Objectives: Food protein-induced enterocolitis syndrome (FPIES) is a severe type of non-IgE (immunoglobulin E)-mediated (NIM) food allergy, with cow's milk (CM) being the most common offending food. The relationship between the gut microbiota and its metabolites with the inflammatory process in infants with CM FPIES is unknown, although evidence suggests a microbial dysbiosis in NIM patients. This study was performed to contribute to the knowledge of the interaction between the gut microbiota and its derived metabolites with the local immune system in feces of infants with CM FPIES at diagnosis.

Violence is a public health problem, and when it affects childhood, it can cause illness throughout the individual's life. Apart from being able to cause damage in the physical, mental and social spheres, it represents a violation of the rights of the affected children, and a high consumption of resources, both economic and social. A multitude of investigations have improved attention to this violence.

Objective: Analyze fecal and blood samples at point of diagnosis in IgE mediated cow's milk protein allergy (CMPA) and non-IgE mediated (NIM)-CMPA patients to look for potential new biomarkers.
Patients And Methods: Fourteen patients with IgE mediated CMPA and 13 with NIM-CMPA were recruited in three hospitals in the north of Spain, and were compared with 25 infants from a control group of the same age range. To characterize intestinal microbiota, 16S rDNA gene and internal transcribed spacer amplicons of bifidobacteria were sequenced with Illumina technology.

Aortoesophageal fistula is an extremely rare cause of upper gastrointestinal bleeding associated with high morbidity and mortality. Early clinical suspicion, as well as correct management since diagnosis, can increase the probability of survival of this gastrointestinal emergency. We present the first case reported of an aortoesophageal fistula successfully treated with the OTSC system, representing another therapeutic option for this high-risk entity.

Objective: Add-on therapy with monoclonal antibodies is the recommended therapy for severe asthmatic patients refractory to maintenance treatment. In randomized control trials, mepolizumab reduced the number of exacerbations, the need of oral corticosteroids (OCS), increased asthma control, and lung function in a population of uncontrolled severe eosinophilic asthmatic patients. In this piece of work, we aimed to assess mepolizumab efficacy and safety in a cohort of patients with severe eosinophilic asthma in real-life conditions.
