Cisplatin is a potent cytotoxic agent used in the treatment of various malignancies and exerts its antitumor effect through malignant cell DNA damage and apoptosis induction. Evaluation of systemic delivery of cisplatin is important in optimization of cisplatin treatment. However, accurate quantification of systemic cisplatin is challenging due to its various forms in circulation.

Background: Telepalliative care is increasingly used in palliative care, but has yet to be examined from a patient and family perspective. A synthesis of evidence may provide knowledge on how to plan and provide telepalliative care that caters specifically to patients and families' needs.
Objective: To synthesise evidence on patients and families' perspectives on telepalliative care.

Postacute symptoms are not uncommon after severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection with pre-Omicron variants. How the Omicron variant and coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) booster vaccination influence the risk of postacute symptoms is less clear. We analyzed data from a nationwide Danish questionnaire study, EFTER-COVID, comprising 36 109 individuals aged ≥15 years who were tested between July 2021 and January 2022, to evaluate the associations of the Omicron variant and COVID-19 booster vaccination with postacute symptoms and new-onset general health problems 4 months after infection with SARS-CoV-2.

It is not well-described how the acute symptoms of infection with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) differ by variant, vaccination, sex and age. A cross-sectional questionnaire study linked to national testing- and registry data was conducted among 148,874 SARS-CoV-2 first time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test-positive individuals and corresponding date-matched symptomatic test-negative controls. Major SARS-CoV-2 variants (Index/wild type, Alpha, Delta and Omicron) were defined using periods of predominance.

We developed four algorithms for the automatic capture of C-reactive protein (CRP) peaks in 296 adult patients with acute myeloid leukemia who had bloodstream infection (BSI) episodes, negative blood cultures (BCs) or possible infections where no BCs were performed. The algorithms detected CRP peaks for 418-446 of the 586 documented BSI episodes (71.3-76.

Background: Adherence is a prerequisite for the efficacy of any drug, and previous studies have shown that non-adherence is associated with disease activity and increased health care cost in multiple sclerosis (MS). The aim of this study was to investigate rates and reasons for discontinuation of dimethyl fumarate (DMF) among people with MS on a national level and differences between clinics in Denmark.
Methods: This was a nationwide, registry and population study of patients treated with DMF.

Context: Cholesterol carried in lipoprotein(a) adds to measured low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) and may therefore drive some diagnoses of clinical familial hypercholesterolemia (FH).
Objective: We investigated plasma lipoprotein(a) in individuals referred to Danish lipid clinics and evaluated the effect of plasma lipoprotein(a) on a diagnosis of FH.
Methods: Individuals referred to 15 Danish lipid clinics who were suspected of having FH according to nationwide referral criteria were recruited between September 1, 2020 and November 30, 2021.

Background: Metastatic triple-negative breast cancer (mTNBC) is an aggressive subtype of breast cancer with poor survival. Currently, the literature lacks comprehensive real-world evidence on locally recurrent and mTNBC patients. To validate the optimal treatment for patients with mTNBC, real-world evidence in combination with data from clinical trials must be evaluated as complementary.

Post-acute sick leave is an underexplored indicator of the societal burden of SARS-CoV-2. Here, we report findings about self-reported sick leave and risk factors thereof from a hybrid survey and register study, which include 37,482 RT-PCR confirmed SARS-CoV-2 cases and 51,336 test-negative controls who were tested during the index- and alpha-dominant waves. We observe that an additional 33 individuals per 1000 took substantial sick leave following acute infection compared to persons with no known history of infection, where substantial sick leave is defined as >1 month of sick leave within the period 1-9 months after the RT-PCR test date.

Introduction: Staff shortages and quality in obstetric care is a concern in most healthcare systems and a hot topic in the public debate that has centred on complaints about deficient care. However there has been a lack of empirical data to back the debate. The aim of this study was to analyse and describe complaints in obstetric care.

Background: It has not previously been clarified if COVID-19 triggers disease activity and increases the risk of hospitalisation with COVID-19 in patients with multiple sclerosis. We examined the association between COVID-19 and the use of systemic corticosteroids prescriptions and hospital contacts at neurological departments as proxies of disease activity among patients with multiple sclerosis. Furthermore, we examined whether patients with multiple sclerosis were more likely to be hospitalised with COVID-19 compared to references.

Rickettsia helvetica has been reported at varying prevalences in Danish and other European Ixodes ricinus populations. Though apparently widespread and with reported cases of human infection, the significance of the bacteria as a threat to public health remains unclear. We present a nation-wide survey of rickettsia in ticks, roe deer and humans in Denmark.

Objective: This study aimed to assess the diagnostic yield of prenatal genetic testing using trio whole exome sequencing (WES) and trio whole genome sequencing (WGS) in pregnancies with fetal anomalies by comparing the results with conventional chromosomal microarray (CMA) analysis.
Methods: A total of 40 pregnancies with fetal anomalies or increased nuchal translucency (NT ≥ 5 mm) were included between the 12th and 21st week of gestation. Trio WES/WGS and CMA were performed in all cases.

A syndemic is the co-existence of two or more health problems (including both social and biological features) that adversely influence each other with negative consequences on disease outcomes and perpetuation of inequalities. The syndemic approach can be applied to better understand the course of rheumatic musculoskeletal diseases (RMD) involving the study of adverse biological pathways and social determinants of health (SDH) all under the same framework. Identifying if a syndemic exists within RMDs may include investigating the synergic interactions between comorbidity (e.

Background And Aims: It is unclear to what extent genetic testing improves the ability to diagnose familial hypercholesterolaemia (FH). We investigated the percentage with FH among individuals referred to Danish lipid clinics, and evaluated the impact of genetic testing for a diagnosis of FH.
Methods: From September 2020 through November 2021, all patients referred for possible FH to one of the 15 Danish lipid clinics were invited for study participation and >97% (n = 1488) accepted.

Background: Care home residents are frail, multi-morbid, and have an increased risk of experiencing acute hospitalisations and adverse events. This study contributes to the discussion on preventing acute admissions from care homes. We aim to describe the residents' health characteristics, survival after care home admission, contacts with the secondary health care system, patterns of admissions, and factors associated with acute hospital admissions.
