January 2025

Anhui Province Key Laboratory of Major Autoimmune Diseases, Anhui Institute of Innovative Drugs, School of Pharmacy, Anhui Medical University, Hefei 230032, China.

The absence of an effective imaging tool for diagnosing renal ischemia-reperfusion injury (RIRI) severely delays its treatment, and currently, no definitive clinical interventions are available. Pyroglutamate aminopeptidase-1 (PGP-1), a potential inflammatory cytokine, has shown considerable potential as a biomarker for tracing the inflammatory process in vivo. However, its exact role in the enhanced visualization of RIRI in complex biological systems has yet to be fully established.

Explore Alteration of Lung and Gut Microbiota in a Murine Model of OVA-Induced Asthma Treated by CpG Oligodeoxynucleotides.

J Inflamm Res

January 2025

Department of Geriatric Respiratory and Critical Care, The First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University, Anhui Geriatric Institute, Hefei, Anhui, People's Republic of China.

Aim: We sought to investigate the impact of CpG oligodeoxynucleotides (CpG-ODN) administration on the lung and gut microbiota in asthmatic mice, specifically focusing on changes in composition, diversity, and abundance, and to elucidate the microbial mechanisms underlying the therapeutic effects of CpG-ODN and identify potential beneficial bacteria indicative of its efficacy.

Methods: HE staining were used to analyze inflammation in lung, colon and small intestine tissues. High-throughput sequencing technology targeting 16S rRNA was employed to analyze the composition, diversity, and correlation of microbiome in the lung, colon and small intestine of control, model and CpG-ODN administration groups.

Background: The causal associations and potential mechanisms between prostatic diseases, the predominant male urological disorders, and the course of COVID-19 remain unclear.

Methods: A two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis was performed to evaluate causal associations between prostate cancer, benign prostatic hyperplasia, and prostatitis and different COVID-19 outcomes (SARS-CoV-2 infection, hospitalized COVID-19, and severe COVID-19). Reverse MR, linkage disequilibrium score regression, and Bayesian colocalization analyses were subsequently performed to strengthen the identified causal relationships.

Gastric cancer (GC) ranks among the top five most diagnosed cancers globally, with particularly high incidence and mortality rates observed in Asian regions. Despite certain advancements achieved through early screening and treatment strategies in many countries, GC continues to pose a significant public health challenge. Approximately 20% of patients infected with develop precancerous lesions, among which metaplasia is the most critical.

Osteoarthritis (OA), affecting > 500 million people worldwide, profoundly affects the quality of life and ability to work. The mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) signaling pathway plays an essential role in OA. To address the lack of studies focused on synovial cells in OA, we evaluated the expression patterns and roles of the MAPK signaling pathway components in OA synovial tissues using bioinformatics.

Objective: To investigate the role of endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS) in the diagnosis and treatment of upper gastrointestinal bleeding of unknown origin in liver cirrhosis, focusing on patients with recurrent treatment of esophageal and gastric varices who failed to identify the bleeding site under direct endoscopy.

Background: Esophagogastric variceal bleeding is one of the severe complications of decompensated liver cirrhosis, and serial endoscopic therapy can improve the long-term quality of life of patients. Most acute bleeding can be detected under direct endoscopy with thrombus or active bleeding, but there are still some patients with recurrent bleeding after repeated treatments, and it is difficult to find the bleeding site, especially in gastric variceal bleeding.

Short-stem total hip arthroplasty (SHA) has become popular because it preserves femoral bone stock and enables the use of short femoral stems in revision total hip arthroplasty (THA). However, no study has evaluated whether a short stem in revision THA, replacing a standard stem, can provide adequate primary stability to facilitate osseous integration. In this biomechanical study, a metaphyseal anchoring SHA (Tri-Lock BPS) stem and a standard THA (Corail) stem were implanted into ten composite femurs and loaded dynamically from 300 to 1700 N with 1 Hz.
