Background: Cardiogenic shock (CS) is a significant complication of Takotsubo syndrome (TTS), contributing to heightened mortality and morbidity. Despite this, the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (SCAI) staging system for CS severity lacks validation in patients with TTS and CS. This study aimed to characterize a patient cohort with TTS using the SCAI staging system and assess its utility in cases of TTS complicated by CS.

Background And Purpose: The neurological course after stroke is highly variable and is determined by demographic, clinical and genetic factors. However, other heritable factors such as epigenetic DNA methylation could play a role in neurological changes after stroke.
Methods: We performed a three-stage epigenome-wide association study to evaluate DNA methylation associated with the difference between the National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) at baseline and at discharge (ΔNIHSS) in ischaemic stroke patients.

Anti-deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) antibodies in the clinical laboratory are intimately linked to the diagnosis and monitoring of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE); however, the characteristics of the analytical methods and the properties of the antibodies themselves are heterogeneous. To review the definition and properties of anti-double-stranded anti-DNA (anti-dsDNA) antibodies, the adequacy of analytical methods, and the clinical requirements for this biomarker. Through PubMed we searched the existing literature with the terms anti-dsDNA, editorial, review, guideline, meta-analysis and SLE.

Objective: To establish a series of recommendations based on available evidence for monitoring surface contamination in the areas devoted to compounding hazardous drugs in pharmacy departments.
Method: Based on a literature search in the Medline and Embase databases (search period: January 2009 to July 2019), as well as on a review of standards and recommendations issued by different healthcare organizations, a committee of experts from the Spanish Society of Hospital Pharmacists defined a series of safe practices for handling hazardous drugs and monitoring compounding work surfaces. Recommendation decisions were adopted by consensus among the members of the expert group, considering the recommendations reviewed, the monitoring situation in Spanish hospital departments, and the associated costs.
Prenatal care, understood as routine care provided during pregnancy, should be based on basic pillars, such as taking into account the sociocultural context in which such care is offered, ensuring that the service is appropriate, accessible and of high quality, and also with care personalized. According to World Health Organization, the minimum number of recommended visits during pregnancy should be eight, with the different professionals involved in the process, in addition to preparing for childbirth or maternal education. Since the pandemic erupted due to SARS-CoV-2, many of the usual social health services have had to adapt to provide safety and prevent infection, a priority in vulnerable groups where pregnant women are found.

New treatment strategies such as immune checkpoint inhibitors and oncolytic viruses are opening new possibilities in cancer therapy. Preliminary results in melanoma and other tumors showed that the combination of talimogene laherparepvec with an anti-PD-1/PD-L1 or anti-CTLA4 has greater efficacy than either therapy alone, without additional safety concerns beyond those expected for each agent. The presence of residual cancer after neoadjuvant chemotherapy in early breast cancer patients is an unmet medical need.

In the elderly, pneumonia often has a less florid clinical presentation and is frequently complicated by decompensation of concomitant diseases. Elderly patients have special characteristics in terms of the pathogens involved in pneumonia; they are at greater risk of multiresistant bacterial infections because of their frequent contact with the health services. Lung infections in immunosuppressed individuals have different causes depending on the immune deficiency in question.
