Nonanatomic Posteromedial Bundle Augmentation of the Posterior Cruciate Ligament after Hyperextension Trauma.

The surgical management of posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) injuries can be challenging. As most PCL injuries occur in a flexed knee position, the anterolateral bundle is thought to be more commonly injured than the posteromedial bundle (PMB); however, in hyperextension, the PMB plays a more significant role. The smaller size of the PMB compared with the anterolateral bundle and its lower strength may explain why isolated hyperextension PMB injuries can be easily overlooked.

Antibiotic-loaded bone cement is associated with a reduction of the risk of revision of total knee arthroplasty: Analysis of the Catalan Arthroplasty Register.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyse the impact on peri-prosthetic joint infection (PJI) rate and prosthetic survival using antibiotic-loaded bone cement (ALBC) versus plain cement during total knee arthroplasty (TKA).

Methods: A retrospective cohort study was conducted. The main data source was the Catalan Arthroplasty Register (RACat).

Purpose: This original case series aims to describe an uncommon triad of clinical signs in patients presenting with persistent pain and inability to resume physical activities after knee hyperextension trauma.

Background: Optical coherence tomography (OCT) allows the measurement of the peripapillary optic nerve fiber layer (RNFL) thickness. The effect of ocular axial length (AL) on RNFL thickness measurement may be relevant in the interpretation of OCT results in diagnosing optic nerve diseases.

Purpose: To assess the influence of ocular AL on RNFL thickness and on optic disc topographic parameters (optic disc area, rim area and cup volume) measured by OCT, in healthy individuals.

Translation and cultural adaptation into Spanish of the Low Vision Quality of Life Questionnaire.

Objective: The purpose of the present study was to provide a translation into Spanish, as well as a cross-cultural adaptation, of the English version of the Low Vision Quality of Life Questionnaire (LVQOL). There are currently some questionnaires designed to assess vision related quality of life in Spanish, although none of them specifically examines the quality of life of patients with visual disability.

Method: The LVQOL consists of 25 items and examines 4 different dimensions: distance vision; mobility and ilumination; adaptation, reading and precision work, and daily life activities.

[Early pharmacologic treatment with botulinum toxin A in post-stroke spasticity: consensus evidence-based recommendations].

Accelerated hypofractionated radiation therapy (AHRT) for non-small-cell lung cancer: can we leave standard fractionation?

Purpose: To report interim results from a single-institution study conducted to assess accelerated hypofractionated radiotherapy (AHRT) delivered with 3D conformal radiotherapy in two groups of patients with non-small cell lung cancer: (1) patients with early stage disease unable to tolerate surgery and ineligible for stereotactic body radiation therapy, and (2) patients with locally advanced disease unsuitable for concurrent chemoradiotherapy.

Methods/patients: A total of 83 patients (51 stage I-II, 32 stage III) were included. Radiotherapy targets included the primary tumor and positive mediastinal areas identified on the pre-treatment PET-CT.

In recent years, major advances in our understanding of the molecular biology of lung cancer, together with significant improvements in radiotherapy technologies, have revolutionized the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Factors Associated With Early Mortality in Patients Treated With Concurrent Chemoradiation Therapy for Locally Advanced Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer.

Background: Novel predictors of prognosis and treatment response for prostate cancer (PCa) are required to better individualize treatment.
