Background: Sexual dysfunction (SD) is one of the least studied non-motor symptoms in Parkinson's disease (PD).

Objectives: To assess sexual function in a cohort of patients with early-onset PD (EOPD) and compare it to a group of healthy controls.

Methods: In this cross-sectional multicenter study, SD was assessed with gender-specific multi-dimensional self-reported questionnaires: The Brief Male Sexual Function Inventory (BSFI-M) and the Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI).

Chemosensory dysfunction in COVID-19 out-patients.

Background: Since the outbreak in China due to coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) various studies have been published describing olfactory and gustatory dysfunction (OGD).

Objective: The aim was to investigate the frequency and severity of OGD in SARS-CoV-2 (+) out-patients compared to controls with common cold/flu like symptoms and two negative RT-PCR.

Methods: A multicenter cross-sectional study on SARS-CoV-2-positive out-patients (n = 197) and controls (n = 107) from five Spanish Hospitals.

Hospital Pharmacist experience in the Intensive Care Unit: Plan COVID.

The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the University Hospital of Fuenlabrada was  forced to critically increase its capacity in the COVID-19 pandemic. The objective of this work is to describe the activities promoted by the pharmacist in the care  of the critically ill patient in this context. A new organizational structure was  designed, analyzing the tasks necessary to make the processes profitable.

Galectin-3 Is Associated with Cardiovascular Events in Post-Acute Coronary Syndrome Patients with Type-2 Diabetes.

Introduction: Type-2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is associated with early and severe atherosclerosis. However, few biomarkers can predict cardiovascular events in this population.

Methods: We followed 964 patients with coronary artery disease (CAD), assessing plasma levels of galectin-3, monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1), and N-terminal fragment of brain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) at baseline.

Prognostic Nomogram and Patterns of Use of FOLFIRI-Aflibercept in Advanced Colorectal Cancer: A Real-World Data Analysis.

Introduction: The VELOUR study evaluated the efficacy and safety of adding aflibercept to FOLFIRI (fluorouracil, leucovorin, irinotecan) in second-line therapy for metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC). However, a nomogram that can stratify patients according to prognosis is unavailable, and the frequency and effect of the pragmatic use of modified schedules in actual practice remains unknown.

Method: The sample consists of 250 patients with mCRC treated with aflibercept and irinotecan-based chemotherapy at nine Spanish academic centers between January 2013 and September 2015.

A Pilot, Phase II, Randomized, Open-Label Clinical Trial Comparing the Neurotoxicity of Three Dose Regimens of Nab-Paclitaxel to That of Solvent-Based Paclitaxel as the First-Line Treatment for Patients with Human Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor Type 2-Negative Metastatic Breast Cancer.

Background: This study aimed to characterize the neurotoxicity of three different regimens of nab-paclitaxel compared with a standard regimen of solvent-based (sb) paclitaxel for the first-line treatment of HER2-negative metastatic breast cancer based on the Total Neurotoxicity Score (TNS), a tool specifically developed to assess chemotherapy-induced neurotoxicity.

Materials And Methods: This was a randomized, open-label study testing 4-week cycles of 80 mg/m sb-paclitaxel (PACL80/w) on days 1, 8, and 15; 100 mg/m nab-paclitaxel on days 1, 8, and 15 (NAB100/w); 150 mg/m nab-paclitaxel on days 1, 8, and 15 (NAB150/w); and 150 mg/m nab-paclitaxel on days 1 and 15 (NAB150/2w). In addition to the TNS, neuropathy was assessed using the National Cancer Institute Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events (NCI-CTCAE).

Design: Retrospective and descriptive analysis of a national clinical-administrative database that includes all patients hospitalised in Spain in internal medicine departments from January 2007 to December 2014.

Effectiveness and safety of elbasvir/grazoprevir therapy in patients with chronic HCV infection: Results from the Spanish HEPA-C real-world cohort.

In randomized controlled trials of patients with chronic HCV infection, elbasvir/grazoprevir (EBR/GZR) demonstrated high cure rates and a good safety profile. This study assessed the effectiveness and safety of EBR/GZR, with and without ribavirin, in a real-world HCV patient cohort. HEPA-C is a collaborative, monitored national registry of HCV patients directed by the Spanish Association for the Study of the Liver and the Networked Biomedical Research Centre for Hepatic and Digestive Diseases.

Milder forms of α-sarcoglicanopathies diagnosed in adulthood by NGS analysis.

