Background: Both dietary and sleep patterns can influence both blood pressure levels and heart rate, but these associations have been understudied in adolescents. Furthermore, it is not known whether diet and sleep could exert a synergistic effect with respect to the maintenance of optimal BP levels in this population.
Objective: To investigate the relationship of blood pressure levels with the combination of higher adherence to the Mediterranean diet and the habit of siesta (daytime napping) in Spanish adolescents.

Objective: To evaluate degree of metabolic control and treatment regimens in patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) enrolled in the DIACAM1 study, after 10 years of follow-up under routine clinical practice conditions.
Patients And Methods: A total of 1,465 patients enrolled in the DIACAM1 study, a multicentre, cross-sectional study conducted in Castilla-La Mancha in 2010, were analysed. Of these patients, 58 (4%) died during the 10-year follow-up period.

Direct intestinal administration of levodopa-carbidopa gel has shown good results in selected patients with Parkinson's disease (1, 2). We want to present a complication related to the device necessary for the administration of this drug. A 58-year-old man, diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, treated for six months with levodopa-carbidopa intestinal gel, administered through a percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) tube with jejunal extension, presented at the emergency department for abdominal pain.

This study sought to investigate the influence of neurocognition on the emotional processing profiles of patients with first-episode schizophrenia, using the 4-branch Mayer-Salovey-Caruso Emotional Intelligence Test (MSCEIT) (Perceiving Emotions; Facilitating Emotions; Understanding Emotions and Managing Emotions). A sample of 78 patients with first-episode schizophrenia and a group of 90 non-psychiatric control subjects were included in this work. The initial results showed that patients had lower scores than controls for the "Understanding Emotions" and "Managing Emotions" MSCEIT branches.

Among the side effects of anticancer treatment, chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV) is one of the most feared given its high prevalence, affecting up to 40% of patients. It can impair patient's quality of life and provoke low adherence to cancer treatment or chemotherapy dose reductions that can comprise treatment efficacy. Suffering CINV depends on factors related to the intrinsic emetogenicity of antineoplastic drugs and on patient characteristics.
