Background: The effect of endovascular therapy (EVT) on the outcome of stroke patients with a medium distal vessel occlusion (MDVO) is unclear. We report the results of MDVO patients treated with the 3 mm Trevo stent retriever (SR) and/or the AXS Catalyst 5 distal access catheter.
Methods: Data was derived from a prospective, multicenter global registry (ASSIST registry) which enrolled patients treated with operator preferred EVT technique at 71 sites from January 2019 to January 2022.

Infective endocarditis (IE) is a life-threating entity with three main complications: heart failure (HF), uncontrolled infection (UI) and embolic events (EEs). HF and UI are the main indications of cardiac surgery and have been studied thoroughly. On the other hand, much more uncertainty surrounds EEs, which have an abrupt and somewhat unpredictable behaviour.

Haploidentical stem cell transplantation (Haplo-SCT) and cord blood transplantation (CBT) are both effective alternative treatments in patients suffering from acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and lacking a matched HLA donor. In the last years, many centers have abandoned CBT procedures mostly due to concern about poorer immune recovery compared with Haplo-SCT. We conducted a retrospective multicenter study comparing the outcomes using both alternative approaches in AML.

Introduction: We aimed to describe the risk profile of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infections among adults ≥ 60 years in Valladolid from January 2010 to August 2022, and to compare them with influenza and COVID-19 controls.
Methods: This was a retrospective cohort study of all laboratory-confirmed RSV infections identified in centralized microbiology database during a 12-year period. We analyzed risk factors for RSV hospitalization and severity (length of stay, intensive care unit admission, in-hospital death or readmission < 30 days) and compared severity between RSV patients vs.
Purpose: To identify risk factors predisposing patients to poor outcomes after fixation of periprosthetic hip fractures around femoral stems.
Methods: Prospective multicentre cohort study of fractures around a hip replacement stem managed by internal fixation. The primary outcome was one-year mortality, while secondary outcomes were local complications and healthcare burden-related outcomes (nursing facility utilization and hospital length of stay).

Background: Severe pure aortic regurgitation (AR) carries a high mortality and morbidity risk, and it is often undertreated because of the inherent surgical risk. Transcatheter heart valves (THVs) have been used off-label in this setting with overall suboptimal results. The dedicated "purpose-built" Jena Valve Trilogy (JVT, JenaValve Technology) showed an encouraging performance, although it has never been compared to other THVs.
