The glioma-astrocyte interaction plays an important role in tumor microenvironment remodeling; however, the underlying mechanism has not been completely clarified. In this study, we show that glioma cells stimulate normal human astrocyte (NHA) into reactive astrocyte (RAS) in a non-contact manner. Additionally, the amount of O6-alkylguanine DNA alkyltransferase (MGMT) mRNA in exosomes (EXOs) released by RAS was significantly increased compared with that in non-reactive NHA.

Background And Aims: It is unclear whether white blood cell on admission has a prognosis value on ischemic stroke and whether its function is affected by other inflammation factors. We hypothesized that elevated white blood cell is associated with stroke severity and 3-month mortality after acute ischemic stroke.
Methods: A total of 3891 acute ischemic stroke subjects from the China Antihypertensive Trial in Acute Ischemic Stroke (CATIS) were included in this analysis.
Necroptosis is a manner of caspase-independent cell death, which accounts for delayed ischemic cerebral injury, and can be used as a novel tool to expand the treatment time window in ischemic cerebral injury. Q-VD-OPH, a novel pan caspase inhibitor, has been identified as an inducer of necroptosis. In this study, we determined the optimal dose of Q-VD-OPH, which induces necroptosis in rats by the middle cerebral artery occlusion, followed by reperfusion.

The aim of the present study was to investigate the functional role of Frizzled-7 (FZD7) in the apoptosis of hepatoma cells. HepG2 and Huh-7 hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cell lines with FZD7 expression were selected for use in the present study. The small hairpin RNA (shRNA) eukaryotic expression vector specific to FZD7 was constructed using gene recombination, and was then transfected into HepG2 and Huh-7 hepatoma cell lines using Lipofectamine 2000 to assess whether the downregulation of FZD7 could affect the proliferative ability of these cells.

Aberrant expressions of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are the culprits of carcinogenesis via regulating the tumor suppressor or oncogene. LncRNA nuclear enriched abundant transcript 1 (NEAT1) has been identified to be an oncogene to promote tumor growth and metastasis of many cancers. However, the clinical significance and function of NEAT1 in osteosarcoma (OS) remain to be discovered.

Background: Sensitive skin (SS) seems not to be a one-dimensional condition and many scholars concentrate on skin barrier disruption or sensorineural change, but few focus on its increased vascular reactivity. This study explored the possibility of using the different selection methods and measurement methods to verify a high vascular reactivity in SS without an impaired cutaneous barrier function.
Methods: Sixty "self-perceived sensitive skin" volunteers were enlisted and each one completed three kinds of screening tests: assess cutaneous sensory using questionnaire survey and Lactic Acid Sting Test (LAST); assess barrier function using Sodium lauryl sulphate (SLS) skin irritation test and assess cutaneous vascular reactivity using 98% DMSO test and non-invasive measurement.
Background: We studied the effect of early antihypertensive treatment on death, major disability, and vascular events among patients with acute ischemic stroke according to their baseline SBP.
Methods: We randomly assigned 4071 acute ischemic stroke patients with SBP between 140 and less than 220 mmHg to receive antihypertensive treatment or to discontinue all antihypertensive medications during hospitalization. A composite primary outcome of death and major disability and secondary outcomes were compared between treatment and control stratified by baseline SBP levels of less than 160, 160-179, and at least 180 mmHg.
