Studies on nutritional recommendations for pregnant women who exercise are scarce. The objective of this article is not to focus on the diet of pregnant women as a whole, but to review those aspects of it that may be related to physical exercise. To this end, the nutritional and hydration recommendations contained in the main clinical practice guides on physical exercise during pregnancy are collected, including the first Spanish guides.

Objective: Multiple strategies have been utilised to reduce the incidence of HIV, including PrEP and rapid antiretroviral therapy initiation. The study objectives were to evaluate the efficacy, safety, satisfaction, treatment adherence, and system retention obtained with rapid initiation of bictegravir/emtricitabine/tenofovir alafenamide (BIC/FTC/TAF) in naïve patients.
Methods: This phase IV, multicenter, open-label, single-arm, 48-week clinical trial enrolled patients between January 2020 and June 2022.
Background: Massive gastrointestinal bleeding is a life-threatening condition without a well-established definition. We aimed to analyze the characteristics, risk factors, and outcomes of patients with massive upper gastrointestinal bleeding.
Methods: Our study analyzed a prospective registry of patients admitted between 2013 and 2020 with variceal and non-variceal causes.

A previously developed fibrin-agarose skin model-UGRSKIN-showed promising clinical results in severely burnt patients. To determine the histological parameters associated to the biocompatibility and therapeutic effects of this model, we carried out a comprehensive structural and ultrastructural study of UGRSKIN grafted in severely burnt patients after 3 months of follow-up. The grafted epidermis was analogue to native human skin from day 30th onward, revealing well-structured strata with well-differentiated keratinocytes expressing CK5, CK8, CK10, claudin, plakoglobin, filaggrin, and involucrin in a similar way to controls, suggesting that the epidermis was able to mature and differentiate very early.

Iatrogenic bile duct injury is a rare complication, although feared due to its morbidity and mortality. In urgent surgeries, its incidence can be doubled, so in selected cases we must assess the use of resources such as indocyanine green to minimize the risk of biliary or arterial lesions by allowing the correct identification of the structures. We present the case of a 57-year-old patient with acute cholecystitis who underwent laparoscopic cholecystectomy.

Tuberculous otitis media (TOM) is a rare affectation in our environment that represents a challenge in its diagnosis due to the non-specific symptoms that it usually presents. This paper presents our experience in the diagnosis of a case of TOM in a 66-year-old woman with hearing loss and chronic otorrhea of more than 6 months of evolution that did not respond to conventional treatments. In addition, a review of the cases published in the last 20 years (2000-2022) in countries of the European Union (EU) is carried out.

Aim: Patients with systemic sclerosis (SSc) are at increased risk of cancer, a growing cause of non-SSc-related death among these patients. We analyzed the increased cancer risk among Spanish patients with SSc using standardized incidence ratios (SIRs) and identified independent cancer risk factors in this population.
Material And Methods: Spanish Scleroderma Registry data were analyzed to determine the demographic characteristics of patients with SSc, and logistic regression was used to identify cancer risk factors.

The aim of this study was to assess the prevalence of germline variants in cancer-predisposing genes by either targeted (BRCA1/2) or multigene NGS panel in a high-risk Hereditary Breast and Ovarian Cancer (HBOC) cohort. Samples from 824 Caucasian probands were retrospectively collected and the impact of genetic diagnosis and genetic variants epidemiology in this cohort was evaluated. Performance of risk-reducing prophylactic measures, such as prophylactic mastectomy and/or prophylactic oophorectomy, was assessed through clinical follow-up of patients with a positive genetic result.

Little published information is available on the mapping and ablation with zero-fluoroscopy (ZF) of ASC-PVC. The aim of the study was to determine the efficacy and safety of ASC-PVC ablation with a ZF approach guided by 3D intracardiac echocardiography integration in the electroanatomical mapping system (ICE 3D-EAM).

In order to reduce this over burden and to avoid a potential system collapse, it would be beneficial to generate scientific evidence for the prognosis of the disease and to count with models that are able to forecast the mortality and progression of the disease. Identify mortality risk factors in COVID-19 patients from analytic data obtained from the Emergency Service at our hospital and to elaborate a prognostic score for predicting 30-day mortality (PMCovid Score) that will be included in the report submitted by the Emergency Clinic Laboratory.

Anal squamous cell carcinoma is the most frequent virus-related non-AIDS-defining neoplasia among HIV-infected individuals, especially MSM. The objectives of this study were to analyze the effectiveness of the quadrivalent HPV (qHPV) vaccine to prevent anal ≥ high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions (≥HSILs), external ano-genital lesions (EAGLs), and infection by qHPV vaccine genotypes in HIV+ MSM, and to study the immunogenicity of the vaccine and risk factors for ≥ HSILs. This study is nested within a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial of the qHPV vaccine, which enrolled participants between May 2012 and May 2014, with a 48-month follow-up.

Despite major therapeutic progress, most advanced solid tumors are still incurable. Cancer interception is the active way to combat cancer onset, and development of this approach within high-risk populations seems a logical first step. Until now, strategies for the identification of high-risk subjects have been based on low-sensitivity and low-specificity assays.

Background: Pharmacokinetic and efficacy data on dolutegravir in pregnant women living with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) are still limited but needed to support its use as one of the preferred antiretroviral agents.
Methods: Within the multicenter Pharmacokinetics of ANtiretroviral agents in HIV-infected pregNAnt women (PANNA) study, pregnant women living with HIV and using dolutegravir once daily (50 mg, with food) underwent 24-hour pharmacokinetic profiling in their third trimester and postpartum. Dolutegravir exposure in the third trimester was considered adequate if geometric mean unbound, pharmacologically active, minimal plasma concentrations (Cmin, unbound) and ≥90% of individual Cmin, unbound levels were >0.
