Background: Patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) have a higher prevalence of comorbidities compared to the general population. However, the implications of multimorbidity on therapeutic response and treatment retention remain unexplored.

Objectives: (a) To evaluate the impact of multimorbidity on the effectiveness of the first targeted synthetic or biologic disease-modifying antirheumatic drug (ts/bDMARD), in patients with RA after 2-year follow-up; (b) to investigate the influence of multimorbidity on treatment retention rate.

We present the results of the application of a hospital model to improve performance in sepsis care, called , with the aim of reducing mortality.

To keep pace with these advances, assisted reproduction laboratories should adhere to a quality management system that addresses staffing and training, physical space and air quality, equipment maintenance and other operational matters, and ensures gamete and embryo handling in accordance with the latest quality and safety standards. Accordingly, this review aims to provide a reference document that highlights the critical aspects to consider when establishing and operating an ART laboratory.

The COVID-19 pandemic has created unprecedented challenges for health care systems globally. This study aimed to explore the presence of mental illness in a Spanish cohort of COVID-19-infected population and to evaluate the association between the presence of specific mental health conditions and the risk of death and hospitalization. This is a retrospective cohort study including all individuals with confirmed infection by SARS-CoV-2 from the PRECOVID (Prediction in COVID-19) Study (Aragon, Spain).

Introduction: Although pulmonary involvement due to alpha-1 antitrypsin (AAT) deficiency has been widely described, most studies focus on the genotypes causing severe deficiency (<60 mg/dL).

Objective: The aim of this study was to analyze the prevalence of the different AAT gene variants that do not cause severe deficiency in patients with pulmonary emphysema diagnosed by thoracic computed tomography (CT). Background: While the presence of SARS-CoV-2 in human breast milk is contentious, anti-SARS-CoV-2 antibodies have been consistently detected in human breast milk. However, it is uncertain when and how long the antibodies are present.

Methods: This was a prospective cohort study including all consecutive pregnant women with confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection during pregnancy, recruited at six maternity units in Spain and Hong Kong from March 2020 to March 2021.

ADAMTS13 recovery in acute thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura after caplacizumab therapy.

Caplacizumab prevents the interaction between von Willebrand factor and platelets and is used to treat immune thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (iTTP). Its administration has been associated with a delay in ADAMTS13 activity restoration after plasma exchange (PEX) suspension. We analyzed the outcomes of 113 iTTP episodes, 75 of which were treated with caplacizumab, in 108 patients from the Spanish Registry of Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura.

Very-Low-Level Viremia, Inflammatory Biomarkers, and Associated Baseline Variables: Three-Year Results of the Randomized TANGO Study.

Background: We compared proportions of participants with target detected, target not detected (TND), and elevated viral load (VL) and assessed baseline variables associated with week 144 inflammatory biomarker levels between dolutegravir-lamivudine (DTG/3TC) and tenofovir alafenamide-based regimens (TBRs) in the TANGO study (post hoc).

Methods: TANGO is an open-label, multicenter, phase 3 study that randomized adults with VL <50 copies/mL to switch to once-daily fixed-dose DTG/3TC or continue TBR. At baseline and each study visit, the VL was measured.

Design: Retrospective analysis of data from a prospectively designed observational outcomes registry, the Fight Retinal Blindness! Project, of patients treated in European centers.

Participants: Treatment-naïve eyes (1 eye per patient) starting VEGF inhibitors for nAMD from January 2017 to March 2020 with 24 months of follow-up.

Perspectives of primary care physicians in Spain on malaria: a cross-sectional survey and retrospective review of cases.

Background: In Spain, the risk of imported malaria has increased in recent years due to the rise in international travel and migration. Little is known about the knowledge, information sources, clinical practice, and specific needs of primary care physicians (PCPs) concerning malaria despite the pivotal role played by these professionals in managing the health of tourists. The objective of this study was to assess the knowledge, attitudes, and practices of PCPs in Spain regarding malaria.

Local recurrence and metastatic disease in pheochromocytomas and sympathetic paragangliomas.

Purpose: To evaluate the rate of recurrence among patients with pheochromocytomas and sympathetic paragangliomas (PGLs; together PPGLs) and to identify predictors of recurrence (local recurrence and/or metastatic disease).

Methods: This retrospective multicenter study included information of 303 patients with PPGLs in follow-up in 19 Spanish tertiary hospitals. Recurrent disease was defined by the development of local recurrence and/or metastatic disease after initial complete surgical resection.
