Introduction: Although hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS) be extensively studied, this disease still has a high mortality rate compared to other diseases treated as univentricular physiology. In this way, morphological differences between phenotypes within the spectrum of HLHS may be risk factors and their identification can assist in choosing treatment between subgroups.

Objective: To identify the most prevalent form of coronary artery dominance in hearts with HLHS groups with mitral atresia (MA) and mitral stenosis (MS).

Purpose: Bisphosphonate-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (BRONJ) is a well-recognized pathologic entity that is challenging and difficult to manage. Objectives: The aim of this work was to analyze the dominance patterns of the circulation of the human heart, the number of branches from the right coronary artery to the left ventricle, the number of branches from the left coronary artery to the right ventricle and the frequency and location of intercoronary anastomoses.

Methods: Casts were made of 25 hearts by the injection of colored acrylic resin and subsequent corrosion using hydrochloric acid at the experimental surgery laboratory of Furb. Specimens with lesions or scars were discarded.

Unlabelled: Based on the functional matrix concept, scientists developed the hypothesis that soft tissue acting on certain bone pieces determines the process of facial growth. The possibility to modify muscle influence in the phase of facial development, or in postoperative of corrective surgery is of great preventive importance and it should be better investigated, since it could reduce the number and impact of these procedures.

Study Design: experimental in rabbits.

Purpose: Osteoradionecrosis (ORN) is a severe and devastating late complication of radiotherapy in patients with head and neck cancer. Management of ORN remains controversial and the current approach has been focused on debridement, systemic antibiotics, and eventually hyperbaric oxygen therapy for small and limited ORN. However, this conservative approach is ineffective in controlling extensive bone and soft-tissue necrosis.

Objective: To review current knowledge about the use of exogenous surfactants in the treatment of different lung diseases causing acute respiratory failure in children.

Source Of Data: This review is based on the author's experience and on recent data retrieved from ONIA, Mdconsult, Medline and the Cochrane Database Library.

Summary Of The Findings: In spite of the success of the use of exogenous surfactants in Respiratory Distress Syndrome (RDS) of the newborn, some questions remain unanswered, such as the optimal administration timing - either very early (prophylactic), based on gestational age or on quick tests of lung maturity, or later, when the clinical picture becomes unequivocal.

The interesting association between delayed presentation of right-sided diaphragmatic hernia and neonatal Group B streptococcal infections occurs rarely and its pathogenesis is still obscure. Two preterm newborn infants with early onset of neonatal sepsis (one due to Group B Streptococcus) followed by recognition of right-sided diaphragmatic hernia on the 9th and 25th day of life are reported. In both cases the course of neonatal sepsis and pneumonia was complicated due to the appearance of right-sided pleural effusion and atelectasis.