Introduction: Sarcoglycanopathies (LGMD 2C2F) are a subgroup of limb-girdle muscular dystrophies (LGMD), caused by mutations in sarcoglycan genes. They usually have a childhood onset and rapidly progressive course with loss of ability to walk over 12-16 years.

Methods: Next generation sequencing (NGS) targeted gene panel was performed in three adult patients with progressive muscle weakness in which routine muscle histology and immunohistochemistry were not diagnostic.

Cervical Pessary Compared With Vaginal Progesterone for Preventing Early Preterm Birth: A Randomized Controlled Trial.

Objective: To compare the effectiveness of a cervical pessary and vaginal progesterone to prevent spontaneous preterm births in pregnant women with cervical lengths 25 mm or less as measured by transvaginal ultrasonography.

Methods: This was a multicenter, open-label, randomized, noninferiority trial. Women with singleton pregnancies and a short cervix (25 mm or less) measured transvaginally at the second-trimester ultrasonogram were invited to participate.

Fasting glucose in the first trimester: An initial approach to diagnosis of gestational diabetes.

Objectives: To establish whether fasting glucose levels in the first trimester (FGFT)of pregnancy ≥ 92 mg/dL (5.1 mmol/L) (FGFT) anticipate the occurrence of maternal-fetal complications of gestational diabetes mellitus. To assess whether FGFT can replace diagnosis of GDM using the classical two-step oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT).

Severe, life-threatening phenotype of primary Sjögren's syndrome: clinical characterisation and outcomes in 1580 patients (GEAS-SS Registry).

Objectives: To analyse the clinical features and outcomes of patients presenting with life-threatening systemic disease in a large cohort of Spanish patients with primary Sjögren's syndrome (SS).

Methods: The GEAS-SS multicentre registry was formed in 2005 with the aim of collecting a large series of Spanish patients with primary SS, and included more than 20 Spanish reference centres with substantial experience in the management of SS patients. By January 2018, the database included 1580 consecutive patients fulfilling the 2002 classification criteria for primary SS.

Evaluation of Structure Indicators for Assessing Skin Cancer Quality of Care in Dermatology Departments.

Introduction And Objectives: A series of quality indicators for melanoma and nonmelanoma skin cancer were recently approved within a project promoted by the Healthy Skin Foundation of the Spanish AEDV. The aim of this study was to evaluate adherence to these indicators.

Material And Methods: In November 2016, an anonymous questionnaire consisting of 32 items was sent to the heads of Spanish dermatology and venereology departments listed in the AEDV's database.

Derivation and validation of a predictive model for the readmission of patients with diabetes mellitus treated in internal medicine departments.

Objectives: We developed a predictive model for the hospital readmission of patients with diabetes. The objective was to identify the frail population that requires additional strategies to prevent readmissions at 90 days.

Methods: Using data collected from 1977 patients in 3 studies on the national prevalence of diabetes (2015-2017), we developed and validated a predictive model of readmission at 90 days for patients with diabetes.

This fact involves a higher risk for developing numerous medical conditions associated with the aging of adults with DS. A high level of awareness is required by the professional, due to the lack of clinical expressiveness and their higher pain threshold, often makes the diagnosis difficult.

Serial semi-quantitative measurement of fecal calprotectin in patients with ulcerative colitis in remission.

Background: Fecal calprotectin (FC) correlates with clinical and endoscopic activity in ulcerative colitis (UC), and it is a good predictor of relapse. However, its use in clinical practice is constrained by the need for the patient to deliver stool samples, and for their handling and processing in the laboratory. The availability of hand held devices might spread the use of FC in clinical practice.

Prevalence of peripheral artery disease (PAD) and factors associated: An epidemiological analysis from the population-based Screening PRE-diabetes and type 2 DIAbetes (SPREDIA-2) study.

Aim: To describe the prevalence of Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) in a random population sample and to evaluate its relationship with Mediterranean diet and with other potential cardiovascular risk factors such as serum uric acid and pulse pressure in individuals ranged 45 to 74 years.

Prevention of Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia: The Multimodal Approach of the Spanish ICU "Pneumonia Zero" Program.

Objectives: The "Pneumonia Zero" project is a nationwide multimodal intervention based on the simultaneous implementation of a comprehensive evidence-based bundle measures to prevent ventilator-associated pneumonia in critically ill patients admitted to the ICU.

Design: Prospective, interventional, and multicenter study.

Setting: A total of 181 ICUs throughout Spain.
