Aim Of The Study: Surgery is considered a stressful experience for children and their families who undergo elective procedures. Different tools have been developed to improve perioperative anxiety. Our objective is to demonstrate if the audiovisual psychoprophylaxis reduces anxiety linked to paediatric surgery.

[Functional outcomes in postsurgery for Hirschsprung´s disease].

Objective: To analyze functional outcomes of patients operated for Hirschsprung's disease (HD).

Methods And Material: Retrospective study of patients with HD (2000-2014). We analyzed surgical technique, age at diagnostic and treatment, amount of resected bowel, complications and their influence on functional outcomes.

[Is there an ideal patient for transumbilical laparoscopic assisted appendectomy?].

Objectives: To identify the factors that lead to postoperative morbidity in acute appendicitis patients treated using a TULAA (Transumbilical laparoscopic assisted appendectomy) approach.

Material And Methods: Retrospective review of patients treated through a TULAA approach between 2007 and 2014. Data concerning the location of the appendix, need for conversion, appendiceal abscess or perforation, surgical time and other complications were collected.

[Consensus on castration-resistant prostate cancer management in Spain.].

Objectives: To move towards a more standardized approach in clinical practice to manage patients with castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC) in Spain.

Methods: A panel of 18 Spanish experts in Urology with expertise managing CRPC followed a modified Delphi process with two rounds and a final face-to-face consensus meeting. The panel considered a total of 106 clinical questions divided into the following 6 sections: definition of CRPC, diagnosis of metastases by imaging techniques, symptoms of CRPC, progression of CRPC, M0 and M1 management and therapeutic sequencing.

Objectives: To assess the long-term evolution of the testicles preserved after testicular torsion (TT).

Material And Methods: We realized a prospective study by ultrasound of patients diagnosed TT that underwent orchidopexy. We reviewed 85 patients treated for acute scrotum (2004-2014), finding 49TT.

Threatened preterm labor is a risk factor for impaired cognitive development in early childhood.

Background: Threatened preterm labor is a leading cause of hospital admission during pregnancy. Patients with an episode of threatened preterm labor who deliver at term are considered to have false preterm labor. However, threatened preterm labor has been proposed as a pathologic insult that is not always sufficient to induce irreversible spontaneous preterm birth but that could alter the normal course of pregnancy.

[Endocrine disrupting chemicals exposure and other parental factors in hypospadias and cryptorchidism etiology].

Aim Of The Study: To investigate the association between endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDC) exposure and other paternal factors in the etiology of hipospadias and cryptorchidism.

Methods: A case-control study. Cases were infants between 0 and 6 years of age diagnosed with hypospadias or cryptorchidism in our pediatric urology and general pediatric surgery services during a period of 6 months, and controls were infants with the same range of age attending the same services without any urological problem.

[Clinical assessment of fecal incontinence in patients with anorectal malformation surgery].

Background/purpose: To review our management of anorectal malformations (ARM) and to compare two quantitative scales for clinical assessment of fecal incontinence.

Material And Methods: We reviewed all patients with ARM surgery who are currently 3 to 15 years old. Several variables were collected and fecal incontinence was evaluated using two scales: the Holschneider scale and one used previously in our Service, both were filled out through clinical interview.

The main causes of these symptoms are related to stent's design and the materials they are manufactured from. Vesicoureteral reflux and bladder trigone irritation are the etiopathogenic causes of ureteral stents associated morbidity.

Ataxia and focal dystonia in Kallmann syndrome.

A case of Kallmann syndrome (KS) associated with rare neurological manifestations is presented. Cerebellar ataxia probably caused by a small posterior fossa and a focal dystonia affecting the left lower limb expand the spectrum of neurological manifestations occurring in KS. Further studies are needed to better understand these manifestations.

[Usefulness of clinical nomograms and predictive models for pca. Predictive clinical factors of tumor agressiveness].

In this narrative review we present the natural evolution of predictive models to their presentation in the nomogram format. We show their clinical usefulness and the objective parameters that contribute to their clinical use: calibration, discrimination, decision curves and probability density functions. We continue detailing the various existing predictive models/nomograms in relation to prostate cancer aggressiveness before and after biopsy, before and after primary treatment, recurrence and castration resistance.

[Management of chylous fistulas, a rare complication after urologic surgery].

Objective: To analyze the different treatments for postoperative chylous fistulae.

Methods: A literature review of the main treatments for postoperative chylous fistula, providing our initial experience of two cases of patients with postsurgical chylorrea, with conservative treatment.

Results: There is very limited experience in the treatment of chylous ascites.

The diet history is a traditional method of analysis of food intake. In its traditional structure consists of three components that provide an overall information of the usual food consumption pattern of the individual and also detailed information on certain foods. The information is collected in an interview and requires highly experienced qualified interviewers.

Historical overview of diet assessment and food consumption surveys in Spain: assessment methods and applications.

The food consumption assessment methods are used in nutrition and health population surveys and are the basis for the development of guidelines, nutritional recommendations and health plans, The study of these issues is one of the major tasks of the research and health policy in developed countries. Major advances nationally in this area have been made since 1940, both in the reliability of the data and in the standardization of studies, which is a necessary condition to compare changes over time. In this article the history and application of different dietary surveys, dietary history and food frequency records are analyzed.

[Intravenous drugs infusion safety through smart pumps].

Objective: To analyze the role of smart infusion pumps in reducing errors related with the administration of intravenous medications.

Method: Retrospective, observational study analyzing the implementation of a system with smart intravenous infusion pumps (Hospira MedNetTM) and the role of the safety system for the detection of errors during the administration of drugs, sera, and blood. We included infusions administered at the day-care hospitals of hematology, oncology, rheumatology, and oncopediatrics.

[Selection criteria and nomograms for active surveillance in prostate cáncer].

In the present review we detail the more universally accepted selection criteria in the various protocols of active surveillance in prostate cancer; we also identify and classify twenty nomograms/predictive models useful for decision making in active surveillance for prostate cancer. These models are classified in accordance to their prediction (High grade prostate cancer in radical prostatectomy specimen [Gleason grade > 7], understaging on biopsy compared to prostatectomy specimen, pathological stage, indolent cancer or progression after expectant therapy). We also detail the predictive variables used in each model for estimations, their internal validation parameters, the samples used to generate them, and the external validations if they were done.

Clinical challenges in the management of isolated GH deficiency type IA in adulthood.

Unlabelled: Isolated GH deficiency type IA (IGHDIA) is an infrequent cause of severe congenital GHD, often managed by pediatric endocrinologists, and hence few cases in adulthood have been reported. Herein, we describe the clinical status of a 56-year-old male with IGHDIA due to a 6.7 kb deletion in GH1 gene that encodes GH, located on chromosome 17.
