga Gracilariopsis lemaneiformis, thalli were grown under ambient low CO (390 μatm, LC) and elevated high CO (1000 μatm, HC) conditions with culture temperatures of 20 °C and 24 °C. Based on the evaluation of growth and photosynthetic responses to light and dissolved inorganic carbon (DIC), HC decreased the growth rate and phycoerythrin (PE) and phycocyanin (PC) levels but increased contents of UV-absorbing compounds (UVACs) in G. lemaneiformis at 20 °C, and high temperature counteracted these effects.

Calcium is not only a nutrient necessary for plant growth but also a ubiquitous central element of different signaling pathways. Ca deficiency in soil may cause embryo abortion, which can eventually lead to abnormal development of peanut pods during the harvest season. To further study the mechanisms by which Ca affects the shells and kernels of peanuts, transcriptome sequencing was used to explore the genes differentially expressed in shells and kernels during the early stage of peanut pod development between Ca sufficient and deficient treatments.

Stressful environmental conditions can induce many different acclimation mechanisms in marine phytoplankton, resulting in a range of changes in their photophysiology. Here we characterize the common photophysiological stress response of the model diatom Thalassiosira pseudonana to ten environmental stressors and identify diagnostic responses to particular stressors. We quantify the magnitude and temporal trajectory of physiological parameters including the functional absorption cross-section of PSII (σ ), quantum efficiency of PSII, non-photochemical quenching (NPQ), cell volume, Chl a, and carotenoid (Car) content in response to nutrient starvation (nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), silicon (Si), and iron (Fe)), changes in temperature, irradiance, pH, and reactive oxygen species (ROS) over 5 time points (0, 2, 6, 24, 72 h).
