Italian Expert Opinion on Chronic Hand Eczema: from Guidelines to Clinical Practice.

Introduction: Chronic hand eczema (CHE) is an inflammatory skin condition characterized by different pathomechanisms, clinical presentations, and prognoses. Treatment is often challenging because of limited approved drugs, and severe CHE is associated with reduced quality of life (QoL) and poor overall health measures in terms of psychological, functional, and occupational challenges. This study aims to describe the real-life management practices of Italian dermatologists who frequently treat patients with CHE, compare these practices with existing guidelines, and propose practical clinical recommendations for the management of these patients.

Precision oncology implementation in a regional-based health care system: A professional consensus to define the pathway.

Objective: Precision Oncology requires deep changes in organizational settings but little evidence has been identified about the best strategy to guarantee the delivery of this innovation to patients. In the Italian health care system, high heterogeneity could jeopardize equal access opportunity for patients. Following a consensus method, we aim to define shared solutions to address these issues in clinical practice.

How reliable is assessment of true vocal cord-arytenoid unit mobility in patients affected by laryngeal cancer? a multi-institutional study on 366 patients from the ARYFIX collaborative group.

Purpose: In clinical practice the assessment of the "vocal cord-arytenoid unit" (VCAU) mobility is crucial in the staging, prognosis, and choice of treatment of laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC). The aim of the present study was to measure repeatability and reliability of clinical assessment of VCAU mobility and radiologic analysis of posterior laryngeal extension.

Methods: In this multi-institutional retrospective study, patients with LSCC-induced impairment of VCAU mobility who received curative treatment were included; pre-treatment endoscopy and contrast-enhanced imaging were collected and evaluated by raters.

Ultrasound Features of Onychopapilloma at High-Frequency and Ultra-High Frequency.

Objective: This study aimed to identify the sonographic features of pathologically confirmed onychopapilloma cases.

Methods: High-frequency up to 24 MHz and ultra-high frequency-ultrasound up to 71 MHz examinations were performed and correlated with their clinical and pathologic presentations.

The successful treatment of patients affected by B-cell malignancies with Chimeric Antigen Receptor (CAR)-T cells represented a breakthrough in the field of adoptive cell therapy (ACT). However, CAR-T therapy is not an option for every patient, and several needs remain unmet. In particular, the production of CAR-T cells is expensive, labor-intensive and logistically challenging; additionally, the toxicities deriving from CAR-T cells infusion, such as cytokine release syndrome (CRS) and immune effector cell-associated neurotoxicity syndrome (ICANS), have been documented extensively.

How to perform and interpret a middle cerebral artery transcranial Doppler examination in children at risk of brain injury.

Transcranial Doppler (TCD) ultrasound is a non-invasive neuromonitoring technique that falls under the umbrella of point-of-care ultrasound. In this article, we provide a primer to encourage clinicians to perform TCD examinations and to aid them with accurately interpreting the scans. We focus on the middle cerebral artery waveforms and use traumatic brain injury as a model for brain insult.

Epidemiology and drug susceptibility of nontuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) in Italy in 2016-2020.

Introduction: Nontuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) are environmental mycobacteria which may cause pulmonary and extrapulmonary diseases. These organisms are difficult to treat due to their intrinsic drug-resistance. In Italy, no major nationwide study on NTM epidemiology and drug susceptibility was performed.

Preoperative Transcatheter Diagnosis of Right Atrial Hemangioma.

A 34-year-old man with unremarkable past medical history presents with night sweats and a recent diagnosis of intracardiac mass. Background: Immune and vascular ageing are proposed risk factors for giant cell arteritis (GCA). Data on the impact of age at diagnosis of GCA on the clinical presentation and course of the disease are scarce.

Methods: Patients with GCA followed at referral centres within the Italian Society of Rheumatology Vasculitis Study Group were enrolled up to November 2021.

Background: Two main aspects lead the implementation of precision oncology into clinical practice: the adoption of extended genome sequencing technologies and the institution of the Molecular Tumor Boards (MTBs). CIPOMO (Italian Association of Heads of Oncology Department) promoted a national survey across top health care professionals to gain an understanding of the current state of precision oncology in Italy.

Methods: Nineteen questions were sent via the SurveyMonkey platform to 169 heads of oncology departments.

Celiac disease prevalence and predisposing-HLA in a cohort of 93 Williams-Beuren syndrome patients.

Williams-Beuren syndrome is considered to be at increased risk for celiac disease, as for recent literature data and celiac disease guidelines, despite pathogenic mechanisms are still unclear. Our study analyzed the prevalence of autoimmune disorders, HLA DQ2 and/or DQ8 haplotypes, of transglutaminase antibodies and of diagnosis of celiac disease in a cohort of 93 Williams-Beuren syndrome's patients (mean age 21.26 years).

Successful treatment of ruptured multiple fusiform middle cerebral artery aneurysms with Silk Vista Baby flow diverter in a 10-month-old infant.

We report the successful treatment of multiple ruptured fusiform middle cerebral artery (MCA) aneurysms in a 10-month-old girl. This previously healthy infant presented with subarachnoid hemorrhage and was found to have multiple irregular dilatations of the superior division branch of the right MCA. Cerebral angiography was performed and confirmed the presence of multiple fusiform aneurysms of the MCA.

In this varied and growing landscape of new devices, Canfield (Canfield Scientific, Parsippany, NJ, USA) has proposed a series of static and portable 3D imaging systems. The aim of this systematic review was to evaluate the current literature regarding the validation of Canfield's Vectra imaging systems.

The Accuracy of Jaws Repositioning in Bimaxillary Orthognathic Surgery in Patients with Cleft Lip and Palate Compared to Non-Syndromic Skeletal Class III Patients.

: The present study aims to compare the accuracy of jaw repositioning in bimaxillary orthognathic surgery using digital surgical planning in cleft lip and palate patients and in non-syndromic skeletal class III patients in order to investigate if orthognathic surgery achieves different results in the first group of patients. : This study included 32 class III adult patients divided into 2 groups: cleft lip and palate (A, = 16) and non-cleft (B, = 16). For each patient, a 2D pre-surgical visual treatment objective was performed by the surgeon to predict hard tissue changes, and the surgical outcome was compared with that planned by using cephalometric measurement (ANB, SNA, SNB, Ar-Go-Me, S-Ar-Go).

Background: Intracranial hemorrhage (ICH) is a highly serious event in patients with haemophilia (PWH) which leads to disability and in some cases to death. ICH occurs among all ages but is particularly frequent in newborns. Aim: The primary aim was to assess the incidence and mortality due to ICH in an Italian population of PWH.

Genotypes and phenotypes heterogeneity in PIK3CA-related overgrowth spectrum and overlapping conditions: 150 novel patients and systematic review of 1007 patients with PIK3CA pathogenetic variants.

Background: Postzygotic activating variants cause several phenotypes within the -related overgrowth spectrum (PROS). Variant strength, mosaicism level, specific tissue involvement and overlapping disorders are responsible for disease heterogeneity. We explored these factors in 150 novel patients and in an expanded cohort of 1007 mutated patients, analysing our new data with previous literature to give a comprehensive picture.
