3-Dimensional Technology-Assisted Minimally Invasive Surgery for the Treatment of Primary Brainstem Hemorrhage: A Prospective Cohort Study.

Background: The objective of this study was to assess the therapeutic efficacy of minimally invasive puncture and drainage (MIPD) facilitated by a 3-dimensional (3D)-printed guide plate in the management of primary brainstem hemorrhage (PBH).

Methods: This single-center, prospective cohort study enrolled 30 PBH patients who underwent MIPD guided by 3D printing technology and 30 PBH patients who received conservative treatment, serving as the control cohort. The primary endpoint was the proportion of patients achieving modified Rankin Scale scores of 1 and 2 at 30 days postdischarge.

Microbiome-host interactions in the pathogenesis of acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

Objective: To explore the underlying mechanisms the airway microbiome contributes to Acute Exacerbation of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease(AECOPD).

Methods: We enrolled 31 AECOPD patients and 26 stable COPD patients, their sputum samples were collected for metagenomic and RNA sequencing, and then subjected to bioinformatic analyses. The expression of host genes was validated by Quantitative Real-time PCR(qPCR) using the same batch of specimens.

Protection of blood-brain barrier by endothelial DAPK1 deletion after stroke.

Death-associated protein kinase (DAPK) 1 is a critical mediator for neuronal cell death in cerebral ischemia, but its role in blood-brain barrier (BBB) disruption is incompletely understood. Here, we found that endothelial-specific deletion of Dapk1 using Tie2 Cre protected the brain of Dapk1 mice against middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO), characterized by mitigated Evans blue dye (EBD) extravasation, reduced infarct size and improved behavior. In vitro experiments also indicated that DAPK1 deletion inhibited oxygen-glucose deprivation (OGD)-induced tight junction alteration between cerebral endothelial cells (CECs).

Multi-modality radiomics model predicts axillary lymph node metastasis of breast cancer using MRI and mammography.

Objectives: We aimed to develop a multi-modality model to predict axillary lymph node (ALN) metastasis by combining clinical predictors with radiomic features from magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and mammography (MMG) in breast cancer. This model might potentially eliminate unnecessary axillary surgery in cases without ALN metastasis, thereby minimizing surgery-related complications.

Methods: We retrospectively enrolled 485 breast cancer patients from two hospitals and extracted radiomics features from tumor and lymph node regions on MRI and MMG images.

EBUS-TBLC increase the diagnosis rate in different type of peripheral pulmonary lesions.

Recently, endobronchial ultrasonography with guide sheath-guided (EBUS-GS) has been increasingly used in the diagnosis of peripheral pulmonary lesions (PPLs) from human natural orifice. However, the diagnostic rate is still largely dependent on the location of the lesion and the probe. Here, we reported a new procedure to improve the diagnostic rate of EBUS-transbronchial lung cryobiopsy (EBUS-TBLC), which performed under general anesthesia with laryngeal mask airway (LMA) in all of the patients.

A pulmonary abscess caused by Porphyromonas endodontalis infection:A case report and literature review.

Porphyromonas endodontalis is an oral anaerobic bacterium associated with periodontitis but seldomly been detected in other diseases. Only one case of respiratory disease caused by Porphyromonas endodontalis, pyopneumothorax, has been reported so far. A 53-year-old man with refractory periodontitis was admitted due to an indeterminate lung space-occupying lesion.

HLA-mismatched micro-transplantation as post-remission treatment compared to autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation or consolidation with single agent cytarabine for favorable-or intermediate-risk acute myeloid leukemia.

Objectives: Optimal post-remission treatment for individual favorable and intermediate risk acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patients has not yet been established. Human leukocyte antigen (HLA)-mismatched stem cell microtransplantation (MST), may improve outcomes and avoid graft-versus-host disease in patients with first complete remission of AML.

Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the efficacy, safety, and survival of 63 patients with favorable- or intermediate-risk AML who received MST, autologous stem cell transplantation (ASCT), or cytarabine single agent (CSA) as post-remission treatment from January 2014 to August 2021.

[Effect of MELK Inhibitor OTSSP167 on Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma].

Objective: To investigate the effect of MELK inhibitor OTSSP167 against diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL).

Methods: The effect of OTSSP167 on activity, proliferation, and apoptosis of DLBCL cell line (SUDHL2 and HBL1) was detected by CCK-8 assay, 5-ethynyl-2'-deoxyuridine (EdU) staining, and Annexin V-FITC/PI double staining, respectively. DLBCL cells were inoculated into nude mice, after 4 weeks of OTSSP167 treatment, the effect of OTSSP167 on DLBCL growth was detected.

Aim: This retrospective study aimed to investigate the independent clinical variables associated with the onset of acute cerebral ischemic stroke (AIS) in patients with stable chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

Method: A total of 244 patients with COPD who had not experienced a relapse within 6 months were included in this retrospective study. Of these, 94 patients hospitalized with AIS were enrolled in the study group, and the remaining 150 were enrolled in the control group.

Radial Endobronchial Ultrasound for Lung Cancer Diagnosis: Tips and Tricks.

Objective: To analyze the therapeutic effect of uterine artery embolisation (UAE) in patients with cesarean section pregnancy (CSP) delivered by cesarean section and the effect on serum human chorionic gonadotrophin (β-HCG) levels and reproductive function.

Methods: In total 142 patients with CSP, The control group ( = 71) received Methotrexate (MTX) with ultrasound monitoring after admission and the research group ( = 71) was treated with UAE on basic of the control group. The two groups were compared in terms of treatment outcome, intraoperative bleeding, bed activity, vaginal bleeding and length of hospital stay, and serum follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), oestradiol (E2), luteinising hormone (LH) and β-HCG levels at 1 month postoperatively.

Methods: We conducted a retrospective study enrolling a total of 125 patients from January 2013 to December 2019. The study group consisted of 40 COPD patients with PE, and the control group had 85 COPD patients without PE.

Impact of anemia on the outcomes of chronic phase chronic myeloid leukemia in TKI era.
