An in-depth understanding of cancer-cell mitosis presents unprecedented advantages for solving metastasis and proliferation of tumors, which has aroused great interest in visualizing the behavior a luminescence tool. We developed a fluorescent molecule CBTZ-yne based on substituent engineering to acquire befitting lipophilicity and electrophilicity for anchoring lipid droplets and the nucleus, in which the low polarity environment and nucleic acids triggered a "weak-strong" fluorescence and "short-long" fluorescence-lifetime response. Meaningfully, CBTZ-yne visualized chromatin condensation, alignment, pull-push, and separation as well as lipid droplet dynamics, for the first time, precisely unveiling the asynchronous cellular mitosis processes affected by photo-generation reactive oxygen species according to the subtle change of fluorescence-lifetime.

Four-Order Power Reduction in Nanoscale Electron-Nuclear Double Resonance with a Nitrogen-Vacancy Center in Diamonds.

Nano Lett

March 2024

Institute of Quantum Sensing and College of Optical Science and Engineering, Zhejiang University, Hangzhou 310027, China.

Detecting nuclear spins using single nitrogen-vacancy (NV) centers is of particular importance in nanoscale science and engineering but often suffers from the heating effect of microwave fields for spin manipulation, especially under high magnetic fields. Here, we realize an energy-efficient nanoscale nuclear-spin detection using a phase-modulation electron-nuclear double resonance scheme. The microwave field can be reduced to 1/250 of the previous requirements, and the corresponding power is over four orders lower.

Background: During active infections, plants prevent further spread of pathogenic microorganisms by inducing the rapid programmed death of cells around the infection point. This phenomenon is called the hypersensitive response and is a common feature of plant immune responses. Plants recognize conserved structures of pathogenic microorganisms, called pathogen-associated molecular patterns (PAMPs), .

Systemic pesticide exposure through nectar is a growing global concern linked to loss of insect diversity, especially pollinators. The insecticide sulfoxaflor and the fungicide tebuconazole are currently widely used systemic pesticides which are toxic to certain pollinators. However, their metabolisms in floral or extrafloral nectar under different application methods have not yet been well studied.

J Sci Food Agric

March 2024

School of Food and Biological Engineering, The Key Laboratory for Agricultural Products Processing of Anhui Province, Hefei University of Technology, Hefei, China.

Background: Soy protein gel products are prone to direct oxidation by reactive oxygen during processing and transportation, thus reducing their functional properties and nutritional values. A covalent complex was prepared with soy protein isolate (SPI) and ferulic acid (FA) catalyzed by laccase (LC). The complex was further treated with microbial transglutaminase (TGase) to form hydrogels.

Green finance and environmental, social, and governance: evidence from Chinese listed companies.

Environ Sci Pollut Res Int

November 2023

Faculty of Business and Management, UCSI University, 56000, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

In recent years, academics have paid more attention to green finance, and public companies have reached a broad consensus on the concept of timely environmental, social, and governance (ESG) disclosure. Due to the close relationship between green finance and ESG, this presents an opportunity to determine whether green finance compels companies to actively disclose ESG. The sample for this study consists of China's non-financial A-share listed companies from 2010 to 2021, and the empirical findings demonstrate that green finance can positively influence the ESG performance of listed companies.

Advances in Small Molecules of Flavonoids for the Regulation of Gluconeogenesis.

Curr Top Med Chem

September 2023

Department of Pharmacy, Provincial Clinical Medical College of Fujian Medical University, Fujian Provincial Hospital, Fuzhou, 350001, Fujian, China.

Hyperglycemia resulting from over-gluconeogenesis is a prominent feature of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Therefore, it is very important to reduce glucose output, especially liver glucose output, and maintain blood glucose homeostasis in the treatment of T2DM. It has been found that small molecules of natural flavonoids are able to act on various targets in the gluconeogenic pathways, interfering with rate-limiting enzyme activity or regulating the cascade of hormonal signaling and affecting all levels of transcription factors by limiting the transport of non-sugar substrates.

Unlabelled: To examine the synergetic effects of ocean acidification (OA) and light intensity on the photosynthetic performance of marine diatoms, the marine centric diatom was cultured under ambient low CO (LC, 390 μatm) and elevated high CO (HC, 1000 μatm) levels under low-light (LL, 60 μmol m s) or high-light (HL, 220 μmol m s) conditions for over 20 generations. HL stimulated the growth rate by 128 and 99% but decreased cell size by 9 and 7% under LC and HC conditions, respectively. However, HC did not change the growth rate under LL but decreased it by 9% under HL.
