Introduction: Transition clinics are conceived as programs dedicated to the active, multidimensional development of a process that addresses the medical, psychosocial, educational, and vocational needs of pediatric patients suffering from a chronic disease that will persist into adulthood. Their understanding is justified in physiological, psychological, and sociocultural terms on the basis of the differential morbidity and mortality associated with a chronic disease that begins in childhood and prevails into adulthood.
Materials And Methods: Here, we reflect on the history, structure, and impact of transition clinics in pediatrics, with an emphasis on pediatric rheumatologic diseases.

Objective: The evaluation of health benefits and harms of an intervention with GRADE Evidence to Decision (EtD) frameworks includes judgments if the effects are "trivial", "small", "moderate" or "large". Such judgments ideally require the a priori establishment of decision thresholds (DTs), whose empirical derivation for single outcomes has been previously described. In this article, we provide a methodological approach to estimate DTs for composite endpoints based on disutilities.

Various fracture-specific reverse shoulder arthroplasty (RSA) systems exist on the market. We set out to examine whether the type of prosthesis used and the means of fixation (cemented or non-cemented) influenced the rate of tuberosity healing or the functional outcome of the operation. This retrospective cohort multicenter study included 146 patients who underwent RSA for an acute three- or four-part proximal humerus fracture and had a minimum follow-up of one year.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship between arthroscopic discopexy with resorbable pins or disc mobilisation and its effect on the bone marrow of the mandibular condyle. An observational analytical retrospective cohort study was conducted. The inclusion criteria comprised adult patients with Wilkes IV and V with MRI in T2 sequence undergoing TMJ arthroscopy.

Background: Intranasal antihistamines (INAH), corticosteroids (INCS), and their fixed combinations (INAH+INCS) are one of the cornerstones of the treatment of allergic rhinitis (AR). We performed a systematic review and network-meta-analysis comparing the efficacy and safety of INAH, INCS, and INAH+INCS in patients with AR.
Methods: We searched four electronic bibliographic databases and three clinical trial databases for randomised controlled trials assessing the use of INAH, INCS, and INAH+INCS in adults with seasonal or perennial AR.

Background: There are very few reports of intradural disc herniations associated with achondroplasia described in the literature.
Case Description: A patient with achondroplasia presented with progressive paraparesis attributed to a magnetic resonance-documented intradural disc herniation at the T12-L1 level occupying more than 90% of the spinal canal. It was successfully removed through a T12 laminectomy with durotomy; note a laminectomy would have been contraindicated if this had been an extradural anterior/anterolateral disc.

Background: Advancing age is associated with an increase in mortality among patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) due to coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). This study aimed to determine risk factors for in-hospital mortality in patients over 60 years old with COVID-19-related ARDS (C-ARDS).
Methods: This was an observational, analytical, retrospective study conducted on a cohort that included all patients aged 60 years or older diagnosed with COVID-ARDSwho were admitted to a high-complexity hospital in Bogotá, Colombia, between March 2020 and July 2021.

There are limitations to predicting perinatal asphyxia, as current tools rely almost entirely on fetal cardiotocography (CTG). The fetal lack of responsiveness scale (FLORS) is a new diagnostic alternative based on the physiological phenomena associated with fetal hypoxia. The objective of this study was to develop, validate, and assess the diagnostic accuracy of the FLORS for predicting severe perinatal hypoxia (SPH).

Objective: To evaluate the impact of coadministering statins with direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) on the risk of major bleeding events in patients with venous thromboembolism (VTE).
Design: Observational cohort analysis based on a multicentre international registry.
Setting: Data were extracted from the Registro Informatizado de Enfermedad TromboEmbolica Registry, which involves 205 centres across 27 countries.

Teaching medical rounds in intensive care units (ICUs) are essential for resident education. However, the ICU's high workload can hinder these rounds. We propose a new approach that is based on the constructivist theory of learning communities.

Objective: In patients with non-small cell lung cancer, lymph node assessment is essential for appropriate staging. The intrapulmonary lymph nodes (IPLNs) should be considered when assigning the N stage but are infrequently evaluated in Colombian centers, resulting in understaging that may hinder optimal treatment.
Methods: We conducted a prospective study of IPLN dissection in patients with clinical stage I or II non-small cell lung cancer who underwent surgical resection at 9 institutions in Colombia between 2021 and 2023.

Background: The genetic substrate of severe hypertriglyceridemia (sHTG) in Latin America is insufficiently understood.
Objective: To identify genetic variants in genes related to triglyceride (TG) metabolism among adults with sHTG from Colombia.
Methods: In individuals with plasma TG≥880 mg/dL at least once in their lifetime, we amplified and sequenced all exons and intron/exon boundaries of the genes LPL, APOC2, APOA5, GPIHBP1 and LMF1.

Background: Treatments for allergic rhinitis include intranasal or oral medications.
Objective: To perform a systematic review with meta-analysis comparing the effectiveness of intranasal corticosteroids or antihistamines versus oral antihistamines or leukotriene receptor antagonists in improving allergic rhinitis symptoms and quality of life.
Methods: We searched four bibliographic databases and three clinical trial datasets for randomized controlled trials (1) assessing patients aged 12 years and older with seasonal or perennial allergic rhinitis, and (2) comparing intranasal corticosteroids or antihistamines versus oral antihistamines or leukotriene receptor antagonists.
