Background: Multisystem inflammatory syndrome (MIS-C) represents a diagnostic challenge because of its overlap with Kawasaki disease, Kawasaki disease shock syndrome, and toxic shock syndrome. Macrophage activation syndrome (MAS) is a frequently fatal complication of various pediatric inflammatory disorders and has been reported in MIS-C. Early diagnosis and prompt initiation by immune modulating therapies are essential for effectively managing MAS.

Objectives: To determine the risk factors associated with delirium in patients admitted to a COVID-19 Hospitalization of a general hospital during the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Methods: An observational, analytical, case-control study was conducted. We analyzed 50 medical records of patients who presented delirium and 50 who did not present delirium in a COVID Hospitalization area during the period from March 2020 to March 2021.

Background: Resistance to isoniazid is the most common form of drug-resistance in tuberculosis. However only a tiny proportion of TB patients in the world have access to isoniazid drug susceptibility testing-the widely implemented Xpert MTB/RIF technology only tests for resistance to rifampicin. Patients with isoniazid mono resistance that is not identified at baseline are treated with a standard regimen that effectively results in rifampicin mono-therapy during the latter four months of the six month treatment course, exposing remaining viable organisms to a single agent and greatly increasing the risk of development of multi drug-resistant TB.

Design: Results for the age groups <5 and 5-14 years were compared and treatment outcomes were assessed in cases reported between 2011 and 2015 from six districts of Lima.

Results: Of 96 reported cases, 82 were evaluated.

To report the first case of Whipple surgery performed at the Regional Hospital of Tumbes for the treatment of ampullary adenocarcinoma with successful results. A case report of a patient with diagnosis of ampullary adenocarcinoma, in whom was performed the first Whipple surgery at the Regional Hospital of Tumbes, in October, 2014. The patient diagnosed with an obstructive jaundice syndrome due to ampullary adenocarcinoma underwent Whipple surgery.
