Importance of an Ongoing Nutritional Counselling Intervention on Eating Habits of Newly Diagnosed Children with Celiac Disease.

A strict lifelong gluten-free diet (GFD) is the current treatment for the management of celiac disease (CD). Several studies have demonstrated that without proper dietary assessment, this diet leads to nutritional deficiencies and/or imbalances. The present study aimed to improve the dietary habits of newly diagnosed children with CD through ongoing and face-to-face dietary counseling.

Performance of blood enterovirus and parechovirus polymerase chain reaction testing in young febrile infants: a prospective multicentre observational study.

Objectives: To analyse the performance of blood enterovirus and parechovirus PCR testing (ev-PCR) for invasive bacterial infection (IBI) (isolation of a single bacterial pathogen in a blood or cerebrospinal fluid culture) when evaluating well-appearing infants ≤90 days of age with fever without a source (FWS).

Methods: We describe the well-appearing infants ≤90 days of age with FWS and normal urine dipstick. We performed a prospective, observational multicentre study at five paediatric emergency departments between October 2020 and September 2023.

One-year quality of life among post-hospitalization COVID-19 patients.

Invasive bacterial infection in children with fever and petechial rash in the emergency department: a national prospective observational study.

Objective: To determine the incidence and clinical predictors of invasive bacterial infection (IBI) in well-appearing children who present to the emergency department (ED) with fever and petechiae.

Design: A prospective, observational, multicentre study was conducted in 18 hospitals between November 2017 and October 2019.

Patients: A total of 688 patients were recruited.

Exploring the Quality of Life Related to Health and Vision in a Group of Patients with Diabetic Retinopathy.

(1) Background: Visual impairment of people with diabetic retinopathy (DR) and its high impact on different dimensions of their lives can cause a significant deterioration in the quality of life. The aim of this study was to examine the association and relationship between quality of life related to vision and the relevant clinical and sociodemographic variables in a group of patients with DR in Spain. (2) Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted in all patients with DR over 18 years under follow-up in the Retina Service of the University Hospital of Burgos (HUBU), recruited during the months of January and February 2020.

Description of Two Families with New Mutations in Familial Cerebral Cavernous Malformations Genes.

Cerebral cavernous malformations (CCMs) are dilated aberrant leaky capillaries located in the Central Nervous System. Familial CCM is an autosomal dominant inherited disorder related to mutations in KRIT1, Malcavernin or PDCD10. We show two unrelated families presenting familial CCM due to two new mutations in KRIT1 and PDCD10, producing truncated proteins.

Febrile young infants with abnormal urine dipstick at low risk of invasive bacterial infection.

Objectives: To develop and validate a prediction rule to identify well-appearing febrile infants aged ≤90 days with an abnormal urine dipstick at low risk of invasive bacterial infections (IBIs, bacteraemia or bacterial meningitis).

Design: Ambispective, multicentre study.

Setting: The derivation set in a single paediatric emergency department (ED) between 2003 and 2017.
