Background: Cardiogenic shock (CS) complicates Takotsubo syndrome (TTS), significantly affecting patient outcomes. Since avoiding catecholamines, particularly inotropic agents, is recommended in TTS, temporary mechanical circulatory support (MCS) shows promise as a bridge to recovery. However, there is no prospective data on its use in TTS.

Introduction: Data on the association between kidney function and Takotsubo syndrome (TTS) outcomes are scarce and conflictive.

Objective: To assess the impact of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and acute renal failure (ARF) in patients with TTS.

Material And Methods: Patients from the prospective nation-wide (RETAKO) registry were included and divided into quartiles of maximum creatinine (Cr) level during hospitalization.

The aim of the proposed recommendations is be a tool to facilitate decision-making in patients with a solitary pulmonary nodule (SPN). For an optimal decision, accessibility to the different diagnostics techniques and patient preferences need to be incorporated. The first assessment, which includes a chest computed tomography scan, separates a group of patients with extrapulmonary neoplasm or a high surgical risk who require individualized management.

Laser periocular surgery has achieved an increased popularity, particularly since the widespread use of CO(2) and erbium:yttrium aluminum garnet laser and more recently with the development of nonablative laser technology. The main target of these techniques is to treat photoaging changes to obtain a rejuvenated skin. Despite the relatively safety of these procedures on experienced hands, postoperative complications affecting the periocular region, and the eye itself, may follow laser surgery.

The authors analyze the effectiveness of a collagen cicatrizant powder for use in treating radiodermatitis compared with extra fine hydrocolloidal dressings by evaluating skin lesions according to the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG) intensity scale. As the same time, the authors evaluate the patient's opinion regarding the treatment he/she receives. This study was carried out in the Valladolid University Clinical Hospital's Department of Radiotherapy.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the renoprotective effect of a specific platelet-activating factor antagonist (WEB-2086) in an experimental model of normothermic renal ischemia. Twenty New Zealand white rabbits were studied for 2 days before and 24 hours after a 60-minute period of renal ischemia induced by bilateral clamping of the renal arteries. The animals were divided into two groups: a control group (group A; n = 10) and a treated group (group B; n = 10).

The purpose of this prospective study was to determine the value of intraoperative intra-arterial fibrinolytic therapy (IIFT) in patients with acute arterial ischemia as an adjunct to mechanical thromboembolectomy. Sixty-six femoropopliteal or distal acute arterial occlusions were assessed by means of arteriography and Doppler imaging pre- and postoperatively. Two groups of patients were compared: one (n = 35) in which mechanical thromboembolectomy was applied as the single technique and another (n = 31) in which 250,000 IU of urokinase diluted in 250 ml of normal saline solution was instilled at the end of mechanical thromboembolectomy over a 30-minute period with the arterial inflow occluded.
