Pneumology Department, Severe Asthma Unit, Hospital Universitari Germans Trias i Pujol, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Barcelona, Spain.
Background: Some patients with severe asthma may benefit from treatment with biologics, but evidence has been mostly collected from randomized controlled trials (RCTs), in which patients' characteristics are different from those encountered in asthma patients in the real-world setting. The aim of this study was to describe the clinical features of complete responders versus non-complete responders to long-term treatment with biologics in patients with severe asthma attended in routine daily practice.
Methods: Data of a cohort of 90 patients with severe asthma who were treated with biologics (omalizumab, benralizumab, and mepolizumab) for at least 12 months and were followed up to March 2022.

Cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (cSCC) is the second most common subtype of skin cancer. The scalp is one of the most frequently affected locations and is associated with a higher rate of complications, compared to other locations. In addition, it has a characteristic thickness and anatomical structure that may influence both growth pattern and treatment of primary cSCC; while clinical peripheral margins may be easily achieved during the surgery, vertical excision of the tumor is limited by the skull.

Neoplasms are composed of malignant tumor cells, which are surrounded by other non-tumor cellular elements, in what has been defined as the microenvironment or tumor stroma. Evidence on the importance of the tumor microenvironment has not stopped growing in recent years. It plays a central role in cell proliferation, tissue invasion, angiogenesis and cell migration.

Introduction: Immune-mediated inflammatory diseases (IMID) are a group of disorders characterized by chronic inflammation caused by an altered immune regulation in targeted organs or systems. IMID itself could have an implied increased risk of venous thromboembolism (VTE) and this risk varies throughout the course of the disease as well as with some contraceptive methods and treatments. The aim of this study was to present some key considerations in relation to contraception in women with IMID.

The treatment of inflammatory bowel disease has undergone a significant transformation following the introduction of biologic drugs. Thanks to these drugs, treatment goals have evolved from clinical response and remission to more ambitious objectives, such as endoscopic or radiologic remission. However, even though biologics are highly effective, a significant percentage of patients will not achieve an initial response or may lose it over time.

Forensic laboratories are constantly required to identify new drugs and their metabolites. N-ethylhexedrone (NEH, HEXEN), N-Ethylpentedrone (NEP), and 4-Chloromethcathinone (4-CMC, clephedrone) are synthetic substances structurally related to natural cathinone, alkaloid present in the leaves of the Catha edulis (Khat) plant. These synthetic cathinones (SC) are members of the heterogenous family of new psychoactive substances (NPS) that raised major concerns in scientific and forensic communities over the past years due to their widespread consumption.
