Some studies have confirmed that pathogens can cause infection through bacterial cultures on the surface of infectious keloids. However, further exploration of the comparison between infectious and non-infectious keloids and the bacterial flora of infectious foci is lacking. To investigate the differential flora of purulent secretions on the surface of infectious keloids compared to non-infectious keloids and to determine the microbial composition within the infectious foci.

  • The study focused on evaluating the antimicrobial resistance patterns in MRSA strains obtained from patients at Bac Ninh Provincial General Hospital in Vietnam, highlighting serious public health concerns.
  • Out of 15,232 clinical samples, 2.7% showed MRSA presence, with the majority coming from wound infections and surgical units.
  • The findings revealed high resistance rates, particularly to azithromycin, while MRSA strains remained fully susceptible to vancomycin, indicating an urgent need for better antibiotic management strategies.

  • This study examines wound infections at a hospital in Vietnam, looking at the bacteria causing these infections and their resistance to antibiotics from 2014 to 2021.
  • Over a third of wound infection samples tested positive for bacteria, with high resistance to antibiotics like ampicillin (91.9%) in Gram-negative bacteria, while some treatments like colistin remained effective.
  • The research underscores significant multidrug resistance, especially in Gram-negative bacteria, and stresses the need for improved infection control strategies within hospitals.

Indeterminate cell histiocytosis is a rare proliferative histiocytic disease with an unknown aetiology, which shares immunophenotypic features of both Langerhans cells and macrophages. There is a relationship between indeterminate cell histiocytosis and cancer, while there are no reports about indeterminate cell histiocytosis and bullous pemphigoid. In this study, we reported the rare case of a patient with primary cutaneous indeterminate cell histiocytosis who had been diagnosed with oesophagal cancer and later developed bullous pemphigoid.

  • The study explores gepotidacin, a new treatment for gonorrhea, and investigates genetic changes in the GyrA and ParC targets of gonococci using a large dataset of genomes.
  • Key findings show that alterations at GyrA position A92 are rare, while changes at ParC position D86 are more common, but neither type resulted in resistance to gepotidacin.
  • The authors emphasize the importance of monitoring potential antimicrobial resistance and using effective MIC testing methods to ensure gepotidacin remains effective against gonorrhea.

miR-25-5p in exosomes derived from UVB-induced fibroblasts regulates melanogenesis via TSC2-dominated cellular organelle dysfunction.

J Dermatol Sci

August 2024

Jiangsu Key Laboratory of Molecular Biology for Skin Diseases and STIs, Hospital of Dermatology, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Peking Union Medical College, Nanjing, China. Electronic address:

Background: Few reports have confirmed whether exosomes derived from fibroblasts can regulate the process of melanogenesis. We wondered whether exosomes derived from fibroblasts could have a potent regulatory effect on melanogenesis and explored the underlying mechanisms.

Objective: This study aimed to find the role of fibroblasts in melanocytes and revealed the related mechanisms.

Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory skin disease that affects people all over the world. It is linked to the HLA-Cw6 allele, which is more common in Caucasians than in Asians and varies across ethnic groups. We investigated the association between the disease severity and the onset age of HLA-Cw6 prevalence in Vietnamese psoriasis patients.

Background: Assessment of the clinical learning environment (CLE) is an essential step that teaching hospitals routinely undertake to ensure the environment is conducive, learning-oriented and supportive of junior doctors' education. The Postgraduate Hospital Educational Environment Measure (PHEEM) is an internationally recognized tool for assessing the CLE with evidence of high reliability and validity. Translation of PHEEM into other languages such as Spanish, Japanese and Persian enabled wider adoption of the instrument in the world.
