Enfortumab vedotin (EV) is an antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) that combines monomethyl auristatin E (MMAE), a potent cytotoxic agent, with a monoclonal antibody targeting Nectin-4. It has emerged as a promising therapy for metastatic urothelial carcinoma (mUC), either as monotherapy or in combination with pembrolizumab, improving significantly the overall survival of these patients. EV is associated with common adverse events, including skin reactions, glucose imbalance, and peripheral neuropathy, which are usually mild in severity and easily manageable.

Lifespan extension with preservation of hippocampal function in aged system x-deficient male mice.

Laboratory of Neuro-Aging & Viro-Immunotherapy, Center for Neurosciences (C4N), Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), Brussels, Belgium.

The cystine/glutamate antiporter system x has been identified as the major source of extracellular glutamate in several brain regions as well as a modulator of neuroinflammation, and genetic deletion of its specific subunit xCT (xCT) is protective in mouse models for age-related neurological disorders. However, the previously observed oxidative shift in the plasma cystine/cysteine ratio of adult xCT mice led to the hypothesis that system x deletion would negatively affect life- and healthspan. Still, till now the role of system x in physiological aging remains unexplored.

Background: Hypercalcemia of malignancy is not uncommon in patients with advanced stage cancer. In rare cases the cause of the hypercalcemia is excessive production of calcitriol, the active form of vitamin D. Although inappropriate tumoral secretion of calcitriol is typically associated with lymphomas and some ovarian germ cell tumors, we present a case of calcitriol overproduction-induced hypercalcemia due to a pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor.

In order to assess the contribution of FC to the diagnosis of lymph node disorders we retrospectively compared the pathological and the FC diagnosis made in 118 consecutive lymph node biopsies. Pathological diagnosis included non malignant conditions (n = 43), B-cell Non Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) (n = 30), T-cell NHL (1 case), carcinoma (n = 18), Hodgkin lymphoma (HL) (n = 15), melanoma (n = 2), chronic myelocytic leukemia (n = 12), miscellaneous non-lymphoid tissues (n = 6) and undetermined conditions (n = 2). Among the 116 assessable samples, FC was in agreement with histology in 102 cases (87.

Seventy autologous peripheral blood stem cell transplants (APBSCT) performed in 61 cancer patients were retrospectively analyzed. Patients were heterogenous with regard to malignancy, conditioning regimens and use of growth factors after transplantation. Six patients developed a non-infectious fever, fluid retention and pulmonary interstitial infiltrates during the early phase of neutrophil recovery.
