Background/objectives: Colon cancer presents as an obstruction in almost 30% of patients. Self-expandable metallic stents emerged as an alternative to emergency surgery, despite early controversies around their use. Improved techniques led to stent incorporation in clinical guidelines.

Introduction: There are very few studies evaluating lipid-lowering treatments (LLTs) and low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol (LDL-C) goal attainment after the release of the 2019 guidelines of the European Societies of Cardiology (ESC) and Atherosclerosis (EAS). This manuscript shows baseline data of the Spanish subset from SANTORINI study (namely SANTORINI Spain) on LDL-C goal attainment and use of LLTs in patients at high and very high cardiovascular risk.
Methods: SANTORINI was a multinational, prospective, observational study involving patients at high and very high cardiovascular risk from 14 European countries in primary care and specialized healthcare settings.

Patritumab deruxtecan (HER3-DXd) exhibits promising efficacy in breast cancer, with its activity not directly correlated to baseline ERBB3/HER3 levels. This research investigates the genetic factors affecting HER3-DXd's response in women with early-stage hormone receptor-positive and HER2-negative (HR+/HER2-) breast cancer. In the SOLTI-1805 TOT-HER3 trial, a single HER3-DXd dose was administered to 98 patients across two parts: 78 patients received 6.

Background: Decreasing the amount of iodinated contrast is an important safety aspect of percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI), particularly in patients with a high risk of contrast-induced acute kidney injury (CI-AKI). Dynamic Coronary Roadmap (DCR) is a PCI navigation support tool projecting a motion-compensated virtual coronary roadmap overlay on fluoroscopy, potentially limiting the need for contrast during PCI.
Aims: This study investigates the contrast-sparing potential of DCR in PCI, compared to standard angiographic guidance.

In the present work, we present an overview of the contents of the communications presented at the Second National Congress of Paediatrics, held in San Sebastian in 1923, on the occasion of the 100th year anniversary. The problem of infant mortality stands out as a common thread, which in those years was very high in Spain and was a concern of politicians, intellectuals and the medical profession. It is worth noting that some of the proposals and concerns of the paediatricians who attended that congress continue to be relevant today.

Background And Purpose: Anti-calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) therapies are recent preventive therapies approved for both episodic and chronic migraine. One of the measures of effectiveness is the withdrawal of other preventive treatments. The objective of this study is to quantify the impact of anti-CGRP drugs in concomitant preventive treatment in patients with migraine.

Background And Objective: Recommendations on general glaucoma management and the use of early minimally invasive and microincisional surgeries are limited. This study aimed to establish consensus regarding glaucoma management, focusing on the XEN-45 gel stent implant.
Methods: A Delphi consensus-driven process was used.

Background: Biological therapy dose modification is a common practice in the long-term treatment of plaque psoriasis.
Objective: The objective of the study was to determine prevalence, characteristics of patients, effectiveness, treatment survival of secukinumab dose reduction (SEC-DR) strategy and assess its safety and cost implications.
Methods: A retrospective, observational, multicenter cohort study was conducted in patients with plaque psoriasis treated with secukinumab and up to 2 years of follow-up.

Background: Chemotherapy-induced adverse effects are an unresolved nightmare. In preclinical studies in rats, the food additive monosodium glutamate (MSG) improved some of the side effects caused by cisplatin, but its effects in other models of chemotherapy-treated animals are not well known. The aim of this study was to test if MSG may improve some of the adverse effects induced by vincristine in rats.

Background And Objective: The treatment of psoriasis should not only focus on skin affectations but also weigh the parameters for health-related quality of life (HRQoL), thereby tackling the concept of cumulative life course impairment (CLCI) and treating the patient from a holistic perspective. The CRYSTAL study aimed to characterize psoriasis with real-word data from Spanish clinical practice in patients with moderate to severe disease who received continuous systemic treatment for at least 24 weeks by using the absolute Psoriasis Area and Severity Index (PASI) score and its correlation to HRQoL.
Material And Methods: This was a non-interventional, cross-sectional study conducted in 30 centers in Spain, with 301 patients between the ages of 18 and 75 years.

Background: Patritumab deruxtecan (HER3-DXd) is a human epidermal growth factor receptor 3 (HER3)-directed antibody-drug conjugate composed of a fully human anti-HER3 monoclonal antibody (patritumab) covalently linked to a topoisomerase I inhibitor payload via a stable, tumor-selective, tetrapeptide-based cleavable linker. TOT-HER3 is a window-of-opportunity study designed to assess the biological activity, measured by CelTIL score [= -0.8 × tumor cellularity (in %) + 1.

Background: The clinical and anatomic complexity of patients undergoing percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI) has increased significantly over the past 2 decades. Contrast induced nephropathy (CIN) significantly impacts prognosis after PCI, therefore minimizing the risk of CIN is important in improving clinical outcomes. Dynamic Coronary Roadmap (DCR) is a PCI navigation support tool which may decrease CIN by projecting a motion-compensated virtual coronary roadmap overlay on fluoroscopy, potentially reducing iodinated contrast volume during PCI.

The long-term clinical efficacy of SARS-CoV-2 vaccines according to antibody response in immunosuppressed patients such as hematological patients has been little explored. A prospective multicenter registry-based cohort study conducted from December 2020 to July 2022 by the Spanish Transplant and Cell Therapy group, was used to analyze the relationship of antibody response over time after full vaccination (at 3-6 weeks, 3, 6 and 12 months) (2 doses) and of booster doses with breakthrough SARS-CoV-2 infection in 1551 patients with hematological disorders. At a median follow-up of 388 days after complete immunization, 266 out of 1551 (17%) developed breakthrough SARS-CoV-2 infection at median of 86 days (range 7-391) after full vaccination.

The risk of suffering from gonadal germ cell tumors (GCT) is increased in some patients with different sexual development (DSD), mainly in those with Y chromosome material. This risk, however, varies considerably depending on a multitude of factors that make the decision for prophylactic gonadectomy extremely difficult. In order to make informed recommendations on the convenience of this procedure in cases where there is potential for malignancy, this consensus guide evaluates the latest clinical evidence, which is generally low, and updates the existing knowledge in this field.
