Background: Viral respiratory infections may precipitate type 1 diabetes (T1D). A possible association between the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), the virus responsible for COVID-19, and the incidence of T1D is being determined. This study was carried out using Portuguese registries, aiming at examining temporal trends between COVID-19 and T1D.

A 23-year-old woman with fever, oral ulcers, arthalgias and weight loss of 2-week duration suddenly developed blurred vision, with reduced visual acuity, cotton wool exudates and retinal vascular tortuosity. Laboratory testing revealed anaemia, lymphopaenia, positive antinuclear antibody and high anti-dsDNA antibody titre with low complement components. There was no evidence of infection, clinching the diagnosis of lupus retinopathy.

The diagnosis is generally based on typical image of computed tomography (CT) scan and a surgical exploration is generally recommended.

Diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) is widely used in protocols for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the female pelvis. It provides functional and structural information about biological tissues, without the use of ionizing radiation or intravenous administration of contrast medium. High signal intensity on DWI with simultaneous low signal intensity on apparent diffusion coefficient maps is usually associated with malignancy.

Background: The systemic treatment of malignant endometrial stromal tumors (EST) is not well established. A few reports describe objective responses to imatinib, which suggest a novel therapeutic strategy for these tumors. Due to these facts, we aimed to perform a retrospective analysis of possible molecular targets of tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKI) in EST: KIT, PDGFRA and EGFR.
