Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer in women. Although current treatments can increase patient survival, they are rarely curative when the disease is advanced (metastasis). Therefore, there is an urgent need to develop new cytotoxic drugs with a high selectivity toward cancer cells.

[Unmet Needs in Severe Allergic Asthma].

Severe asthma affects 3%-10% of the world's population, according to estimates by the Global Initiative for ASTHMA (GINA). Allergic asthma is one of the most common phenotypes of severe asthma and it is characterized by allergen-induced type 2 inflammation in which immunoglobulin E (IgE) is a key mediator, making it an important therapeutic target. The introduction of targeted biological therapies or treatments has entered the management for severe asthma in the era of precision medicine, and the goal of treatment is clinical remission of the disease.

Survival in multiple myeloma and SARS-COV-2 infection through the COVID-19 pandemic: Results from the EPICOVIDEHA registry.

Patients affected by multiple myeloma (MM) have an increased risk of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus type 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection and subsequent coronavirus (20)19 disease (COVID-19)-related death. The changing epidemiological and therapeutic scenarios suggest that there has been an improvement in severity and survival of COVID-19 during the different waves of the pandemic in the general population, but this has not been investigated yet in MM patients. Here we analyzed a large cohort of 1221 patients with MM and confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection observed between February 2020, and August 2022, in the EPICOVIDEHA registry from 132 centers around the world.

In comparison to other haematological malignancy patients, individuals with chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) generally have better prognosis.

Ten Issues for Updating in Community-Acquired Pneumonia: An Expert Review.

Community-acquired pneumonia represents the third-highest cause of mortality in industrialized countries and the first due to infection. Although guidelines for the approach to this infection model are widely implemented in international health schemes, information continually emerges that generates controversy or requires updating its management. This paper reviews the most important issues in the approach to this process, such as an aetiologic update using new molecular platforms or imaging techniques, including the diagnostic stewardship in different clinical settings.

Background: Drug-eluting stents (DES) are considered the therapy of choice in ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI); however, a low persistent rate of revascularizations and stent thrombosis exist over the time. We have previously shown that a paclitaxel (PTX)-drug-coated balloon (DCB) after a bare-metal stent (BMS) implantation (DCB-combined strategy) yields superior angiographic and clinical results compared to BMS in the short term. However, the long-term safety and efficacy of this approach remain uncertain.

Contemporary use of cefazolin for MSSA infective endocarditis: analysis of a national prospective cohort.

Objectives: This study aimed to assess the real use of cefazolin for methicillin-susceptible Staphylococcus aureus (MSSA) infective endocarditis (IE) in the Spanish National Endocarditis Database (GAMES) and to compare it with antistaphylococcal penicillin (ASP).

Methods: Prospective cohort study with retrospective analysis of a cohort of MSSA IE treated with cloxacillin and/or cefazolin. Outcomes assessed were relapse; intra-hospital, overall, and endocarditis-related mortality; and adverse events.

[Analysis of the echographic parameters described in the study of carpal tunnel syndrome: A systematic review].

[Telemedicine and severe asthma in our environment: Views on the experience of professionals and suggestions to make it a reality].

This paper aims to examine the recent experience in telemedicine (TM) management of patients with severe asthma (SA). A committee of health professionals involved in asthma management (pulmonology, allergology, respiratory nursing, and hospital pharmacy) held discussion meetings on the practical experience of TM for the management of SA and the means available complemented with a bibliographic search to know the current status of TM in SA. The main barriers detected for the implementation of TM in SA have been the lack of technological training, the lack of registration of TM in the clinical history, the care overload, or the connectivity problems at the administration level.

Extensive extradural pneumorrhachis related to obstetric analgesia.

Iatrogenic extradural pneumorrhachis is a rare clinical entity, but anesthesiologists should be aware of this possibility when using the air technique for the identification of epidural space. Although in most published cases extradural pneumorrhachis is asymptomatic, relevant neurological consequences have been described, such as meningeal irritation, radicular pain, unilateral lower extremity weakness, cauda equina syndrome, paraplegia, and tetraplegia.We describe a very extensive extradural pneumorrachis (T9-S1), related to obstetric analgesia, in a patient with severe and atypical perineal pain after forceps-assisted delivery.

Endometrial cancer: predictors and oncological safety of tumor tissue manipulation.

Purpose: The main goal of this study is to assess the impact of tumor manipulation on the presence of lympho-vascular space invasion and its influence on oncological results.

Methods: We performed a retrospective multi-centric study amongst patients who had received primary surgical treatment for apparently early-stage endometrial cancer. A multivariate statistical analysis model was designed to assess the impact that tumor manipulation (with the use of uterine manipulator or preoperative hysteroscopy) has on lympho-vascular development (LVSI) in the final surgical specimen.

Study of the diagnostic efficiency of anti-ZnT8 autoantibodies for type 1 diabetes in pediatric patients.

Objective: Zinc transporter 8 autoantibodies (ZNt8A) are 1 of the 4 main autoantibodies used for the diagnosis of type 1 diabetes (T1D), with glutamic acid decarboxylase autoantibodies (GADA), islet antigen-2 autoantibodies (IA-2A), and insulin autoantibodies (IAA). The objective of this study is to evaluate the diagnostic efficiency of these autoantibodies for the diagnosis of T1D in pediatric patients.

Methods: A retrospective analysis of patients under 16 years of age with suspected T1D was made between June 2020 and January 2021.
