COPD is a disease with a high prevalence that diminishes the quality of life of many patients. Despite this, there are still high rates of under-diagnosis in Spain, partly due to a lack of recognition of the pathology by patients. In this context, the role played by primary care teams becomes fundamental, as they are one of the first lines of entry into the health system.

Background: Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a chronic lung condition that is more prevalent in males than females. The reasons for this are not fully understood, with differing environmental exposures due to historically sex-biased occupations, or diagnostic bias, being possible explanations. To date, over 20 independent genetic variants have been identified to be associated with IPF susceptibility, but these have been discovered when combining males and females.

Obesity is a multifactorial, chronic, progressive and recurrent disease considered a public health issue worldwide and an important determinant of disability and death. In Spain, its current prevalence in the adult population is about 24% and an estimated prevalence in 2035 of 37%. Obesity increases the probability of several diseases linked to higher mortality such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, hyperlipidemia, arterial hypertension, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, several types of cancer, or obstructive sleep apnea.

Background: Crohn's disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC) are inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) that contributes in part to irreversible bowel damage and long-term complications, reduced quality of life, invalidity, and economic burden. Suboptimal control of IBD is associated with higher healthcare resource utilization (HCRU), impaired quality of life (QoL), and reduced work productivity.
Aims: The IBD-PODCAST study aimed to assess the proportion of IBD patients with suboptimal control and its associated impact.

Dent disease (DD) is an X-linked renal tubulopathy characterized by low-molecular-weight proteinuria, hypercalciuria, nephrocalcinosis, nephrolithiasis and progressive renal failure. Two-thirds of cases are associated with inactivating variants in the gene (Dent disease 1, DD1) and a few present variants in the gene (Dent disease 2, DD2). The aim of the present study was to test the effect on the pre-mRNA splicing process of DD variants, described here or in the literature, and describe the clinical and genotypic features of thirteen unrelated patients with suspected DD.

Objective: Our aim was to add to the small but growing body of evidence on the effectiveness of ultrasound-guided Achilles intratendinous hyperosmolar dextrose prolotherapy and introduce a novel, preceding step of paratenon hydrodissection with lidocaine in patients with chronic Achilles tendinosis resistant to rehabilitation therapy.
Methods: We conducted a longitudinal, observational study on 27 consecutive patients diagnosed with Achilles tendinosis, in whom conservative treatment, ie, physiotherapy or shock wave therapy, had failed. A 2% lidocaine paratenon anesthesia and hydrodissection was followed by ultrasound-guided, intratendinous injections of 25% glucose every 5 weeks.
