Aim: The aim of the present study was to find out physicians' perceptions about the transfer of dying nursing home residents to emergency departments.
Method: This qualitative study used semi-structured interviews, and data were analyzed using qualitative methods. Participants were medical directors of nursing homes who were informed by e-mail and included when they agreed to take part in our study.

This paper summarizes and reviews the mechanisms of action and data concerning efficacy of recommended treatments as well as other treatments that have been tested, independently of the outcomes, in the management of chronic spontaneous urticaria. Due to the central role of mast cells, basophils and histamine in the pathophysiology of this disease, H-antihistamines remain the first-line treatment. However, current knowledge about this complex disease, also recognizes an important role for T lymphocytes, B lymphocytes, and autoantibodies.

Pompe disease is an inherited lysosomal disease in which there is a decrease or absence of acid alpha-glucosidase activity. This enzyme defect induces glycogen storage in different tissues, especially muscle and heart, resulting in muscle weakness, respiratory failure and heart disease. Substitutive enzyme replacement therapy (ERT) dispensed every two weeks is the only treatment that has shown benefits.

Objective: To assess the effect of pelvic drainage after rectal surgery for cancer.
Background: Pelvic sepsis is one of the major complications after rectal excision for rectal cancer. Although many studies have confirmed infectiveness of drainage after colectomy, there is still a controversy after rectal surgery.

Induction TPF regimen is a standard treatment option for squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the oropharynx. The efficacy and safety of adding cetuximab to induction TPF (ETPF) therapy was evaluated. Patients with nonmetastatic resectable stage III/IV SCC of the oropharynx were treated with weekly cetuximab followed the same day by docetaxel and cisplatin and by a continuous infusion of 5-fluorouracil on days 1-5 (every 3 weeks, 3 cycles).
