The development and evolution of high-frequency probes in current ultrasound systems have enabled us to obtain more detailed information about small and superficial structures, such as the fingers, which are frequently injured in a significant portion of the population (traumatic injuries account for 28% of musculoskeletal system injuries) and can result in substantial disability for affected patients. Due to its superior accessibility, resolution, and ability to perform dynamic studies, ultrasound has become the imaging technique of choice for evaluating these conditions. It covers a range of pathologies, including tendinous, ligamentous, and articular injuries, as well as soft tissue tumors and pseudotumors, which will be described in detail in the main body of the article.

Background: There are very few reports of intradural disc herniations associated with achondroplasia described in the literature.
Case Description: A patient with achondroplasia presented with progressive paraparesis attributed to a magnetic resonance-documented intradural disc herniation at the T12-L1 level occupying more than 90% of the spinal canal. It was successfully removed through a T12 laminectomy with durotomy; note a laminectomy would have been contraindicated if this had been an extradural anterior/anterolateral disc.

SGLT-2 inhibitors (SGLT-2is) are considered to be a first-line treatment for common conditions like type 2 diabetes, chronic kidney disease, and heart failure due to their proven ability to reduce cardiovascular and renal morbidity and mortality. Despite these benefits, SGLT-2is are associated with certain adverse effects (AEs), particularly genitourinary (GU) events, which can lead to treatment discontinuation in some patients. Preventing these AEs is essential for maintaining the cardiorenal benefits of SGLT-2is.

To evaluate the response to Tezepelumab in real clinical practice, we performed an analysis of the clinical, functional, and inflammatory characteristics of 13 patients with severe asthma after completing four doses of Tezepelumab was performed. When comparing clinical parameters such as asthma control test (ACT), FENO value, exacerbations in the last 4 months, blood eosinophils and FEV1%, before receiving Tezepelumab and after four doses of Tezepelumab, statistically significant differences were found in ACT levels (p=0.0072), exacerbations (p=0.

Gestational breast cancer (GBC), defined as breast cancer (BC) diagnosed during pregnancy or the first-year post-partum, accounts for 6-15% of BC cases in women aged 20-44 years. GBC has worse prognosis than non-GBC, but reasons behind are not clear. The GEICAM/2012-03 Study (Molecular Characterization of Gestational Breast Cancer) is a multicenter prospective/retrospective observational registry of patients diagnosed with GBC.

Controversy surrounds the current debate regarding the effects of outsourcing health services, as recent studies claim that increased outsourcing leads to reduced costs at the expense of worse patient outcomes. The goal of the value-based model is to enable healthcare systems to create more value for patients, and evidence points to improvements in public health outcomes, patient experience, and health expenditure in systems incorporating components of value-based healthcare. Some emerging evidence indicates promising results for outsourced hospitals which follow a value-based model of healthcare delivery.

Infections associated with implants are the most serious complications in joint replacement surgeries and can jeopardize the functionality of orthopedic implants. Local antimicrobial delivery could enable antibiotics to attain concentrations above the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) threshold at the joint replacement site while preventing systemic side effects. Therefore, there is a dire need for the development of improved biomaterial-based delivery systems for local antibiotic administration in prosthetic infections.

As the world still vividly recalls the previous monkeypox (mpox) outbreak that impacted over 120 countries worldwide with more than 99,000 cases in 2022, we are now facing a second wave of infections from the monkeypox virus (MPXV), characterized by an exponential increase in cases. The current 2024 outbreak has already recorded more than 20,000 cases in Africa, marking a dramatic escalation compared to previous outbreaks. The predominance of the newly identified clade Ib variant, first detected in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and now identified across multiple African nations and beyond, underscores its enhanced transmissibility and potential for international spread, evidenced by cases in Sweden and Thailand.
