Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are a public health problem worldwide, and current diagnostic methods have certain limitations. In recent years, volatile organic compounds (VOCs) have been studied as an alternative diagnostic method. Due to this, this study aimed to detect, in vaginal swabs and urine samples, VOCs emitted by highly prevalent STIs-causing bacteria (Chlamydia trachomatis, Mycoplasma genitalium, and Neisseria gonorrhoeae) to identify potential biomarkers that allow the detection of these STIs.

Purpose: Patients with isolated distal deep vein thrombosis (DVT) have lower rates of adverse outcomes (death, venous thromboembolism [VTE] recurrence or major bleeding) than those with proximal DVT. It is uncertain if such findings are also observed in patients with cancer.
Methods: Using data from the international Registro Informatizado de la Enfermedad TromboEmbolica venosa registry, we compared the risks of adverse outcomes at 90 days (adjusted odds ratio [aOR]; 95% CI) and 1 year (adjusted hazard ratio [aHR; 95% CI]) in 886 patients with cancer-associated distal DVT versus 5,196 patients with cancer-associated proximal DVT and 5,974 patients with non-cancer-associated distal DVT.

Introduction: Before cataloguing a morbid process as a "mental disorder", it is essential to bear in mind the importance of early diagnosis of causes of non-psychiatric origin for a possible clinical presentation. For this reason, we will try to reflect this fact, which it seems necessary to remember even though it is well known, since it can be overlooked in emergency situations in the hospital setting, with the consequences derived from an incomplete diagnosis and with the potential life-threatening risk for the patient.
Case Presentation: A 13-year-old female adolescent, who presented an acute clinical picture suggestive of dissociative disorder.

Trichomoniasis, a disease caused by Trichomonas vaginalis, is the most common non-viral sexually transmitted infection worldwide. The importance of its diagnosis lies in its ease of transmission and the absence of symptoms in most cases, as occurs in men, which have a significant role as asymptomatic carriers. The most widely used diagnostic methods are the fresh examination of vaginal or urethral secretions and molecular techniques.
