Small fetuses, with estimated fetal weight (EFW) below the tenth percentile, are classified as fetal growth restriction (FGR) or small for gestational age (SGA) based on prenatal ultrasound. FGR fetuses have a greater risk of stillbirth and perinatal complications and may benefit from serial ultrasound scans to guide early delivery. Abnormal serum angiogenic factors, such as the soluble fms-like tyrosine kinase-1 (sFlt-1):placental growth factor (PlGF) ratio, have shown potential to more accurately distinguish FGR from SGA, with fewer false positives.

Background: The results of ablation of sustained monomorphic ventricular tachycardia (SMVT) are suboptimal. For many patients with implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs), ICD electrograms (ICD-EGs) provide the only available information on SMVT. ICD-EGs have the ability to distinguish morphologically distinct SMVT and can be used for pace mapping.

Background: Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is an increasing concern for people living with HIV (PLWH). However, information on the impact of NAFLD on the prognosis of PLWH is very scarce.
Aims: To investigate the influence of NAFLD on the overall and liver-related mortality in PLWH.

The concept of "disease related malnutrition" (DRM) is far from the concept of malnutrition classically diagnosed in public health, which is determined by socio-demographic factors. In 2008, the Spanish Society of Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism (SENPE) and the Spanish Society of Medical Documentation (SEDOM) published a consensus defining more precisely the types of malnutrition seen in hospitals and their corresponding coding. Changes in the International Classification of Diseases (ICD) and the evolution of clinical information have made it necessary to revise and update this consensus in order to establish new criteria to guide the recording and coding of diagnoses of malnutrition in the field of hospital care, thus facilitating the work of both clinicians and coders and improving the visibility of DRE, by adapting from the clinical diagnoses of undernutrition based on the GLIM criteria (Global Leadership Initiative on Malnutrition) proposed by the scientific societies to the current codes proposed by ICD-10-ES.

Self-reported occupational exposure was previously associated with COPD in the Spanish population. This study aimed to analyse the relationship between occupational exposure to various chemical and biological agents, COPD, emphysema, and the bronchial wall area, which was determined by lung computed tomography (CT) in 226 individuals with COPD and 300 individuals without COPD. Lifetime occupational exposures were assessed using the ALOHA(+) job exposure matrix, and CT and spirometry were also performed.

Background: The introduction of antiretroviral therapy (ARV) has significantly improved the survival of people living with HIV (PLWH), increasing the proportion of individuals over 50 years old. This aging trend poses challenges, such as the development of age-related comorbidities and a higher prevalence of polypharmacy. The pharmacotherapeutic complexity, assessed using the Medication Regimen Complexity Index (MRCI), is crucial for identifying and optimizing treatment, especially in elderly and polymedicated patients.

The prevalence of active hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection is higher in hospital emergency departments (EDs) than in the general population. Numerous patients who seek emergency care are unaware that they have detectable viremia, yet they fall outside established ED protocols for HCV screening. Often they belong to groups with difficult access to health care who use the ED as their point of entry to the system.

Sacituzumab-govitecan (Sgov) is a new antibody-drug conjugate recently approved for metastatic triple negative breast cancer (mTNBC), so there are still few data published in the real-world setting. This study was to analyze the effectiveness and safety of Sgov in mTNBC of patients from the three main hospitals of a city and to compare with the pivotal ASCENT-trial. A total of 46 patients were included, all women diagnosed with mTNBC, with a median age of 52 years and Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group performance status 0-1 71.

Background: Data about antibiotic de-escalation in sepsis associated with the bloodstream and caused by Enterobacterales are scarce. The objectives of this study are to identify factors associated with early de-escalation and to analyse the impact of de-escalation on mortality in patients with Enterobacterales bloodstream infection (BSI) with a Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (SOFA) score ≥ 2.
Methods: A prospective, multicentre cohort study was performed including episodes of BSI due to Enterobacterales and a SOFA score ≥ 2 who were receiving an active antipseudomonal β-lactam; the isolate should be susceptible to at least 1 narrower-spectrum antibiotic.
