Objetive: To evaluate the frequency and timing of sustained drug-free remission (SDFR) in patients with giant cell arteritis (GCA) and to identify potential predictive factors of this outcome.
Methods: Retrospective review of all patients included in the large Spanish multicentre registry for GCA (ARTESER) with at least two years of follow-up. SDFR was defined as the absence of typical signs, symptoms, or other features of active GCA for ≥12 months after discontinuation of treatment.
Background And Aims: Inflammatory pouch disorders exhibit a heterogeneous clinical spectrum and therapeutic requirements have not been properly studied.
Methods: This retrospective, multicentre study included ulcerative colitis patients with ileal pouch construction and were later diagnosed with an inflammatory pouch disorder between 1995 and 2020. Classifications, behaviour and therapies applied were recorded and compared in the long-term.

In esophagogastric surgery, the appearance of an anastomotic leak is the most feared complication. Early diagnosis is important for optimal management and successful resolution. For this reason, different studies have investigated the value of the use of markers to predict possible postoperative complications.

Background: Complete revascularization of the culprit and all significant nonculprit lesions in patients with non-ST-segment elevation acute coronary syndrome (NSTE-ACS) and multivessel disease (MVD) reduces major adverse cardiac events, but optimal timing of revascularization remains unclear.
Objectives: This study aims to compare immediate complete revascularization (ICR) and staged complete revascularization (SCR) in patients presenting with NSTE-ACS and MVD.
Methods: This prespecified substudy of the BIOVASC (Percutaneous Complete Revascularization Strategies Using Sirolimus Eluting Biodegradable Polymer Coated Stents in Patients Presenting With Acute Coronary Syndrome and Multivessel Disease) trial included patients with NSTE-ACS and MVD.

High dose-intensive or infusional intermediate-dose immunochemotherapy is highly effective treatment for Burkitt lymphoma irrespective of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection. However, toxicities of these regimens are relevant, especially in older adults and elderly patients. The prospective multicenter BURKIMAB14 trial included four to six blocks of immunochemotherapy according to stage (localized: 1 and 2 non-bulky; advanced: 2 bulky, 3, 4) and age, with dose reduction in patients >55 years old.

Corticosteroids have been used in its treatment with favorable results. We present the case of a 54-year-old female patient with a personal history of Lupus diagnosed with LAHPS following an episode of cerebellar hemorrhage.

Seven years ago, we implemented a new topical administration (moistening three gauzes with 1.5 g of TXA) in our primary total hip arthroplasties (THA).

Imipenem combined with beta-lactamase inhibitor relebactam (IMI/REL) has an extensive bactericidal activity against Gram-negative pathogens producing class A or class C beta-lactamases, not active against class B and class D. The phase 3 clinical trial (RESTORE-IMI-2), double-blind, randomized, evaluated IMI/REL vs. piperacillin-tazobactam (PIP/TAZ) for treatment of hospital-acquired pneumonia (HAP) and ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP), demonstrated non-inferiority at all-cause mortality at 28 days (15.

Objectives: Describe the technique, indications and the correct interpretation given the findings in different clinical entities, and to serve as a guide for urologists, urology residents and even medical students.
Material And Methods: A literature search was performed using Pubmed, Cochrane and Scopus database for articles and guidelines published between January 1970 and June 2020.
Results: Videourodynamics is a diagnostic procedure that combines the urodynamic study with simultaneous images of the lower urinary tract to assess the anatomy and function during the different phases of micturition.

Purpose: Data regarding vessel healing by optical coherence tomography (OCT) after everolimus-eluting bioresorbable scaffolds (BRS) or everolimus-eluting metallic stent (EES) implantation in acute myocardial infarction (AMI) patients is scarce. We compared OCT findings after BRS or EES implantation in patients with AMI enrolled in a randomized trial.
Methods: In ISAR-Absorb MI, AMI patients were randomized to BRS or EES implantation, with 6-8 month angiographic follow-up.
Background: There has been little in the way of study of nonagenarians with acute kidney injury (AKI, defined in lines with KDIGO guidelines), but the rise in their life expectancy makes further study of this population necessary. The aim of this study is to assess mortality in nonagenarians with AKI during hospitalization.
Methods: In this retrospective study, patients with AKI during hospitalization between 2013-2014 were included.

The tricuspid valve has generally been ignored, and considered as a "second class structure" in cardiac valve surgery. Tricuspid valve regurgitation is considered "functional" in over 70% of cases, generally produced by pulmonary hypertension secondary to left heart diseases in the context of an anatomically normal tricuspid valve apparatus. Many questions and doubts persist regarding to the pathogenesis of so-called functional tricuspid valve regurgitation.

Objective: Under the declaration of the state of alarm (SA) in efforts to control COVID-19, normal development of health programs was threatened. The aim of the study was the evaluation of COVID 19 emergency and SA approval impact on neonatal Endocrine and Metabolic Disorders Program (EMDP) and Neonatal Hearing Program (HP) in Madrid.
Methods: Qualitative and quantitative descriptive study was conducted.
Background The clinical significance of conduction disturbances after transcatheter aortic valve implantation has been described; however, little is known about the influence of baseline ECGs in the prognosis of these patients. Our aim was to study the influence of baseline ECG parameters, including interatrial block (IAB), in the prognosis of patients treated with transcatheter aortic valve implantation. Methods and Results The BIT (Baseline Interatrial Block and Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation) registry included 2527 patients with aortic stenosis treated with transcatheter aortic valve implantation.

Background: The combination of bortezomib, thalidomide, and dexamethasone (VTd) is a standard of care for transplant-eligible patients with newly diagnosed multiple myeloma (NDMM). Although approved labeling for VTd includes an escalating thalidomide dose up to 200 mg daily (VTd-label), a lower fixed dose of thalidomide (100 mg daily; VTd-mod) has become commonplace in clinical practice. To date, no clinical trials comparing VTd-mod with VTd-label have been performed.
