Pseudomonas aeruginosa associated with hospital-acquired infection is often resistant to various antibiotics and is associated with high mortality worldwide. The appropriate treatment of Pseudomonas aeruginosa resistant to carbapenems but susceptible to traditional antipseudomonal non-carbapenem β-lactam agents (Car-R/NonCar-S P. aeruginosa) remains unclear.

This study involved designing, synthesizing, and evaluating the protective potential of compounds on microglial cells (BV-2 cells) and neurons (SH-SY5Y cells) against cell death induced by Aβ. It aimed to identify biologically specific activities associated with anti-Aβ aggregation and understand their role in oxidative stress initiation and modulation of proinflammatory cytokine expression. Actively designed compounds CE5, CA5, PE5, and PA5 showed protective effects on BV-2 and SH-SY5Y cells, with cell viability ranging from 60.

This study attempted to evaluate the ovicidal activity of single-component formulations and combination formulations of lemongrass and star anise essential oils (EOs) and their main constituents against housefly eggs. The efficacies of the combinations were compared with those of single-component formulations and α-cypermethrin. Safety bioassays of all treatments and α-cypermethrin on non-target predators-guppy and molly-were conducted.

In this review, we focus on providing basics and examples for each component of the protein therapeutic specifications to interested pharmacists and biopharmaceutical scientists with a goal to strengthen understanding in regulatory science and compliance. Pharmaceutical specifications comprise a list of important quality attributes for testing, references to use for test procedures, and appropriate acceptance criteria for the tests, and they are set up to ensure that when a drug product is administered to a patient, its intended therapeutic benefits and safety can be rendered appropriately. Conformance of drug substance or drug product to the specifications is achieved by testing an article according to the listed tests and analytical methods and obtaining test results that meet the acceptance criteria.

This study compared the number of postural shifts and perceived discomfort while leaning and sitting on an air-filled seat cushion for 1 hour. Sixty office workers typed a standard text while leaning on a cushion placed behind the low back, sitting on a cushion placed under the buttocks, and sitting without a cushion (a control condition). The number of postural shifts was collected using a seat pressure mat device.

Herein, new BiMoO/CsSbBr heterostructure (BiMo/CSB) was investigated for the first time as a visible-light-driven photocatalyst for C(sp)-H bond activation using molecular oxygen as a green oxidant and toluene as a model substrate. The optimized BiMo/CSB photocatalyst exhibited enhanced toluene oxidation activity (2,346 μmol gh), which was almost two- and five-fold that of pristine CSB (1,165 μmol gh) and BiMo (482 μmol gh), respectively. The improved photocatalytic performance was essentially attributed to the formation of staggered band energy lineup in the BiMo/CSB hybrid, which promoted S-scheme charge transfer across the BiMo/CSB heterointerface as supported by ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopy (UPS), density functional theoretical (DFT), time-resolve photoluminescence (TRPL), and photoelectrochemical studies.

Tetrahydrocurcumin (THC) has been shown to possess anti-angiogenic activities. This study aims to investigate the effects of THC on adipose angiogenesis and expression of angiogenic factors that occurs in 60% high-fat diet-induced obese mice. Male ICR mice were randomly divided into 3 groups: mice fed with a low-fat diet (LFD group); mice fed with very high fat diet (VHFD group), and mice fed with VHFD supplemented with THC (300 mg/kg/day orally) (VHFD+THC treated group) for 6 weeks.

The Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale (DASS-21), an introductory scale used to identify common mental disorders (CMDs) among adults, was validated across cultures in Asian populations; nevertheless, its capacity for screening these disorders may be limited for some specified groups, including nursing students. This study attempted to investigate the psychometric scale's unique features of DASS-21 for Thai nursing students in an online learning environment during the COVID-19 outbreak. A cross-sectional study using the multistage sampling technique recruited 3,705 nursing students from 18 universities located in south and northeast Thailand.

A misunderstanding of the mechanism of action and bacterial targets of antibiotics by consumers may drive inappropriate antibiotic use and antimicrobial resistance (AMR). Tackling AMR requires an in-depth understanding of consumer beliefs and misconceptions. We explored consumer conversations on a number of social media platforms on antibiotic use and AMR in the context of sore throat and how coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) affected online conversations between 1 January 2018 and 25 November 2021 across eight countries.

The increasing incidence of methicillin-resistant is a major public health concern. Recently, the performance of essential oil (CHEO) has been shown to contain broad-spectrum antibacterial activity. Therefore, this study aims to determine the antibacterial activity of CHEO alone and in combination with gentamicin against panels of clinical isolates of methicillin-susceptible (MSSA, = 45) and methicillin-resistant (MRSA, = 40).
