The nuclear industry is rapidly developing and the effective management of nuclear waste and monitoring the nuclear fuel cycle are crucial. The presence of various radionuclides such as uranium (U), europium (Eu), technetium (Tc), iodine (I), thorium (Th), cesium (Cs), and strontium (Sr) in the environment is a major concern, and the development of materials with high adsorption capacity and selectivity is essential for their effective removal. Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have recently emerged as promising materials for removing radioactive elements from water resources due to their unique properties such as tunable pore size, high surface area, and chemical structure.

Radioactive europium can be released as a fission product during nuclear incidents and pose a threat to the human and surrounding environment because of its biological activity and long decay half-lives. For safe design issues and human health protection demands in construction of the planned nuclear power plants (NPPs) at Al-Dabaa site, it is necessary to study the sorption and transport of different radionuclides as europium within the selected area for predicting their fate at any crisis. Many soil samples were collected from different locations at the area selected along the northwestern coast of Egypt.

This study targeted to investigate the efficacy of a novel nano 2-naphtyl amine6:6-azulene sodium methanesulfonate di sulphonic acid-impregnated zeolite scavenger for simultaneous elimination of Cs and Sr ions from binary aqueous systems. Fractal analysis is introduced to assign a fractal dimension and other fractal characteristics necessary for the surface characterization in terms of fractal dimension (D) and pre-exponential coefficient (C), which, in theory, are independent tool and sole for each surface. It is found that the D value of nano 2-naphtyl amine6:6-azulene sodium methanesulfonate di sulphonic acid-impregnated zeolite of type Y (NAASMS-ZY) is higher than that of nano 2-naphtyl amine6:6-azulene sodium methanesulfonate di sulphonic acid-impregnated zeolite of type X (NAASMS-ZX) and nano 2-naphtyl amine6:6-azulene sodium methanesulfonate di sulphonic acid-impregnated zeolite of type A (NAASMS-ZA) which accordingly, suggests the irregularity of NAASMS-ZY surface and thus demonstrates a large surface area.

The feasibility of using magnetic nano-zeolite (MNZ) to remove cesium and strontium from their binary corrosive solutions was investigated by considering the multi-variant/multi-objective nature of the process. RSM (Response Surface Methodology) and ANN (Artificial Neural Network) were used to model and optimize the removal system and assess sensitive parameters that can affect the process reliability. MNZ is characterized by its high surface area and cation exchange capacity and possesses good regeneration behavior for both elements using citric acid.

A10, (3-phenylacetylamino-2,6-piperidinedione), is a natural peptide with broad antineoplastic activity. Recently, in vitro antitumor effect of a new A10 analog [3-(4-methoxybenzoylamino)-2,6-piperidinedione] (MPD) has been verified. However, poor aqueous solubility represents an obstacle towards intravenous formulation of MPD and impedes successful in vivo antitumor activity.
