Background: CheckMate 8HW prespecified dual primary endpoints, assessed in patients with centrally confirmed microsatellite instability-high or mismatch repair-deficient status: progression-free survival with nivolumab plus ipilimumab compared with chemotherapy as first-line therapy and progression-free survival with nivolumab plus ipilimumab compared with nivolumab alone, regardless of previous systemic treatment for metastatic disease. In our previous report, nivolumab plus ipilimumab showed superior progression-free survival versus chemotherapy in first-line microsatellite instability-high or mismatch repair-deficient metastatic colorectal cancer in the CheckMate 8HW trial. Here, we report results from the prespecified interim analysis for the other primary endpoint of progression-free survival for nivolumab plus ipilimumab versus nivolumab across all treatment lines.

Background: Intestinal transplantation (ITx) represents the only curative option for patients with irreversible intestinal failure. Nevertheless, its rejection rate surpasses that of other solid organ transplants due to the heightened immunological load of the gut. Regulatory T-cells (Tregs) are key players in the induction and maintenance of peripheral tolerance, suggesting their potential involvement in modulating host vs.

The lung is one of the most frequently metastasized organs from various cancer entities, especially colorectal cancer (CRC). The occurrence of lung metastasis correlates with worse prognosis in CRC patients. Here, we aimed to investigate the role of IL-10 in lung metastasis development and identify the cellular source and target cells of IL-10 during lung metastatic establishment.

A wide phenotypic spectrum exists among DMD patients, with genetic modifiers seen as a putative cause of this variability. The main aim was to evaluate the effect of 4 genetic modifiers and the location of DMD variants on disease severity in a DMD Argentine cohort. A secondary objective was to provide a summary of the current state of knowledge and association of the tested loci with DMD's phenotype.

Background: Patients with microsatellite-instability-high (MSI-H) or mismatch-repair-deficient (dMMR) metastatic colorectal cancer have poor outcomes with standard chemotherapy with or without targeted therapies. Nivolumab plus ipilimumab has shown clinical benefit in nonrandomized studies of MSI-H or dMMR metastatic colorectal cancer.

Methods: In this phase 3 open-label trial, we randomly assigned patients with unresectable or metastatic colorectal cancer and MSI-H or dMMR status according to local testing to receive, in a 2:2:1 ratio, nivolumab plus ipilimumab, nivolumab alone, or chemotherapy with or without targeted therapies.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to assess how 4D analysis using multiphase cardiac CT can help describe the aortic annulus in patients with bicuspid aortic valves, comparing it to those with normal tricuspid valves.
  • The methodology involved analyzing cardiac CT scans of 15 BAV patients and 15 TAV patients, measuring various 3D characteristics of the aortic annulus across different phases of the heart's cycle.
  • Results showed that the aortic annulus in BAV patients was significantly larger in multiple dimensions compared to TAV patients and demonstrated that 3D shape analysis can effectively differentiate between various types of BAV, revealing important anatomical details like the position of nonfunctional commissures.

Hypertension is responsible for more than two million deaths due to cardiovascular disease annually in Latin America (LATAM), of which one million occurs before 70 years of age. Hypertension is the main risk factor for cardiovascular morbidity and mortality, affecting between 20 and 40% of LATAM adults. Since the publication of the 2017 LASH hypertension guidelines, reports from different LATAM countries have confirmed the burden of hypertension on cardiovascular disease events and mortality in the region.

MIFAS by GRECMIP (Minimally Invasive Foot and Ankle Society), Merignac, France; Human Anatomy and Embryology Unit, Department of Pathology and Experimental Therapeutics, School of Medicine and Health Sciences, University of Barcelona, Carrer de la Feixa Llarga, s/n, 08907 L´Hospitalet de Llobregat, Barcelona, Spain.

Deformities of the lesser toes are a prevalent condition faced by orthopedic surgeons. An imbalance between the extensor and flexor muscles might cause these deformities, affecting the metatarsophalangeal joint (MTPJ) and interphalangeal joint (IPJ). Therefore, a thorough understanding of the anatomy, biomechanics of the MTPJ, the surrounding structures, and the pathogenesis of lesser toe deformities is crucial for ensuring the correct diagnosis and treatment of the deformities.

  • Hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) is crucial for treating blood-related diseases, but Latin America faces challenges in access due to limited training programs for HCT professionals.
  • A study by the Latin-American Bone Marrow Transplantation Group surveyed 127 HCT centers across 14 countries to analyze the state of training programs, revealing that only 39% of centers responded and most programs are lacking in quality and resources.
  • Major barriers identified included insufficient funding, few transplant procedures, and a lack of qualified instructors, with proposed solutions focusing on increasing student mobility, enhancing program quality, and improving funding access.

Background: The capacity of different anti-SARS-CoV-2 vaccines to elicit immune response is not equivalent in the healthy population compared to chronically immunosuppressed patients. Most of the reports available to assess the effects of anti-SARS-CoV-2 vaccines on solid organ transplant recipients (SOTR) were performed using mRNA-based vaccines.

Objective: This study aims to assess the seroconversion rate in a cohort of liver and liver- intestinal transplant patients after vaccination with the non-replicative vector-based vaccines after transplantation used in our country, Argentina (rAd26-rAd5 (Sputnik V) and ChAdOx11 nCoV-19 (AZD1222) (Astra Zeneca-Oxford).

Introduction: There are no reports in LATAM related to longitudinal humoral and cellular response to adenovirus based COVID-19 vaccines in people with Multiple Sclerosis (pwMS) under different disease modifying therapies (DMTs) and neutralization of the Omicron and Wuhan variants of SARS-COV-2.

Methods: IgG anti- SARS-COV-2 spike titer were measured in a cohort of 101 pwMS under fingolimod, dimethyl fumarate, cladribine and antiCD20, as well as 28 healthy controls (HC) were measured 6 weeks after vaccination with 2 dose (Sputnik V or AZD1222) and 3 dose (homologous or heterologous schedule). Neutralizing capacity was against Omicron (BA.

Objectives: Technical graft loss, usually thrombotic in nature, accounts for most of the pancreas grafts that are removed early after transplant. Although arterial and venous thrombosis can occur, the vein is predominantly affected, with estimated overall rate of thrombosis of 6% to 33%. In late diagnosis, the graft will need to be removed because thrombectomy will not restore its functionality.

  • Spindle cell-rich testicular sex cord-stromal tumors (TSCSTs) include types like myoid gonadal stromal tumor (MGST), adult granulosa cell tumor (AGCT), and unclassified TSCST, showing histopathologic similarities and lacking clear oncogenic drivers.
  • DNA sequencing indicates common chromosomal gains in these tumors, but further validation of these findings has not yet taken place, and the amount of chromosomal alterations varies among individual tumors.
  • This study used fluorescence in-situ hybridization (FISH) to assess chromosomal changes in 10 tumors, revealing consistent increases in specific chromosomes across various cases, while also uncovering partial disagreements between FISH analysis and previous genomic sequencing results,

This integrative review aims to highlight the importance of investigating the functional role of AHCYL1, also known as IRBIT, in cancer cells. It has recently been suggested that AHCYL1 regulates cell survival/death, stemness capacity, and the host adaptive response to the tumor microenvironment. Despite this knowledge, the role of AHCYL1 in cancer is still controversial, probably due to its ability to interact with multiple factors in a tissue-specific manner.
