Effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on gestational diabetes in Castilla-La Mancha (Spain).

Subject-matter: To assess the effect of the 2019 coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic on gestational diabetes (GDM).

Material And Methods: In this retrospective, multicentre, non-interventional study carried out in Castilla-La Mancha, Spain, we compared 663 women with GDM exposed to the pandemic (pandemic group), with 622 women with GDM seen one year earlier (pre-pandemic group). The primary endpoint was a Large for Gestational Age (LGA) newborn as an indicator of poor GDM control.

ERCP for common bile duct stones in the elderly: refining the procedure to improve outcomes.

Removal of common bile duct stones in patients with a previous cholecystectomy was one of the first indications for ERCP with biliary sphincterotomy. Thanks to a minimally invasive procedure, patients were prevented from having a new operation. Subsequently, as the technique proved to be successful, ERCP was extended to all patients with choledocholithiasis, regardless of whether or not they had gallbladder.

Arrhythmia detection using an implantable loop recorder after a negative electrophysiology study in Brugada syndrome: Observations from a multicenter international registry.

Background: Risk stratification in Brugada syndrome (BrS) remains controversial. In this respect, the role of the electrophysiology study (EPS) has been a subject of debate. In some centers, it is common practice to use an implantable loop recorder (ILR) after a negative EPS to help in risk stratification.

Effects of physical exercise interventions on balance, postural stability and general mobility in Parkinson's disease: a network meta-analysis.

Objective: To assess which type of physical exercise intervention has the most beneficial effects on balance, postural stability and general mobility in patients with Parkinson's disease. These parameters were assessed using the Activities-specific Balance Confidence (ABC) scale, Berg Balance Scale (BBS), Mini-Balance Evaluation Systems Test (MiniBESTest) and Timed Up and Go Test (TUG).

Purpose: This study aims to assess the effectiveness and safety of combining the Preserflo™ MicroShunt implant (MicroShunt) with a simultaneous Ologen™ implant in patients with glaucoma.

Methods: We conducted a retrospective study on consecutive patients with medically uncontrolled glaucoma who underwent MicroShunt + Ologen implantation as a standalone procedure or in combination with phacoemulsification (combined procedure). Success was defined as achieving an intraocular pressure (IOP) of 6-15 mmHg at 18 months post surgery, with a preoperative IOP reduction of at least 20%, and without (complete success) or with (qualified success) the need for antiglaucoma medications.

Introduction: Despite better treatments and care for patients with type 1 diabetes (T1DM), all-cause and cardiovascular mortality still remains higher compared to the general population. We evaluated mortality and risk factors for mortality in a representative cohort of patients with T1DM.

Methods: DIACAM1 was a cross-sectional, multicenter study on adult patients (≥ 16 years old) and diabetes with at least 5 years since diabetes diagnosis conducted between 2009 and 2010.

Methods: A cross-sectional analysis of baseline data from a feasibility trial was performed in children from two primary schools in Cuenca, Spain. Daily steps were measured using the Xiaomi MI Band 3.

In this study, a novel system for classifying schizophrenia patients from EEG recordings is presented.
