Purpose Of Review: Low back pain (LBP) is considered an important issue of public health, with annual prevalence estimations almost achieving 60% of the worldwide population. Available treatments have a limited impact on this condition, although they allow to alleviate pain and recover the patient's quality of life. This review aims to go deeper on the understanding of this condition, providing an updated, brief, and concise whole picture of this common musculoskeletal problem.

The proteomic analysis of serum extracellular vesicles (EVs) could be a useful tool for studying the pathophysiology of Crohn's disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC), as well as for biomarker discovery. To characterize the proteomic composition of serum EVs in patients with CD and UC to identify biomarkers and molecular pathways associated with pathogenesis and activity. Methods: Serum EVs were enriched and analyzed in patients with quiescent CD, active CD (aCD), quiescent UC, active UC (aUC), and healthy controls (HCs) (n = 30 per group).

: The bite of the Loxosceles spider is a public health problem around the world, mainly in Latin America. The viscerocutaneous presentation is related to the inoculation of toxins (phospholipase-D) that generates a systemic inflammatory reaction with a subsequent increase in cytokines and chemokines. Hemoadsorption is proposed as a therapy that allows for the removal of the toxin and modulation of the inflammatory response in this disease.

Background: Plasma metabolites could be suitable as predictive biomarkers for cardiovascular pathologies or death, thereby improving the prediction of protein biomarkers. The release of acylcarnitines may be altered after coronary artery disease (CAD) in subjects with recurrent clinical outcomes, and this could be used as a prognosis tool.
Methods: Patients with stable coronary artery disease (SCAD) who had suffered an acute coronary syndrome 6-9 months before were followed for up to 4.

Multidrug-resistant bacteria cause over 700,000 deaths annually, a figure projected to reach 10 million by 2050. Among these bacteria, the ESKAPEE group is notable for its multiple resistance mechanisms. Given the high costs of developing new antimicrobials and the rapid emergence of resistance, drug repositioning offers a promising alternative.

: Psoriasis is a skin disease characterized by the presence of erythematous, scaly plaques on the extensor surfaces of the body. Treatment varies according to the stage of the disease, with the most severe cases being treated with biologic treatments that differ in efficacy and persistence over time. This study aimed to evaluate the 10-year persistence of biologic drugs (adalimumab, etanercept, infliximab and ustekinumab) in the treatment of moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis.

Amoebas are characterized by their unique ability to exist both as free-living organisms and, occasionally, as parasites within host tissues, earning them the designation 'amphizoic amoebae'. While amoebic infections are less prevalent, their health impact can be tremendous, leading to several diseases. In low-income countries, poor sanitation and socioeconomic conditions significantly increase the risk of amoebic infections, particularly E.

Anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic autoantibody (ANCA)-associated vasculitis is characterised by small vessel necrotising inflammatory vasculitis. Prior to immunosupressant therapy availability it usually led to a fatal outcome. Current treatment has changed ANCA-associated vasculitis into a condition with a significant response rate, although with a not negligible relapse occurrence and cumulative organ lesions, mostly due to drug-related toxicities.

Etrasimod is a synthetic, non-biological, orally administered small molecule sphingosine-1-phosphate receptor (S1PR) modulator. Etrasimod was approved by the Food and Drug Administration in 2023 and by the European Medicine Agency in 2024, constituting a new therapeutic option for the treatment of moderately to severely active ulcerative colitis in patients 16 years of age and older in the European Union. Its efficacy and tolerability have been demonstrated in several clinical trials both as induction and maintenance treatment, as well as in long-term extension studies.

Background: This study evaluated the effects of resistance training (RT) and high-intensity interval training (HIIT) on systolic (SBP) and diastolic blood pressure (DBP) in hypertensive older adults undergoing pharmacological therapy over four and eight weeks. We compared the efficacy of RT and HIIT in reducing non-responders (NRs) between weeks 4 and 8 and analyzed time-course adaptations in NRs and responders (Rs).
Methods: Thirty-nine participants were randomized into RT-G ( = 13), HIIT-G ( = 13), or control (CG, = 13) groups.

The limitations of pharmacological treatments for chronic pain have become increasingly evident: dependency, side effects, resistance, and diminishing efficacy. The urgent need for innovative solutions has become a compelling focus for improving patient outcomes. Innovative non-pharmacological approaches, such as sleep management, as a strategy to reduce opioid consumption and pain control are needed.
