: One of the main objectives of partial nephrectomy is to preserve as much renal function as possible. However, the removal of functioning nephrons and ischemic damage secondary to the clamping of the renal pedicle can be associated with a certain degree of renal function loss. We aim to evaluate the relationship between tumor volume and other factors on renal function in the short term (1-3 months) and long term (6-12 months) in our series of partial nephrectomies.

Unlabelled: Homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (HoFH) is a rare disease characterized by the presence of two pathogenic variants in the LDLR, APOB, PCSK9 or LDLRAP1 genes, which cause very high levels of LDL cholesterol and premature atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD).The objective of this study is to analyze the current situation regarding diagnosis, cardiovascular disease, lipid-lowering treatment and degree of control of lipids in patients with HoFH in the National Dyslipidemia Registry of the Spanish Atherosclerosis Society.

Methods: Subjects with HoFH, confirmed by the presence of two pathogenic variants in the genes mentioned above, included in the registry from 2013 to June 2023 with an updated review were analyzed.

Emergency psychiatric care for children and adolescents: factors associated with multiple visits and hospital admissions.

Given the increased demand for mental health resources in the child and adolescent population, this study aims to describe the emergency psychiatric care of the children and adolescents and to explore factors associated with multiple visits and hospital admissions. All patients < 18 years of age who visited the psychiatric ED(ED) of a University Hospital in Madrid, Spain, during 2022 were included. Data were collected by the attending psychiatrist upon first 2022 ED visit (index visit) and during any ED revisit.

Protocol for the adaptation and consensus of the Community Pharmacy Survey on Patient Safety Culture to hospital pharmacy in Spain.

Introduction: The Community Pharmacy Survey on Patient Safety Culture (CPSOPSC) is a tool created by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality and used in the United States to assess the patient safety culture among community pharmacy workers. This survey has been adapted for use in hospital pharmacies in other countries. However, it has not yet been implemented in Spanish hospital pharmacies due to the lack of an applicable version in Spain.

Characterisation of LGP2 complex multitranscript system in humans: role in the innate immune response and evolution from non-human primates.

Retinoic acid inducible gene I (RIG-I)-like receptors (RLRs), including RIG-I, MDA5 and LGP2, recognize viral RNA to mount an antiviral interferon (IFN) response RLRs share three different protein domains: C-terminal domain, DExD/H box RNA helicase domain, and an N-terminal domain with two tandem repeats (CARDs). LGP2 lacks tandem CARD and is not able to induce an IFN response. However, LGP2 positively enhances MDA5 and negatively regulates RIG-I signaling.

A multi-center study on the use of lidocaine thermogel for pain control in outpatient operative hysteroscopy.

Objectives: This study aimed to explore the use of an anesthetic lidocaine thermogel in outpatient operative hysteroscopies. Specifically, it assessed the safety, tolerability, and ease of use of the gel, as well as its potential for pain reduction during the procedure.

Study Design: This was a multicenter observational study conducted in 9 gynecological units between March 2023 and January 2024.

The impact of early surgery on mortality and functional recovery in older adults with traumatic intracranial lesions: a propensity score-based analysis.

Background: There is skepticism about the benefit of surgery in elderly patients affected by traumatic brain injury (TBI) due to the negative effect of age on the outcome and surgical complications. However, there are few studies that have investigated differences in patient's outcome between surgically and conservatively managed patients after adjusting for the imbalance in preinjury characteristics and clinical and radiological features. The primary aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of early surgery on mortality and functional recovery in a cohort of older adults with acute traumatic intracranial lesions after adjustment by Propensity Score (PS) matching.

Efficacy and safety of Optilume® paclitaxel-coated urethral dilatation balloon in real-life: experience in a Spanish multicenter study.

Introduction: The Optilume® Paclitaxel-coated urethral dilatation balloon is an alternative to conventional endoscopic treatments that combines mechanical dilatation with local delivery of paclitaxel.

Objective: To describe the success rate and analyze the safety of the device in real clinical practice. To evaluate possible predictors of treatment failure.

Bempegaldesleukin plus nivolumab in first-line advanced/metastatic urothelial carcinoma: Results from a phase II single-arm study (PIVOT-10).

Background: In PIVOT-02, bempegaldesleukin (BEMPEG), a pegylated interleukin-2 cytokine prodrug, in combination with nivolumab (NIVO), a Programmed cell death protein 1 inhibitor, demonstrated the potential to provide additional benefits over immune checkpoint inhibitor monotherapy in patients with urothelial carcinoma, warranting further investigation. We evaluated BEMPEG plus NIVO in cisplatin-ineligible patients with previously untreated locally advanced or metastatic urothelial carcinoma.

Methods: This open-label, multicenter, single-arm, phase II study enrolled patients with locally advanced/surgically unresectable or metastatic urothelial carcinoma and who were ineligible for cisplatin-based treatment.

A phase 2, multicenter, clinical trial of CPX-351 in older patients with secondary or high-risk acute myeloid leukemia: PETHEMA-LAMVYX.

Background: LAMVYX was a multicenter, single-arm, phase 2 trial designed to validate the safety and efficacy of CPX-351 in patients aged 60-75 years with newly diagnosed, secondary acute myeloid leukemia and to generate evidence on key issues not addressed in the preceding regulatory pivotal trial.

EAACI guidelines on the management of IgE-mediated food allergy.

This European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI) guideline provides recommendations for the management of IgE-mediated food allergy and was developed using the Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development and Evaluations (GRADE) approach. Following the confirmation of IgE-mediated food allergy diagnosis, allergen avoidance and dietary advice (with support of a specialised dietitian, if possible) together with the provision of a written treatment plan, education on the recognition of allergic symptoms and prescription of medication including adrenaline using an auto-injector are essential. Patients with significant anxiety and requirement for coping strategies may benefit from support from a clinical psychologist.

The aim of this document is to provide a list of «Not to do» recommendations in the medical specialty of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

Material And Method: For the development of this project, which is coordinated by the Vocalía de Sociedades Filiales, Sociedades Autonómicas y Grupos de Trabajo de la Sociedad Española de Rehabilitación (SERMEF), specific recommendations are requested from Grupos de Trabajo and Sociedades Filiales of each specific field of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, as experts in the corresponding intervention areas.
