Background: Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) have failed to demonstrate the beneficial effects of the pharmacological treatment of patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) in preterm infants. We conducted a Bayesian model averaged (BMA) meta-analysis of RCTs comparing the pharmacological treatment of PDA with placebo or expectant treatment.
Methods: We searched for RCTs including infants with gestational age (GA) ≤ 32 weeks and with a rate of open-label treatment of less than 25% in the control arm.

Infection with Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) shows a higher risk of infection by Human papillomavirus (HPV). We aim to provide evidence about the effect of a -based vaginal gel (Papilocare®) for treating HPV in women with HIV. Women ≥25 years coinfected by endocervical HPV and with low-grade abnormal cervicovaginal cytology were treated for 6 months with Papilocare® in this observational, prospective, non-controlled pilot study.

Objective: To determine the frequency of uterine contrast agent intravasation during HyCoSy/HyFoSy for assessing tubal patency in infertile women.
Methods: Prospective observational multicenter study performed in nine European university hospitals, comprising a series of non-consecutive women who underwent HyFoSy (ExEm foam) for tubal patency assessment in the context of infertility between May 2016 and December 2022. All examinations were performed using the same scanning protocol.
Objective: Laparoscopic cholecystectomy is typically carried out using four ports. The objective of this study was to describe the percutaneous gallbladder traction technique, which allows the number of ports to be reduced, thus optimizing the procedure, with a similar exposure of the surgical site.
Materials And Methods: 2 pediatric patients with symptomatic cholelithiasis underwent laparoscopic surgery from January 2021 to January 2024.

Background: to prove the effectivity of fertility-sparing procedures in early-stage ovarian cancer by assessing pregnancy rates and obstetrical outcomes.
Methods: we performed a retrospective multicenter study among 55 Spanish hospitals, collecting patients from 18 to 40 years old with diagnosis of early-stage ovarian cancer, epithelial (EOC) or non-epithelial (non-EOC), from January 2010 to December 2019. Data on the use of assisted reproductive techniques, pregnancy attempts and obstetrical outcomes were collected.

Rates of childhood cancer survival in developed countries have risen to over 80-85 %. In consequence, the population of childhood cancer survivors (CCS) has grown considerably. Nevertheless, CCS present a high morbidity and mortality due to cancer or its treatment, with an increased risk of premature mortality, second primary tumors and late side effects, both physical and psychosocial, all of which decrease the quality of life.

Introduction: Our aim was to determine which foetal or neonatal growth curves discriminate the probability of dying of newborns with low birth weight for their gestational age (small for gestational age, SGA) and sex (weight < 10th percentile) and to establish the curves that are presumably most useful for monitoring growth through age 10 years.
Material And Methods: The analysis included every neonate (15 122) managed in our hospital (2013-2022) and all neonates born preterm before 32 weeks (6913) registered in the SEN1500 database (2019-2022). We considered most useful those curves with the highest likelihood ratio (LR) for dying with or without a history of SGA in each subgroup of gestational ages.

: In pregnant women, COVID-19 can alter the metabolic environment, cell metabolism, and oxygen supply of trophoblastic cells and, therefore, have a negative influence on essential mechanisms of fetal development. The purpose of this study was to investigate, for the first time, the effects of COVID-19 infection during pregnancy with regard to the bone turnover and endocrine function of several metabolic biomarkers in colostrum and placenta. : One hundred and twenty-four pregnant mothers were recruited from three hospitals between June 2020 and August 2021 and assigned to two groups: Control group and COVID-19 group.

Infertility affects 15% of couples in reproductive age worldwide. In women in particular, infertility can be caused by various abnormalities, with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) being the most common. Currently, there are many assisted reproductive techniques (ART) available to combat the burden of infertility.

Background: Children and adolescents with chronic pain are a vulnerable population who often lack the resources to manage their condition. Due to high personal, social, and economic consequences, proper management in its early stages is key to reducing disability. The aim of this project is to co-develop a digital intervention for pediatric chronic pain (Digital SPA) with end-users and to evaluate its effectiveness and implementation outcomes in Spain.

Objective: Risk assessment of patients with chest pain is based on clinical parameters; however, without a scoring system, such as risk stratification scales, estimates are less precise and accurate. The aim of this paper was to compare the HEART, GRACE score and clinical parameters in the prediction of major cardiovascular events (cardiovascular mortality or acute myocardial infarction) during hospitalization, in patients with chest pain attended in the emergency department.
Methods: A descriptive observational study of patients with ischemic chest pain, who attended to the Miguel Servet University Hospital emergency department (Zaragoza, Spain) during one year was carried out.

Importance: Bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) is often associated with pulmonary vascular disease and secondary pulmonary hypertension (PH). The pathogenesis of BPD-associated PH (BPD-PH) is complex and involves prenatal and postnatal factors that disrupt pulmonary vascular development, and patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) is a factor potentially associated with risk of BPD-PH that has been identified in very recent studies.
Objective: To explore the association of PDA with BPD-PH using a bayesian model-averaged (BMA) meta-analysis of studies.
Introduction: Intestinal malrotation is a congenital pathology with potentially catastrophic complications, such as volvulus, whose treatment has barely not changed in nearly 100 years (Ladd's procedure). Dr. Abu-Elmagd recently described a new technique that was applied in one of our patients.

How important is choice of conditioning regimen in allogeneic haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) for sickle cell disease (SCD)? We compared HSCT outcomes by conditioning regimen in paediatric patients with SCD from the EBMT registry. In 2010-2020, 251 patients aged <18 years underwent a first matched sibling donor (MSD) HSCT with conditioning based on busulfan-fludarabine (bu-flu; n = 89) or treosulfan-fludarabine (treo-flu; n = 162). In the bu-flu and treo-flu groups, 51.

Objective: To evaluate the efficiency of the sepsis risk calculator and the serial clinical observation in the management of late preterm and term newborns with infectious risk factors.
Method: Single-center, observational, two-phase cohort study comparing the rates of neonates born ≥35 weeks' gestation, ≥2000 g birthweight, and without major congenital anomalies, who were screened and/or received antibiotics for early-onset neonatal sepsis risk at our center during two periods, before (January/2018-June/2019) and after (July/2019-December/2020) the implementation of the sepsis risk calculator.
Results: A total of 1796 (Period 1) and 1867 (Period 2) patients with infectious risk factors were included.
