Objective: To evaluate a 6-week sub-symptom threshold aerobic exercise protocol (AEP) versus a stretching protocol (SP) on symptom burden and quality of life (QoL) in adults with persisting post-concussive symptoms (PPCS).
Design: The Aerobic exercise for treatment of Chronic symptoms following mild Traumatic Brain Injury (ACTBI) Trial was a randomized controlled trial with 2 groups.
Setting: Outpatient brain injury, pain, and physiotherapy clinics.

Modern sequencing instruments bring unprecedented opportunity to study within-host viral evolution in conjunction with viral transmissions between hosts. However, no computational simulators are available to assist the characterization of within-host dynamics. This limits our ability to interpret epidemiological predictions incorporating within-host evolution and to validate computational inference tools.

Deficits in social communication and language development are a hallmark of autism spectrum disorder currently with no effective approaches to reduce the negative impact. Interventional studies using animal models have been very limited in demonstrating improved vocal communication. Autism has been proposed to involve metabolic dysregulation.

Rationale: Prior work from our lab and others demonstrates that the endocannabinoid system is a promising avenue for improving fear memory deficits in posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Specifically, 7.5 mg of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) decreases fear responding in healthy adults and increases prefrontal cortex activation during extinction learning and fear renewal in adults with PTSD.

Objective: Despite growing interest in the potential use of exogenous ketones for the treatment of epilepsy, their impact on seizures and the gut microbiome and mycobiome remain unclear.
Methods: Here, we examined the effects of both oral gavage and subcutaneous (SC) injection of a ketone ester (KE) in spontaneously epileptic Kcna1-null (KO) mice that model seminal aspects of human temporal lobe epilepsy. Electroencephalographic recordings and biochemical analyses were performed in KE-treated KO mice.

Chronic pain is a debilitating condition that affects up to 1.5 billion people worldwide and bears a tremendous socioeconomic burden. The success of pain medicine relies on our understanding of the type of pain experienced by patients and the mechanisms that give rise to it.

Aim: To compare, in term-born children with cerebral palsy (CP), the characteristics of those who exhibit detectable risk factors for CP at birth with those who do not.
Method: This was a cross-sectional study of term-born children using the Canadian Cerebral Palsy Registry comparing those with and without perinatal risk factors and/or neonatal symptoms for pregnancy, birth and neonatal characteristics, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings, CP subtype, and impairment severity. Risk factors were quantified with a CP risk calculator.

The South American lungfish Lepidosiren paradoxa inhabits areas with variable pluvial regimes. During aestivation (dormancy state observed in some species during dry seasons), the prolonged period of dryness imposes osmotic stress. We aimed to investigate the physiological and morphological adaptations of RBCs in Lepidosiren paradoxa during aestivation.
