Effect of depression and the antidepressant fluoxetine on osseointegration-A pre-clinical in vivo experimental study.

Objective: The aim of this study was to explore the effect of depression and selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors on implant osseointegration and bone healing.

Methods: Forty-eight 6- to 8-week-old SPF Sprague-Dawley male rats were randomly divided into four groups: the Control group, the Fluoxetine group, the Depression group and the De&Flu group. The rats in the Depression group and the De&Flu group were subjected to a depression modelling process, and the rats in the Control group and the Fluoxetine group were raised normally.

Objective: High-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) has been reported to be associated with pain symptoms of various diseases, and its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant mediation is related to the pathogenesis of chronic pain. This study aims to evaluate the relationship between HDL-C levels and chronic pain in American adults.

Methods: This cross-sectional study used data from American adults aged 20 and above during the 2003-2004 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) cycle.

Comparison of the Time and Accuracy of Intraoral Scans Performed by Dentists, Nurses, Postgraduates, and Undergraduates.

Objective: This study aimed to assess the scanning time (ST) and accuracy of 10 repeated upper and lower dentition scans by four groups of operators with different professional backgrounds.

Methods: There were a total of 32 participants, including dentists, nurses, postgraduates, and undergraduates (n=8). They received the same training about intraoral scanning and then performed 10 repeat scans on the plaster maxillary and mandibular dentition models in a manikin head, with the first five scans being the T1 phase and the last five scans being the T2 phase.

Although tissue engineering offered new approaches to repair bone defects, it remains a great challenge to create a bone-friendly microenvironment and rebuild bone tissue rapidly by a scaffold with a bionic structure. In this study, a multifunctional structurally optimized hydrogel scaffold was designed by integrating polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), gelatin (Gel), and sodium alginate (SA) with aspirin (ASA) and nano-hydroxyapatite (nHAP). The fabrication procedure is through a dual-crosslinking process.

This article describes a novel method for simultaneously fabricating a custom glass fiber post-and-core and the corresponding crown. The critical step, defined as a post-and-core virtual try-in, is to construct a virtual crown abutment that mimics the profile of a real one gained after post-cementation and tooth preparation.

Salivary microbiome and metabolome analysis of severe early childhood caries.

Background: Severe early childhood caries (SECC) is an inflammatory disease with complex pathology. Although changes in the oral microbiota and metabolic profile of patients with SECC have been identified, the salivary metabolites and the relationship between oral bacteria and biochemical metabolism remains unclear. We aimed to analyse alterations in the salivary microbiome and metabolome of children with SECC as well as their correlations.
