Ultrasound Obstet Gynecol
September 2022
Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Arnas Civico Hospital, Palermo, Italy.
Objective: To evaluate the performance of third-trimester ultrasound for the diagnosis of clinically significant placenta accreta spectrum disorder (PAS) in women with low-lying placenta or placenta previa.
Methods: This was a prospective multicenter study of pregnant women aged ≥ 18 years who were diagnosed with low-lying placenta (< 20 mm from the internal cervical os) or placenta previa (covering the internal cervical os) on ultrasound at ≥ 26 + 0 weeks' gestation, between October 2014 and January 2019. Ultrasound suspicion of PAS was raised in the presence of at least one of these signs on grayscale ultrasound: (1) obliteration of the hypoechogenic space between the uterus and the placenta; (2) interruption of the hyperechogenic interface between the uterine serosa and the bladder wall; (3) abnormal placental lacunae.

Objective: To evaluate the basal/total ratio of daily insulin dose (b/T) in outpatients with diabetes type 1 (DM1) and type 2 (DM2) on basal-bolus regimen, by investigating whether there is a relationship with HbA1c and episodes of hypoglycemia.
Methods: Multicentric, observational, cross-sectional study in Italy. Adult DM1 ( = 476) and DM2 ( = 541) outpatients, with eGFR >30 mL/min/1.

Background: This study evaluated the predictors of effectiveness and durability of insulin pump therapy in children and adolescents who have initiated continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion (CSII) within 2 years after the diagnosis of type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM).
Subjects And Methods: The charts of individuals with T1DM using insulin pumps who were treated at our center were reviewed, including subjects with age at onset of <22 years, interval between onset and insulin pump commencement (interval onset-commencement) of <2 years, use of pumps of >1 year, and use of glucose sensors for <4 weeks/year. The primary end point was the mean glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c) value (MHbA1c) throughout the follow-up.

Objective: A great number of factors can interfere with levothyroxine (LT4) tablet absorption, leading to increased serum thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) levels and, accordingly, to increased LT4 requirements. LT4 oral solution (LT4-OS) is a novel formulation with a pharmacokinetics profile different from those of tablets. The aim of this study was to retrospectively evaluate whether serum TSH levels were decreased after switching adult hypothyroid patients from the tablet to LT-OS.

Background: Neck lymph nodes may be involved in the pathogenesis of chronic autoimmune thyroiditis (CAT). This study was undertaken to identify which of the sonographic features of cervical lymph nodes are readily applicable to patients affected by CAT compared to healthy control subjects.
Methods: We recruited 106 patients (92 females and 14 males) with CAT and 70 control subjects (53 females and 17 males) without clinical, biochemical, and ultrasonographic evidence of thyroid and neck diseases.
