Objectives: Anti-SSA autoantibodies can be differentiated according to their antigenic target proteins as anti-Ro60 (60 kDa) or anti-Ro52 (52 kDa). Anti-SSA(Ro60) antibodies are clearly associated with connective tissue diseases (CTD), but the clinical significance of anti-SSA(Ro52) antibodies remains unclear. The aim of the present study was to analyse the disease phenotype of patients with anti-Ro52 and/or anti-Ro60 antibodies.

Nintedanib, an intracellular inhibitor targeting multiple tyrosine kinases, has emerged as a standard treatment for various fibrotic lung diseases. Despite its efficacy, side effects such as nausea, diarrhea, and hepatotoxicity often lead to dose reduction or discontinuation. In this retrospective analysis at an university hospital's interstitial lung disease clinic, we aimed to identify baseline characteristics associated with dose adjustment or treatment discontinuation.

Neurotoxicity is an acknowledged side effect of third and fourth-generation cephalosporins, but its occurrence with ceftriaxone is not widely recognized. This article presents a case involving a 56-year-old woman with multiple comorbidities who sought medical attention after experiencing lipothymia. The initial diagnosis suggested a urinary tract infection with acute kidney failure, leading to the initiation of ceftriaxone and hemodialysis.

Introduction And Objectives: Myocardial infarction with non-obstructive coronary arteries (MINOCA) is responsible for about 10% of all acute myocardial infarctions (AMI). Therapeutic strategies and prognosis depend on the underlying etiology, and a multimodal approach is essential. The objectives of this study were to characterize the group of patients diagnosed with MINOCA and to valuate the diagnostic yield of cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR).

Psychosis in Alzheimer's Disease (AD) is prevalent and indicates poor prognosis. However, the neuropathological, cognitive and brain atrophy patterns underlying these symptoms have not been fully elucidated. In this study, we evaluated 178 patients with AD neuropathological change (ADNC) and ante-mortem volumetric brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

Objective: To assess the diagnostic performance of transvaginal sonography (TVS) for the preoperative evaluation of lymph-node metastasis in gynecological cancer.
Methods: This was a systematic review and meta-analysis of studies published between January 1990 and May 2023 evaluating the role of ultrasound in detecting pelvic lymph-node metastasis (index test) in gynecological cancer, using histopathological analysis as the reference standard. The quality of included studies was assessed using the Quality Assessment of Diagnostic Accuracy Studies-2 tool.

Acute compartment syndrome of the thigh is an exceptionally uncommon condition that can have severe consequences if not promptly and effectively treated. A 19-year-old man presented to our emergency department with severe and progressive pain in his left thigh after sustaining a direct trauma during a football game 24 hours prior. Compartment pressure was assessed, confirming the diagnosis of compartment syndrome arising from a sizable intramuscular hematoma without detection of any other contributing factors.

Sheehan syndrome is a rare cause of hypopituitarism characterized by pituitary gland necrosis after postpartum hemorrhage. It is a pertinent cause of maternal morbidity and mortality in developing countries with deficient obstetrical care but is frequently overlooked in developed countries where its occurrence is uncommon. We present the case of a 66-year-old female diagnosed with Sheehan syndrome more than 30 years after her last delivery complicated by postpartum hemorrhage.

In recent years the role of diagnostic imaging by pelvic ultrasound in the diagnosis and staging of gynecological cancers has been growing exponentially. Evidence from recent prospective multicenter studies has demonstrated high accuracy for pre-operative locoregional ultrasound staging in gynecological cancers. Therefore, in many leading gynecologic oncology units, ultrasound is implemented next to pelvic MRI as the first-line imaging modality for gynecological cancer.

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer mortality in the world. It greatly affects the patients' quality of life, and is thus a challenge for the daily practice in respiratory medicine. Advances in the genetic knowledge of thoracic tumours' mutational landscape, and the development of targeted therapies and immune checkpoint inhibitors, have led to a paradigm shift in the treatment of lung cancer and pleural mesothelioma.

Membranous glomerulonephritis is the leading cause of nephrotic syndrome in non-diabetic Caucasian adults. For patients at risk of progressing to end-stage renal disease, immunosuppression, particularly rituximab, is the recommended treatment. While extremely rare, cases of cystoid macular edema associated with rituximab have been documented in the literature.

Sphenoid meningoencephaloceles are rare, and their treatment is challenging. In this report, we describe two clinical cases of sphenoid meningoencephalocele, in which one patient presented with a cerebrospinal fluid leak after repeated head trauma, while in the other, sphenoid meningoencephalocele was detected during the study of memory impairment as the patient was otherwise asymptomatic. The CT scans showed bony dehiscence on the lateral wall of the sphenoid sinus filled with soft tissue that was confirmed by MRI as being herniated brain tissue.

Non-metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (nmCRPC) represents a challenging disease state in prostate cancer care. nmCRPC patients with a high risk of progression to metastatic disease who are identified by a prostate-specific antigen doubling time (PSADT) ≤10 months are eligible for treatment with the novel androgen receptor inhibitors (ARIs), shown to delay disease progression and extend survival. However, nmCRPC is often unexploited in clinical practice due to a lack of standardization in the methodology and in the tools used for its identification.
