This paper presents a load-bearing optimization method for customized exoskeleton design based on kinematic gait reconstruction (KGR). For people with acute joint injury, it is no longer probable to obtain the movement gait via computer vision. With this in mind, the 3D reconstruction can be executed from the CT (computed tomography) or MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) of the injured area, in order to generate micro-morphology of the joint occlusion.

Background: Microglia play a crucial role in regulating the progression of traumatic brain injury (TBI). In specific, microglia can self-activate and secrete various substances that exacerbate or alleviate the neuroimmune response to TBI. In addition, microRNAs (miRNAs) are involved in the functional regulation of microglia.

Background: Acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is a serious cardiovascular disease that adversely affects human health. Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are involved in the pathological and physiological processes of AMI, but the biological mechanism of their involvement and their clinical significance remain unknown. We aimed to identify circRNAs that are significantly associated with morbidity in the peripheral blood of patients with AMI and evaluate their diagnostic utility.

Background: Lysosome are involved in nutrient sensing, cell signaling, cell death, immune responses and cell metabolism, which play an important role in the initiation and development of multiple tumors. However, the biological function of lysosome in gastric cancer (GC) has not been revealed. Here, we aim to screen lysosome-associated genes and established a corresponding prognostic risk signature for GC, then explore the role and underlying mechanisms.

We investigated the expression and functions of circular RNA (circRNA) circNINL and miR-921 in breast cancer (BC) in this study. We found that the expression of circNINL increased while the expression of miR-921 decreased in BC tissues and cell lines, and their anomalous expressions were associated with malignant features and poor prognostic of BC. Then, we demonstrated that circNINL could interact with miR-921 and facilitate BC cells malignant process including proliferation acceleration, migration enhancement and apoptosis evasion via sponging miR-921 in vitro.

Department of Neurosurgery, The Huangdao District People's Hospital, No. 287 Renmin Road, Qingdao, 266400, Shandong, China.

Glioblastoma is one of the most frequent and aggressive primary tumor of glial brain tumors. Long non-coding RNA Prostate cancer-associated ncRNA transcript 6 (PCAT6) has been identified to influence the progression of many cancers, but its expression and functions in glioblastoma remain unclear. In this study, we intended to investigate the expression, functions and the corresponding mechanisms of PCAT6 in glioblastoma.

Although it is established as a marker of cancer-associated fibroblasts, the expression of fibroblast activation protein (FAP) is not restricted to stromal cells; its expression in multiple types of tumor cell and its pro-tumor functions have been reported. However, the role of FAP in angiogenesis in osteosarcoma remains uncharacterized. In the present study, it was identified that the mRNA and protein expression levels of FAP and vascular endothelial growth factor-A (VEGF-A) corresponded to each other in MG63, U2-OS and HOS osteosarcoma cells.

Department of Neurosurgery, Beijing Tian Tan Hospital, Capital Medical University, 6 Tiantan Xili, Dongcheng District, Beijing, 100050, China.

Secretory meningioma (SM) is a rare histological subtype of the meningioma family. Few reports investigating SM have been published due to its extremely low incidence; thus, the current understanding of this disease is poor. We analyzed the incidence and clinical, radiological, pathological, and prognostic features of SM.

Impairment of insulin-like growth factor I (IGF-I) signaling plays an important role in the development of neurodegeneration. In the present study, we investigated the effect of HO on the survival signaling of IGF-1 and its underlying mechanisms in human neuronal cells SH-SY5Y. Our results showed that IGF-1 promoted cell survival and stimulated phosphorylation of IGF-1R as well as its downstream targets like AKT and ERK1/2 in these cells.

The purpose of this study was to profile altered patterns of gene expression that characterize abdominal aortic aneurysm and to compare these patterns between different conditions, unruptured (URA) and ruptured (RA). Full-thickness aortic wall tissues were obtained from patients during surgical repair of abdominal aortic aneurysm, including unruptured (n=29) and ruptured (n=11). RNA, protein and blood samples were prepared for each specimen, and differential levels of gene expression between unruptured and ruptured abdominal aortic tissues were assessed by immunohistochemistry, RT-qPCR and ELISA assays.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study investigates the use of the antiarrhythmic drug ibutilide after pulmonary vein isolation (PVI) for treating persistent atrial fibrillation (AF), suggesting it may help assess the severity of heart remodeling and inform the need for additional treatment.
  • - In a trial with 96 patients, those treated with ibutilide showed significantly better rates of maintaining sinus rhythm (SR) after one year compared to those receiving only direct current cardioversion (DCC), with rates of 83% versus 60% post-reablation.
  • - The research found that patients who did not convert to SR after ibutilide had larger atrial sizes and greater complexity in their atrial electrical activity, indicating a

Article Synopsis
  • The study evaluated catheter ablation versus direct current synchronized cardioversion (DCC) in patients with persistent atrial fibrillation (AF) and left ventricular dysfunction.
  • Patients (97 in total) underwent DCC or catheter ablation based on preference, with outcomes focusing on maintenance of sinus rhythm (SR) and improvements in cardiac function after 12 months.
  • Results indicated that catheter ablation led to significantly better SR maintenance (68.42%) and improved heart function compared to DCC (35%), particularly benefiting those with worse baseline heart conditions.

Article Synopsis
  • The study examined the expression of microRNA-206 (miR-206) in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) and its role in disease progression.
  • Researchers analyzed serum cholesterol levels and tested miR-206 and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) levels in 78 CAD patients and 65 controls, finding that miR-206 was more abundant in CAD patients.
  • Results indicated that miR-206 may inhibit the growth and movement of endothelial progenitor cells in CAD while promoting their apoptosis, suggesting its potential as a biomarker that regulates VEGF expression in CAD.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the most prevalent type of dementia. Pathological changes in the AD brain include amyloid-β (Aβ) plaques and neurofibrillary tangles (NFTs), as well as neuronal death and synaptic loss. Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) play an important role as inflammatory components in the pathogenesis of AD.
