Pseudohyponatremia is frequently misunderstood and often mistaken for other types of hyponatremia. In this study, we present a case of pseudohyponatremia resulting from hypertriglyceridemia. We provide an in-depth analysis of the pathophysiological mechanisms involved, comparing them with those of other hyponatremic disorders, and outline the diagnostic approach used to identify this atypical form of hyponatremia.

Background: Sarcopenia, a key aspect of malnutrition in liver cirrhosis (LC), affects 30-70% of LC patients. Given the inconsistent results from RCTs on branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs) for treating sarcopenia in LC, we conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to assess the efficacy and safety of BCAAs for sarcopenia management in LC patients.
Methods: A systematic review and meta-analysis synthesizing evidence from RCTs obtained from PubMed, Embase, Cochrane, Scopus, and Web of Science from inception to April 2024.

Renal medullary carcinoma is a rare undifferentiated tumor of the kidney associated with sickle cell trait and characterized by INI1 (SMARCB1) loss. Although metastasis to lungs, lymph nodes, and bone is commonly reported, distant spread to the central nervous system almost never occurs. Here we present an unusual case of a patient with renal medullary carcinoma with metastasis to the brain following treatment which included tazemetostat, an EZH2 inhibitor.

Background: Immune effector cell (IEC) therapies, including chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)-modified T-cell therapy, have shown efficacy in pediatric B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL) and are being investigated for other malignancies. Electro-tactile stimulation (ETS) can be a promising aid in augmenting sensation for those with sensory deficits. Although applications of ETS have been explored, the impact of ETS on the underlying strategies of neuromuscular coordination remains largely unexplored. We investigated how ETS, alone or in the presence of mechano-tactile environment change, modulated the electromyogram (EMG) of individual muscles during force control and how the stimulation modulated the attributes of intermuscular coordination, assessed by muscle synergy analysis, in human upper extremities.

The magnetic fields of the MR environment present unique safety challenges. Medical implants and retained foreign bodies can prevent patients from undergoing MR imaging due to interactions between the magnetic fields of the MR environment and the implant or foreign body. These hazards can be addressed through careful MR safety screening and MR examination customization, often allowing these patients with implants to undergo management-altering MR imaging.

Background: In this case series, we present longitudinal imaging surveillance of 6 cases of osseous sarcoidosis, each of which was effectively treated with tumor necrosis factor (TNF) inhibition.
Methods: We identified 6 patients from Brooke Army Medical Center with osseous sarcoidosis, who were treated with TNF inhibition and followed with longitudinal imaging studies. Cases of osseous sarcoidosis were defined as having pathologic evidence of noncaseating granulomas on bone biopsy and evidence of osseous lesions on imaging attributable to sarcoidosis by the radiologist, treating clinician, and reviewer.

The rising production and improper disposal of titanium dioxide nanoparticles (TiO NPs) into aquatic systems present considerable environmental challenges, especially when these particles interact with other contaminants such as cadmium (Cd). Thus, the current study aimed to evaluate the potential toxic effects on the gills, chondrocranium, body growth, and mortality of Aquarana catesbeiana tadpoles. Tumor-specific antigens, also known as neoantigens, have potential utility in anti-cancer immunotherapy, including immune checkpoint blockade (ICB), neoantigen-specific T cell receptor-engineered T (TCR-T), chimeric antigen receptor T (CAR-T), and therapeutic cancer vaccines (TCVs). After recognizing presented neoantigens, the immune system becomes activated and triggers the death of tumor cells. Neoantigens may be derived from multiple origins, including somatic mutations (single nucleotide variants, insertion/deletions, and gene fusions), circular RNAs, alternative splicing, RNA editing, and polymorphic microbiome.
