Background: COVID-19 shows different clinical and pathophysiological stages over time. Theeffect of days elapsed from the onset of symptoms (DEOS) to hospitalization on COVID-19prognostic factors remains uncertain. We analyzed the impact on mortality of DEOS to hospital-ization and how other independent prognostic factors perform when taking this time elapsedinto account.

Material And Methods: This is an observational study of patients hospitalized in Spain with a diagnosis of COPD included in the SEMI-COVID-19 registry. The medical history, symptoms, analytical and radiological results, treatment, and progress of patients with COPD hospitalized in the first wave (from March to June 2020) versus those hospitalized in the second wave (from July to December 2020) were compared.

Background And Objective: The aim of our study is to define the role of Pulsed-Doppler (PW-Doppler) Ultrasound of the Common Femoral Vein (CFV) in the assessment of dilatation Inferior Vena Cava (IVC), probability of Pulmonary Hypertension (PH), Tricuspid Regurgitation (TR), and Tricuspid annular plane systolic excursion (TAPSE).
Methods: This is a prospective two-hospital study in 74 patients admitted with acute heart failure (AHF). We performed PW-Doppler ultrasound of the common femoral vein, Point of Care (POC) cardiac ultrasonography and assessment of the IVC at the time of admission, as well as PW-Doppler and ultrasound of the IVC at hospital discharge.
Objective: This work aimed to compare the characteristics, progress, and prognosis of patients with COPD hospitalized due to COVID-19 in Spain in the first wave with those of the second wave.

Mortality rates for COVID-19 have declined over time in the general population, but data in patients with hematologic malignancies are contradictory. We identified independent prognostic factors for COVID-19 severity and survival in unvaccinated patients with hematologic malignancies, compared mortality rates over time and versus non-cancer inpatients, and investigated post COVID-19 condition. Data were analyzed from 1166 consecutive, eligible patients with hematologic malignancies from the population-based HEMATO-MADRID registry, Spain, with COVID-19 prior to vaccination roll-out, stratified into early (February-June 2020; = 769 (66%)) and later (July 2020-February 2021; = 397 (34%)) cohorts.

Mortality and re-admission rates for decompensated acute heart failure (AHF) is increasing overall and risk stratification might be challenging. We sought to evaluate the prognostic role of systemic venous ultrasonography in patients hospitalized for AHF. We prospectively recruited 74 AHF patients with a NT-proBNP level above 500 pg/mL.

Objective: The incidence of COVID-19 infections among health professionals during the sixth wave has suffered an exponential increase, mainly due to the rapid community transmission caused by the Omicron variant. The main objective of the study was to evaluate the time to negativization in COVID-positive health professionals during the sixth wave, according to the PDIA result; and secondarily, to evaluate the possible influence of other factors (previous infection, vaccination, sex, age, job position) on the time to get negative status.
Methods: A descriptive, longitudinal, observational and retrospective study was carried out at Infanta Sofía University Hospital (Madrid, Spain).

Introduction: The objective of this study was to assess the durability, short-term and long-term effectiveness, and safety of tofacitinib in ulcerative colitis (UC) in clinical practice.
Methods: This is a retrospective multicenter study including patients with UC who had received the first tofacitinib dose at least 8 weeks before the inclusion. Clinical effectiveness was based on partial Mayo score.

Introduction: ß-pancreatic cells are susceptible to SARS-CoV-2 infection and replication; this could lead to infection-related diabetes or precipitate the onset of type 1 diabetes. This study aimed to determine the severity at diagnosis, analyzing clinical and epidemiological features at debut in children under 16 years of age in the context of the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic.
Material And Methods: A retrospective observational multicenter study was carried out in 7 hospitals of the public health network located in the south of our community.

Ribociclib in combination with endocrine therapy (ET) has shown superiority in prolonging survival in patients with hormone receptor-positive (HR+), human epidermal growth factor receptor 2-negative (HER2-) advanced breast cancer (ABC) vs. ET alone.

Medical nutrition therapy is a very useful tool in maintaining and recovering the health of patients with disease-related malnutrition, although its implementation can be complex and is not without risks. Quality processes are understood as sets of activities that are related or interact to transform input elements into results. From the SENPE Management Work Group we present the process of medical nutrition therapy (PMNT), which aims to facilitate the management of clinical nutrition of a multidisciplinary nutrition support team in a hospital setting.
