Department of Pharmacy, The Affiliated Huaian NO.1 People's Hospital of Nanjing Medical University, Huaian, 223300, China; Huaian Clinical College of Xuzhou Medical University, Huaian, 223300, China. Electronic address:

Death-associated protein kinase (DAPK) 1 is a critical mediator for neuronal cell death in cerebral ischemia, but its role in blood-brain barrier (BBB) disruption is incompletely understood. Here, we found that endothelial-specific deletion of Dapk1 using Tie2 Cre protected the brain of Dapk1 mice against middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO), characterized by mitigated Evans blue dye (EBD) extravasation, reduced infarct size and improved behavior. In vitro experiments also indicated that DAPK1 deletion inhibited oxygen-glucose deprivation (OGD)-induced tight junction alteration between cerebral endothelial cells (CECs).

Objectives: We aimed to develop a multi-modality model to predict axillary lymph node (ALN) metastasis by combining clinical predictors with radiomic features from magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and mammography (MMG) in breast cancer. This model might potentially eliminate unnecessary axillary surgery in cases without ALN metastasis, thereby minimizing surgery-related complications.

Methods: We retrospectively enrolled 485 breast cancer patients from two hospitals and extracted radiomics features from tumor and lymph node regions on MRI and MMG images.

Recently, endobronchial ultrasonography with guide sheath-guided (EBUS-GS) has been increasingly used in the diagnosis of peripheral pulmonary lesions (PPLs) from human natural orifice. However, the diagnostic rate is still largely dependent on the location of the lesion and the probe. Here, we reported a new procedure to improve the diagnostic rate of EBUS-transbronchial lung cryobiopsy (EBUS-TBLC), which performed under general anesthesia with laryngeal mask airway (LMA) in all of the patients.

Disruption of α-Synuclein Proteostasis in the Striatum and Midbrain of Long-term Ovariectomized Female Mice.

Neuroscience

July 2023

Neuroprotective Drug Discovery Center of Nanjing Medical University, Department of Pharmacology, Nanjing Medical University, Nanjing, PR China. Electronic address:

Epidemiological studies have demonstrated that women are less susceptible to Parkinson's disease (PD) than men. Estrogen exposure is hypothesized to confer protection against dopaminergic neuronal loss in patients with PD. Although the accumulation and propagation of α-synuclein (α-Syn) are closely linked to the clinical progression of PD, no relevant research has examined whether α-Syn proteostasis in the brain is altered in women after menopause.
